This was a fairly predictable outcome, remains to be seen whether the tour to Pakistan in October is also postponed.

England's white-ball tour of Bangladesh has been postponed indefinitely, according to media report.

England were scheduled to play three T20Is and as many ODIs during September and October this year.

The three ODIs were part of the ICC ODI Super League.

The postponement of the tour now allows the England players who are a part of the Indian Premier League to take part in the tournament when it resumes in the United Arab Emirates on September 19.

The IPL was postponed after 29 matches earlier this year when there were a number of positive Covid-19 tests in several teams' bio-secured bubbles.

England players who are not involved in the IPL will get a chance to rest before a busy schedule that includes the World T20I and the Ashes in Australia this year.

England are also scheduled to tour Pakistan for two T20Is on October 14 and 15 as part of their preparations for the World T20I.

Interesting bcoz I thought Ashley Giles wanted players to play for Eng national team. Not sure how much T20 world cup kept in mind while making this decision. I feel for BD cricket though.

Is there no end to the evil BCCI spawns every other day?

At least Giles can now say he wasn't overruled since the tour itself stands canceled.

I think both Eng and BD players (Shakib & Fizz) would prefer to play IPL in Dubai than a random bilateral in BD. It will allow them to get aclamatized to UAE conditions and make them ready for the world cup.

I only feel for BCB since they would miss the money of the home series but I hope BCCI compensates them in some form.

ECB surprisingly have not had a positive attitude towards BD cricket. We last toured them 11 years back and now they are doing this.

It goes to show that cricket boards do not care about their promises.

You don't get it do you? The economical perks for BCB and BD fans getting to see English players cannot be replaced by Shakib getting match practice.

The only solution for this to not happen is if international T20s get shelved.

As long as international T20s continue, IPL will continue too and the non- Big 3 will suffer because their matches will be either postponed or the third string side will be send.

This is what happened when WSC was prevalent in 70s and this is happening now as IPL is equally bigger force as WSC of that era.

If international T20s stop, IPL will become irrelevant and we can enjoy Test Cricket between all teams and even ODIs will give the vibe of 90s again.

You keep crying about international T20s. IPL got their unofficial window of Apr and May but once again it couldn't get completed on time due to covid. It should not be ICC's and their member boards problem that they have to keep finding space for this pyjama league in the remaining few months every year. It should have been marked as 'completed' in May. IPL keeps killing international cricket over and over again but guys like you will only blame the one who is dying(intl cricket). What a joke. :inti

Now Just Blame IPL and BCCI for every series cancel in cricketing World. Someone please remind people's to what Ashely Giles said about England player's participation in IPL?

Its just painful to see international cricket being killed in front of your very eyes.
I don't really know who to blame.
IPL is here to stay whether you like it or not, yes it has some high quality cricket and everything, but I just can't find much Joy in Domestic Cricket, as there is no loyalty for me; hence I hardly watch PSL too, as in general couldn't care less if Karachi wins or Lahore.
When Karachi won PSL in 2020, not even 10 people came out on streets of Karachi to celebrate, When Pakistan won the CT in 2017, the streets of Karachi were just insane (gives me chill just remembering it), Hence as a hardcore cricket fan its almost impossible for me to accept that Domestic cricket (IPL) are over taking International Cricket.
Will be even more hard for me to really follow cricket other than ICC tournaments.

I'd rather watch the Pakistan first eleven play Zimbabwe's second team then any PSL game...

Evil bcci at it again.
This ipl should be scrapped as soon as possible.it's killing international cricket.Bcci destroying international cricket.

The usual cribbing going on and blaming others for their misfortune. The series has been postponed due to covid in Bangladesh. Of course English players can play IPL as a substitute instead of being idle

Don't really think BD can complain since they sold out to the Big 3 when those outside of it needed to show solidarity.

It's unfortunate covid has wreaked havoc on game of cricket. Even country like Australia sacrificed chance to get to wtc finals for covid.

Some posters don't understand value of health and relations. Just for some entertainment people can't die. We are talking about 15000 cases and 250 deaths daily in Bangladesh.
Good decision BCB

So how come the Aussies are there now playing a T20?

How many English players are in the IPL? Can they not get a second team of non-IPL players for the series?

I am sure the IPL contracted players will want to play in the IPL. They would want their names to be front and center to IPL franchises. Especially since most of them are likely at the back end of their contracts. Also, I am sure they do not want to leave $$$ on the table by not playing out their contracts.

Too bad Stokes is going to be leaving money on the table from his $5 million+ contract. But he has much more serious issues to worry about.

I am sure a mega auction is coming up very soon. With IPL expansion, there will be more opportunities for players to get contracts. More players want to be playing and displaying their skills for IPL powers to take notice.

No reason to postpone the series. They should get a second 11 over.

Bang-Aus series isn't being broadcast in Aus. No appetite, no takers. This is the reality some of the fans are struggling to cope with.

IPL has become really powerful. Money talks.

Bangladesh doesn't have the leverage or influence to do anything about it.

Lol....all these excuses

What was the number of daily cases and deaths in India while IPL was going on merrily

Any series involving a Subcontinent team will have large audience. BD are the host country and will handle expenses, ECB just need to send their team to BD simple. They postponed the series to March 2023 only so that they can get experience of playing WC in an asian country before the CWC, and now they are sending players to IPL to ensure the players get experience before playing WT20 in the UAE. This is an example of a selfish board. And it is not like BD are not good enough at home. Last time they toured us, the test series was drawn, and the ODI series was close fought with us losing 2-1.

The series is basically cancelled as it has been "postponed" to 2 years. I think the root problem is the "superiority" complex boards like CA and ECB shows towards BCB. This is why Cricket will always remain between few teams.

Look at even Field hockey, back in the days it used to be few competitive teams but these days we see even Argentina, Belgium compete similar to football, and I don't even follow field hockey.

It's better for Shakib & Mustafiz to get experience in UAE compared to Bangladesh. Would be nice if some low key team in IPL picks up Liton Superstar Das

So how come the Aussies are there now playing a T20?

It's simple and obvious. This series was planned long back and players from both sides are in bubble already. Situation was not so bad even a week back. If england tour next month, they have to be travel early and be in bubble which was going to be hard. They don't want to come to Australia for ashes.

Money talks. Much more money in the IPL then a meaningless and boring tour of Bangladesh.
