What's new

England beat Bangladesh by 4 wickets in the 3rd ODI, seal 2-1 series win

278 is target!!!! Bangladesh will win this match by atleast 100 runs if not more. 200 will be respectable total for England

Bangladesh are winning this. Chasing over 270 is never easy, England will crumble under pressure. Mark my word.

Should have got close to 300 with 176/3 in 33rd over, but it'll need few records to be broken, if ENG is to chase this. That last wicket partnership was the match changer.

4 regular keeper in the England team today, bet that hasn't happened too often in international cricket.

277 is a difficult total to chase given 226 was the highest chase in this ground and run chasing on this kind of a surface is difficult. England had to restrict us under 250 but chasing 277 in a decider isn't easy.

I have some doubt over the nature of this pitch. This pitch looks easier to me than the 2nd ODI. Bangladesh will to bowl well, take early wickets, field well if they want to win here. This pitch is not that typical Chittagong pitch that we are familiar too. I am hopeful though of winning but don't want to say that we have already won according to some fans here. I want view of sir Executioner and boss MMHS.

Afghanistan> England in Subcontinent!!!!!

I wouldn't say that. Afghanistan played against a rusty Bangladesh side who were gelling together after 6 months. England facing a Bangladesh side who got plenty of intl match practice.

The same way if England faced BD before Afg, we would be in big trouble. Form and match practice matters.

The pitch isn't like a typical Chittagong wicket, maybe covering it for 48 hours made it a pancake. Rashid could have taken 6fer if he bowed in the right areas, but even bowling short and full tosses he got his Eid bonus. This match will be close.

Just about 15 over per, as I called at start that 260 might not be sufficient. However, it looks like Poms are a bit tense today. ENG has very good depth, which allows them to slog from ball one. Last match we got away with early wickets, but today they should start better. On other side, you don't expect Butler to do same things 3 times in a row.

I think, mucj tighter than most thinking, but we have the thick edge indeed.

LoL at calling me sir.

I believe that the pitch is sluggish, with the ball stopping at times and there is definitely a lot of bounce. It does get easier at night where the ball skids on. But there has been no dew at all.

Pacers won't be too effective if they ball short pitched stuff so need to bowl full and straight and try to get swing under lights.

I think the pitch is pretty much the same as that in the 2nd ODI, difference being that this has more even bounce, 2nd ODI had uneven bounce but less spin on offer. Still 250 CAN be chased here by England, but 277 is tough for any team in the world.

But Bangladesh has to bowl well. Pitch will flatten ought a bit.

Can anyone tell me, what's the difference between Leg Spinner Adil Rashid & leg spinner Sachin Tendulkar?

I see no difference really as legspinner but Sachin also used to bowl offie.I always rated spinner Sachin highly more than he achieved as a bowlerRashid is so lucky. He gets wickets in rubbish balls

Agree, can'tbe 100% confident. England are bound to start well atleast once. With the depth in batting 275ish can be chased. But given the strength of Bangladesh, which is spin bowling, it won't be easy. I think team management should have picked Taijul, and I am saying this on the basis of history. Chittagong is my home and i followed all the matches here religiously. Its the only pitch in Bangladesh which can be labelled as a square turner.

And since its a turner, Bangladesh has won majority of the matches at this venue as opposed to Mirpur.

AUS might lose 5-0 in SAF; but what will be the result of a 7 match ODI Series between AUS-ENG in AUS

With END playing their absolute best XI & AUS playing their rotational staff but Strac playing 5 of the 7 matches?

The way Adil Rashid bowled, a team with more muscular players would have had him for 80-3

It's our game for sure, unless they drop 3/4 dollies/

I was very impressed with taijul. Unlike most SC sla's he actually has a high arm action and can generate good spin and bounce. How does he not make it into the side? wonderful bowling action.

Vince is a total useless batsman. England should play a bowler instead.

I was right i think. It's not a difficult wicket to bat on.England is favorite.

I knew england will easily score 280 on this pitch. Had we won the first match and seal the series :(

You can't bowl Mossadek and Naser and expect to topple the English line up. You need main spinners in order to cause acceptable damage to the opposition. Look how deadly Rashid looked on a good turning track ? Part timer spinners should be attacked, they can't beat you through flight and you can generally pick their quicker one based on their arm speed. Hope dumb captains understand this and get rid of part time dibbly dobbly bowlers.

Sam Billings is a good ODI prospect, should be part of the playing XI permanently.

Going to be tough selection dilemma when England opt to go full strength. Presumably gotta pick 5 from :

Roy
Hales
Duckett
Root
Morgan
Billings
Bairstow
Buttler

Good start by England, chasing a total that should ideally be lower. They should make it, but there's still time for everything to go wrong.

Ball is now skidding on.

We really would have loved to chase on this wicket. That was what I was afraid of, ball skidding on.

Still a lot of cricket left to be played. Billings gone. We should have played Taijul

I still have no idea how shafiul gets 4 matches in a row when we have Rubel and Al Amin who are able bowlers.

Rubel has venom. And good fielder

England side has sooooo much talented youngster to choose from i wish one day we have such a depth

Duckett>>>>>>Root

billings>>>>>> Roy

Vince>>>>>>>Morgan

Woakes>>>>>>wood

I wouldn't say Duckett is better than Root or Woakes is miles ahead of Wood.

However it does show Eoin Morgan is very replaceable in this England side.

I'm aware that he's played a key part in captaining this ODI side and reviving its fortunes but as a pure batsman I feel Duckett and Billings have a very high ceiling and could regularly feature in this team.

Is Sam Billing any good?

Yes, he put in some superb performances for the England Lions in that tri-series in the summer vs Sri Lanka and Pakistan A.

Whilst not as successful in FC cricket, he's been one of Kent's best performing limited overs players.

"greater than sign symbol" is just example i meant Morgan and co will be of course first choice and they are better batsmen than these

Morgan is top England scorer for england from last 1 and half year in odis and he is very good captain so he should be first choice player and captain

I have bowled to him while trialing for a uni team, had no issue bowling at other bats but he absolutely smashed me :)))

Bangla fans in the stadium look so worried.Relax guys. This is just an odi series, not a world cup final.:uakmal:uakmal

Where is Shakib when Ban needed a break through the most???.i think Mortaza is better than Shakib in terms of taking vital wickets Shakib most of the time fail in crucial ,moments

lol i was spot on!!!!:ma
Mashrafe Mortaza to Buttler, OUT, short, slow, and Buttler has chopped on! That was nothing more than a long-hop outside off, but it got up more than Buttler was expecting, and he has given Bangladesh a glimmer!

Am supposed to want England to win but I want Bangladesh to win not sure why :yk I think it's because they've been underdogs for a long time and also because of how white people pump their chest before brown folk and also because they're not use to losing to this alleged minnow or a team which they would normally be able to really get in their face because that's what bullies do but now the oppressed has become the bully!

Should be make or break for Moeen!!! England does not 2 spinners. 1 spinner is plenty
