Pakistan | 0/37 | 8 Overs | Trail by 196 runs

Another good over for Hameed and Pakistan 2 fours off the over.

Not sure about half the shots Yasir is playing, but he has definitely put England on the backfoot...job done i would say

even if he got 20 of 12 balls, it would be a beck lot better than what the ohter phatoos has done.

stay positive

Granted this opening pair has worked, but Butt saab hiding from opening is the epitome of not leading from the front. I've seen captains going up the order from their usual batting positions to set an example but an opening captain choosing not to open is a first.

Atherton asks, "where has yasir been"?

I remember in India series...Yasir used to play some lovely drives off Zaheer and commies used to go mad at his drives and say something like this guy is class etc...But then Kumble would come and fire one straight,Qureshi would play across and that was that!!!..

Farhat is going to get out if he continues with the way he has been playing.

If you were asked which of these two batsmen was returning to Test Cricket after 2 years. Who would you guess?

Pakistan | 0/37 | 9 Overs | Trail by 196 runs

Maiden again at Farhat end.

We need to make 500 on this pitch .

Am i asking too much ?

No not asking much, infact 4 years ago at that controversial test at oval pakistan scored 500 plus with farhat and hafeez scoring 90s and yousaf scored a century while other batters too made good contributions. Pakistan bowled england out for 173 with Asif and Gul taking 4 wkts apiece. England was on 298/4 and pakistan in a strong position to dictate terms before darryl hair caused chaos.

Pakistan have a great record at oval MASHALLAH and if we manage to score 450 to 500 in the first innings then we will surely be in position to dictate terms INSHALLAH.

he is just following what his gang members do. malik and akmal did the same thing in previous matches by throwing amin and azhar upfront.

Atherton is asking where was hameed before? Well he was unable to find place in the playing eleven because of Don Malik Bradman. Now when the series is lost he got a chance. What a pity

I think he has given enough tries to opening but he is just not in form at the moment. this happens to the best of the players. Form does matter. Just to keep proving that he can do it, I wouldn't want him to keep opening and going back for duck. If he scores better at #3, and others score better as openers, I say excellent.

Accepting your limitations and playing accordingly to benefit the overall team is as good as leading from the front, in my view.

I don't think he is hiding from opening, I think him coming 1 down is very wise, both tests he's been out cheaply and with Hameed in this team he thought its probably a good choice to send Hameed open with Farhat play the new ball instead of getting out cheaply and then the whole team crumbles, this could turn out to be a wise decision and its already working, Hameed is proving himself in his return test.

i can see even when yasir defend , its look more comfortable and brave than farhat defending

i would rather have malik playing then farhat atleast malik can bowl a little

Malik the Parchi had wasted golden years of Hameed. Hameed was never selected because he had no Parchi

Good points.

Farhat doesn't have any strokes on his leg side other than to square leg. Missing loads of scoring opportunities.

InshAllah :moyo

How this guy Farhat continues to be in the team is beyond me. I guess marrying into the right family counts for something afterall.

Not if your limit is first-class cricket as in Farhat's case. He looks so out of his league.

Is this a strategy by the two openers to target only one bowler. Farhat is only facing finn and getting no runs. and Yasir's getting runs mainly in boundaries and only facing broad.

" I thinky they've been picking the wrong team" David Lloyd remarks after Hameed's last shot.
