Sosami: first day is best for bowlingso in other words "NZ had better conditions"?
Guptill bats pretty well on flat wickets. If Taylor goes, match goes
Sosami: first day is best for bowling
(New Zealand bowled on the first day)
Soso: so New Zealand had the best of the conditions?
Guptill bats pretty well on flat wickets.
He does fine in ODI's and t20s and if he bats like he did against SA he should smash this attack around the park. The ball isn't moving either he kept nicking off against the new ball, so against an older ball he should be able to take the attack to the English bowlers. He's a minnow basher, two centuries one against Bangladesh and the other against Zimbabwe.
In India too he has a terrible average. All lies on Taylor, Kane is a good player in flat tracks

Kiwi's opinion looks unquestionable to me, I think we should just doctor the scorecard to give Guptill 120 runs because there's clearly no way England can handle this guy.
Where does it say he'll get 100? We've taken your attack out before without swing you've got nothing. Guptill doesn't play swing well but against the English attack that doesn't offer much with the older ball he should able to attack them.He does fine in ODI's and t20s and if he bats like he did against SA he should smash this attack around the park. The saffa was too good for us, while the english we're sitting in pavilion.Kiwi's awfully cocky considering his team couldn't beat us in their own backyard, is behind in this series, and hasn't beaten us in a Test for five and a half years.
The saffas were too good for us...
Like what? Have we not gifted you two wickets? Do you honestly think Anderson, Finn and Broad is a better attack than Boult, Southee and Wagner?I'm just asking you to use a bit of honesty and reason, some of the statements you have made in this thread have been laughable.

I was just pointing out down the order Guptill should be able to be more aggressive against the older ball, you're the one who brought up the century. Not sure about the bowling and I haven't actually said anything about the way our two attacks measure up, you are just making points up in your head for the sake of an argument.

Enjoy your short stay at number 2, you don't have the talent to hold onto that rank for long unless you start recruiting more saffas.Nice. And I personally think Guptil's batting averages of 23 in India, 12 in Oz and 11 in SA do not denote that he is a good player in big Test matches. He might get a score one day soon or in the future, there are always flukes. But as you said it doesn't matter either way, because our attack which won Test tours away in Australia and India is worth 'nothing' and 'has been taken apart before', by New Zealand no less - a team that has managed to beat us an impressive 2 times out of the last 15 Tests - so I guess Martin shouldn't be worried about getting out today, nor should the New Zealand team be worried about their record against England or anybody else in general.
I'm hoping he plays it as another ODI and plays aggressively just sitting and waiting doesn't suit him. There aren't any demons in the pitch and the English aren't swinging it, so this could be the day for him.i love New Zealand and i'm sure you would have noticed that in my posts. But i'm sorry Guptull is not good enough for Test cricket. Old ball or not

If you didn't know this is how England play when the ball does nothing and the pitch is flat.At least the above posts were trying to spark a discussion about the cricket, but now Kiwi has been defeated on the main points he has resorted to the straw man points and the cheap trolling, transparent tactics in an argument.

Need Ross Taylor to dig in as well and establish a partnership before he starts attacking.you have R. Taylor for that. Williamson will drop anchor. That is a good combination for test cricket. Instead of someone who scores a hundred once in a blue moon
He's a rubbish opener, but he might do well down the order.Guptill has improved.
If i am not wrong he Scored a fifty while opening against Steyn,Philander and Morkel.

We're playing badly but I admit Finn is bowling in the right line and troubling us with some good aggressive bowling.I wonder if you could just be a bit consistent Kiwi, apparently we have nothing when the ball isn't doing much yet we're doing quite well here, and earlier you said the ball wasn't doing much so we were rubbish, so which line of logic is it to be?

You're batters are much better than ours. Our bowling attack taking 10 wickets against your batting is a lot different from your attack taking 10 NZ wickets.Well I'm of the opinion that apart from Root and Bairstow our batting order played pretty badly yesterday as well. But if I said that, you would claim I was not giving credit to the New Zealand bowlers and trying to deny their quality. Like I said I'm just asking for some consistency from you in your points. It's a reasonable request. Otherwise I have to concede you're just pursuing a biased anti-English agenda, which I really hope you're not because numerous posters on PP make that their main pastime.
England have used 3 bowlers over 24 overs? Where is Swann
Headingley is the spinner's graveyard as far as English grounds go, usually Tests are won here with big runs and seamers taking wickets.
why select him in the 1st place then?
Haha NZ are utterly rubbish. How did we fail to beat this lot over there?
No Swann. Any side would miss having one of the world's best bowlers around to control an innings.
With a bit of rain being being predicted for Tuesday, I am sure both Andy and Ali are thinking along the same lines. We should be aiming to enforce the follow-on here. Apart from Brendon these batters are terrible.

Suddenly Kiwi is gone missing
