What's new

England at the cusp of a thrilling win as they need 119 more to win the 5th Test against India

This has to be our poorest batting lineup in last few decades at least.

Over 81.5 - India 245 all out (Siraj 2no) – LEAD BY 377
So that's the end of India's innings.

They might have hoped to add a few more insurance runs today given England's recent chasing exploits.

Regardless, it's a record total England need against a very dangerous bowling attack, but it promises to be an entertaining one.

Lees and Crawley again. Should dispose of them quickly.

good chance to have got a lead of 400 + wasted on some cheap shots and unexplainable tactics. Will be entertaining though. I just hope they've learnt from SAF tour and dont let the intensity drop.

England cant afford another 50/3 scoreline in this tough chase against quality bowling.

One year ago in WTC Final, we batted even worst. Our batting has been poor for so long since we have persisted with the awful midlde order of Pujara, Kohli and Rahane.

Yeah, I know. I meant our current batting lineup which is there for so many years giving such poor returns and still being persisted with with such regularity.

Gotta try something different. May be try Jadeja or Siraj.

Opening has to be made through this English batting lineup which bats so deep.

Bazball on the move :srt

Will be entertaining either way. Hopefully our way, so we can laugh at this 'theory.'

If they put 150 runs, Eng will have an easy chance to win from there.

Lees playing very well. Good start by eng, put the skids under us.
if this keeps ups, action stations ...watch out site...

Usually Crawley is the more attacking of the 2 but here Lees has taken the lead while Crawley takes his time.

There is going to be only one winner of this test from here and that team is England.

LOL. Already accepted defeat? There are plenty of runs to chase and there is a reason why we haven’t seen many 350 plus chases in Test cricket.

Shows how hollow our batting was in both the innings except for Jadeja and Pant in first innings.

England bat very very deep. Those who say English top order is poor, haven't probably seen our batting.

Lees has gotten close to 50 already while Pujara from same situation batted still stumps and reached 50 in final over of the day. :facepalm

As I said yesterday, these Pujaras and Viharis won't take us anywhere.

They batted even deeper during last summer and still lost two test matches. Chasing 350 plus runs in fourth day pitch is not exactly a cake walk and you need only few mistakes to lose the game.
However, I like England’s approach. Win or lose, it adds entertainment to Test cricket and may attract many younger fans who are T20 aficionados.

One Bumrah over somewhere along the line will fix things for India.

What a reply, need higher refresh rate, but great replay overturning OUT decision!

Loved the way the dust went poof!

This could be Crawley's day!

I know its a difficult target to chase but see the kind of start they've got.

Lets agree to disagree. Would love to be proved wrong though.

Poor bowling at the start of 4th innings was the reason we lost last 2 tests in SA earlier this year.

If this was Pakistan, they would be 20-0 after 15 overs

Abdullah Shafique 10* off 60

Eng has nothing to lose here. Just for for win in 80 overs. Perfect set up for chase over 350 runs is when one side has nothing to lose.

What's going on?

How did we let them get to 80/0?

These are not even their best batters.

First eng innings india had the advantage of regular rain breaks which ensured bumrah and shami bowled most of overs with new ball

Pitch has slowed down a bit and the sun is out. How england handle the reverse swing will determine the result

Well batted these 2. Shows how poor our 'batsmen' were on the same pitch!

Zak crawley can be a dangerous batsman when in flow. He certainly did make that 267 against Pak look easy.

Fastest fifties by an England opener:

Ben Stokes - 36 balls vs WI 2020
Marcus Trescothick - 39 balls vs SL 2003
Graham Gooch - 40 balls vs Aus 1991
Alex Lees - 44 balls vs Ind, 2022

We haven't even looked close to picking a wicket so far in this innings.

Lmao why Bumrah not bowling, when India needs him most? :))) Hiding from the spotlight it seems.

Kohli really should have been the captain, I get he's done wit that but for a one off test if he's in the side he might as well captain.
His time as our captain is up. He doesn't even warrant a place in the XI for quite some time now, let alone lead the team.

This has been an incredible start for England 100-0 after 20 overs, I think Brendon McCullum is really the perfect coach for England, imo England should try to get him to coach all 3 formats if they can. He's made them realize there's no point in tuk tukking in tests just for the sake of it cuz let's be honest England suck at that so play freely, and so far it's working wonders!

Yes he hasn't been in the greatest of forms, but for this one off test with Rohit out, why not let Kohli captain since he's already in the side and been one of your best test captains? I get his time is up but if he's in the side and your captain's gone down I'd much rather have Kohli leading the ship than Bumrah, and I think it's showing right now.

He has to rotate the bowlers , just because he is captain , he cannot keep on bowling
Now is time for him to bowl as his other bowlers aren't making any impression on these 2. If he keeps waiting, boat would've sailed by then.

India badly need wickets here and also need to dry up the runs.

You're saying that as if he's bowled 10 overs... he's bowled 4 overs. Obviously hiding atm, guarantee you if a wicket falls he'll come on :))

Ohh no these regular ball changes are not going to help India. Reverse swing will be difficult
