What happened?

Gaurav: "The old saying- 'if you're out of form, go play India', seems to be coming true."

Abhinay: "Let it go down in the history books that I am the first one to predict Alastair Cook storming back to form with 175 in this innings!" You are the first in that respect, others have tipped him for a double and he's been trying very hard. Has to face Ravindra Jadeja now

Danish: "Wasn't Ashwin used as a permanent slip fielder? Perhaps he could make it into the XI as a slip fielder rather than a bowler or all-rounder :P"

Yeah saw.

Also one fun fact posted by cricketjoshila here: Whenever India has taken a lead in overseas test in recent times, it has immediately lost the next match.

Hope we reverse that horrible trend this time with atleast a draw.

Poor Poor team selection by India and its coach......ASHWIN REQUIRED!!!
India may live to regret this mistake

We are sooo doomed this time.

Need someone to step up big time with bowling.

3 tests on and still we haven't got the right combo.

:)))

Mate relax. Its early days yet. One session and INDIA ARE DOOMMMMEEDDDD. You're like the Indian Mamoon :)) No offence.

I've backed India to win this game and they still will IMO. Have faith......

Things don't right dude. That's the problem.

1. Our team selection is messed up. We are into the 3rd Test.
2. We have lost major test matches in the past due to drop catches.
3. Flat tracks with a bit of life is India's worst nightmare.
4. Shami rhythm is not the same. But must say he did bowl some very good deliveries this test. Maybe he did very in the nets, I dunno. But bowls too many loose deliveries.
5. Shami and Jaddu have like 5-7 wickets in the first 2 matches. Pankaj looked good. But I find it hard to see how this bowling can take 20 wickets barring some crazy act by someone (which is unpredictable and unlikely). Would be happy if that happens but I am not able to see how it will.

How many wickets did Ashwin take in his last 2 overseas outings?

Yep. I was wondering the same thing. AFAIK he sucks over-seas and plays as a batsman. Even the indian posters were saying that.

Ok. How many lefties did he dismiss in the last 2 tours?

I dunno. Picked a few. Hussey was even dropped once driving.

A much better bowler to lefties.

Have to check the stats though for the question you are asking.

Yep he sucks but he looks a long term prospect who can improve.

Jaddu is a defensive spinner who I don't see as a long term prospect for overseas tests.

how on earth this guy Punkaj not hitting 90mph with this built he is tall and strong and still not crossing 83 -84 mph.

Shami has been pathetic for a few Test matches now. He is badly out of form. Just bowls a bit short on log side pretty much every over.

Stop it indians your bowlers won you a test days ago now stop crying its 2nd session on day 1.

To be fair, if the pitch isn't spinning, even Ashwin could have struggled.

Its not like he is a world beater but still would have been useful in the second innings if there was something.

I feel so bad for Pankaj.

Always ignored despite domestic performances.

Catch dropped when he actually got Cook.

He deserves a wicket for sure.

Go Pankaj.

Become an Ishant reincarnate and destroy the English.

Go. Go. Go.

England will declare at around 500/5?

Time to pad stats for all woefully out of form batsmen against our quality trundlers :nehra

Is the pitch totally flat.Jadeja needs to perform superbly today otherwise there is no chance for us to win this match .

Clearly cant see what poor debutant did to you guys to deserve this kind of curse.

Dhoni just want Jadeja to bowl leggish line ?? I heard him saying to jadega "dheray dehray udhar khisak raha hay" when he bowled one turning in from off.

Mediocre bowlers will remain mediocre barring the odd miraculous performance here and there. Nothing new here.

Eng should look for 500+ and then Indians will come under score board pressure.

Rubbish bowling + Flat pitch. Will be interesting to see which bowler steps up and takes this match towards a result. My money is on Stuart Broad.

This seems like the Trent Bridge track. Ishant would have been even worse on this track methinks.

If not for Ishant, England would have posted a mammoth first innings total there too.

But yeah, he wouldn't have been much effective here. But still, a blow for India.
