The opener and the one down had set you up the match for the middle order to express them selves and take the game away from england. The hard work was all done now all we needed was 100 to 200 runs from the remaining 7 batsman. they messed up

Depends - don't think that England is boiling in confidence. They also know that facing 150 deficit if Cook & root goes early, PAK might not need to bat again. In general England has bowled in a way that a side thinking when they are 100+ short on per score. I see them dropping a catch as well, because the confidence is not there. On this wicket, 4th day won't be fun for England facing PAK attack.

The difference between the 18 balls Asad faced and the 18 balls sarfraz has played so far is so much telling.

Sarfraz is playing exactly like you should in this situation by making the most out of the loose deliveries and getting the lead up.

I'm surprised by how easy it is to get boundaries in these swinging conditions..

It must be really frustrating for the bowling side..
 
Cooks so worried about leaking runs he's moving the catchers back to the boundary

next couple of over perfect time to put the foot down a bit

They are the home side though, they are expected to make a comeback in the game.. I'm pretty sure they have turned it around from this situations..
 
It will be a tragedy if Misbah goes after Moeen and gets out loll

Should be PAK, if they believe in themselves. You know, when the batting side is not trying to score, yet Captain puts a 3rd man & deep leg, you know you are on top. But, PAK must believe that last 5 wickets can put 170+ against a tiered attack.

I like Sarfraz as a Test batsman, but I'm frustrated with him throwing his wicket away.
 
There Sri Lanka is giving Aussies a cricket lesson for free.

Anyway Misbah busts out the reverse.

You gotta admit though, even the opposition commentators feel Sarfaraz is a danger man with the way he bats..
 
I think, there was a tactical mistake by Cook. Now he is forced to bowl Moeen, when PAK's best 2 spin player is in. He should have off-loaded couple of pacers earlier for Sarfraz.

They intentionally reduce the quality (I guess) because the amount of bandwidth required to do so might be very high !!
 
Commies sure seem to enjoy Sarfaraz's batting.. they like his fearlessness
 
Next five minutes are crucial. Don't lose a wicket and watch Eng spread the field after lunch.

Sarfraz has disappointeda lot recently. Keeps throwing his wicket away. He needs to go big today

This pitch looks like a landmine..

Its basically leg spinning from the middle stump.. some of the balls by Finn look unplayable
 
OK finally settled on a stream now.

One thing I will say is that Sohail Khan has strengthened our tail, I find him to be a lot better with the bat than Wahab is

Much better ending to session with Sarfraz being positive, need at least one full session of these two batting together and we should have a lead of 100+ then.

I hope Sarfraz can score big here rather then just a nice cameo inns.
 
Need to see off 20 overs from quicks so that cook is forced to bowl Ali before and after tea. My ideal position would have been being 120 and 5 down at tea so we need a near perfect session to take hold of this game properly.
2 quick wickets can still swing this back to england
 
I think Pakistan's tempo has been good.

You are much better adding 160 to your overnight 257-3 in 50 overs than in 35 overs.

The key is that you have made England's bowlers come back for a fourth and fifth spell of the innings. That's smart.

The important thing now is to bat as close to Tea as you can. The longer you can bat, the more you ensure that England don't take the lead until tomorrow.

But if Misbah and Sarfraz get out quickly, the danger for you is of 336-5 at lunch becoming 375 all out before drinks. England would then be ahead before the end of play tonight.
 
Decent session. You expected younis to go early but shafiq was poor very lazy should have been off the mark ages ago.
 
Graeme Swann thinks a lead of above 75-100 will be decisive:

Misbah just looks so at home - stately. He's flying the flag for his country, making sure Pakistan will build this lead. Anything above 75 or 100, there's only one winner. England will have to fight to draw the game.

I was getting tense when Shafiq was out but these two have calmed my nerves. Misbah needs to get another century and Sarfraz needs to get more than just a start. A lead of 100 minimum is needed but that still may not be enough
 
Pakistan should look to grind England out.

Bat as long as possible and get as much as you can get.

No point in looking to score quick runs.
 
Bat the next session and get to last hour of final session.
Lead will be 170 - 180, England will have a hard time batting the last hour and I have high hopes that Yasir will be effective tomorrow.
Pakistan should not allow themselves to chase anything beyond 150.
