India (308/6) defeat England (304) by 4 wickets in the 2nd ODI, securing the 3-match series 2-0 with one game remaining

I wrote it before.

England seem to be in a picnic mode in this tour. It is an irrelevant tour with nothing at stake (maybe match practice before CT).
Or maybe... Just maybe....

Indian accomplishments do not register with you and your bias comes in between.
England has always been poor away team (apart from that brief Morgan period)

For someone who "knows" that England are in picnic mode, you sure did keep predicting England wins. Very funny way to show how you know their intentions.

What a shot lol.
Don’t see a lot of sweep shot sixes these days. Nice hit Gill

Btw, it’s lovely to see the flag back on the jersey. Nice they added that strip of tricolour on the shoulders. I’m in love with this. I said bring back the flags and i got my wish. Always a different vibe.

BCCI must have been left red-faced as play was halted in Cuttack due to a major technical failure during the India vs England 2nd ODI.

So, who is India’s anchor in this situation? Or is that obsolete term still only used in Pak?

Both these players are taking the risk that is required whereas when it comes to Pak, the entire burden is placed on a few while the rest cowardly “play around them” - accumulating soft runs and securing their place in the side.

Gill is a Anchor still playing run a ball without any undue risk.

Babar should done this role while Fakhar can go all gun blazing.

Kohli is the anchor. Openers should never be anchors in LOI cricket, you are not facing a red cherry here.

They get power play at their disposal. No room for anchoring. KL Rahul was the one who used to anchor there needlessly even on featherbeds

With that strike rate, Gill would be considered the aggressor in Pak.

Here, an anchor plays at a comfortable 70 strike rate while the other guy is pressured into hitting almost every other ball.

If you anchor with a strike rate of above 90, then I’m all for it.

But in Pak, that term is abused. It’s used to give a few cowards the free license to play without taking any risk and score soft runs. While the newbies will take all the risk and also be blamed for the losses

Gill is a pedigree batsman. He has 4th, 5th gear. Just that he doesn't use much after 2023. That is why he lost his T20 spot.

Anchors should still have top gear.

England are 7th ranked ODI side. Even West Indies beat them .

Even if India wins this 3-0 it doesn't mean anything.
Even in 2019 world cup they were not dominating. THey got through to semi final because MSD played too slow to chase the target against ENgland. Their all out attack approach is not sustainable. You still need good bowling unit to show consistency.

Haanji Where are Prince Gill hater now ?

Edit - Jinx him .

Ye to apne hi Player ko Jinx lag gai ;)

They are a terrible bowling team. Nothing to do with their attitude.

England bowling has no variety or variations.

I personally think there is no space for this role in modern day cricket anymore. As I said, it’s only in Pak so that a few can maintain their place in the side.

I would rather have the approach that Eng had today. All players play with impact, even if they don’t score big. You will still end up with a good total. A couple 59s/60s with others chipping in with 30s. If played at a decent click, 300+ is guaranteed.

Unfortunately, some of our players are very insecure and refuse to take risks. They are focused on personal milestones which harms the team. Due to seniority, they aren’t forced to change.

He is a very good odi player. But struggles more in Tests and T20’s. At this point he is not an all format batsman.

These kind of pitches completely mask your weaknesses. Look how loosely Kohli threw the bat at the ball and still managed to connect well. Same shots went to slips in Australia

Oh Rohit is still there... But he doesnt like scoring 100's anymore, so expect him to get out soon :danish

Kohli will repeat the same mistakes again if he went to aus.Flat pitch is negating all the deficiencies of all batters

Four

Poms using short ball , which was not required at this state , this stage Poms need tight overs
