What makes you think Bell has leadership skills? Have you ever heard him speak?

Broad would be a bit more aggressive and would lead the attack, but lacks emotional maturity and will put his foot in it with the media.

He comes off as a nervous type, but who knows he could thrive under the captaincy - up his game and be the leader England need right now. Broad needs to focus on his bowling, while Jimmy is probably past his use by date.

With these 2 late wickets of tailenders, Anderson has improved his average. No one will talk how ineffective he was in this innings, but only look at a reasonable spell of 3-90.

Mathews wicket was lucky. It was a full toss and a pathetic ball.

The No.11 wicket was amazing. Very hard to get through the defenses of Nuwan Pradeep.
 
350 is the target. England looks demoralized. We wont be seeing alot of fight especially when cook gives it away.
 
Wonder how effective Herath will be bowling to the left handers there is quite a bit of rough for him to bowl into plus England have 5 lefties.

SL should win their first test series in Eng. I don't think that Eng will be able to draw this one.
 
England will have to shut out now and with that comes pressure. SL should just have an attacking field and go for it. But seeing as though it's Matthews, a draw still could be achieved by England.
 
Cook has to go I'm afraid. Not good enough. The tactics in the field were just embarrassing, they basically let Mathews score 160 without putting any pressure on him.

This England team really isn't up to scratch. People will still say KP should be in the team but seeing as though he's hardly pulled up any trees recently, it wouldn't of mad much difference.
 
Bell and Root are the only ones capable of playing long innings.

The rest will simply fold under pressure.

Sri lanka haven't won an away test series vs a non minnow for 15 years.

sri lanka in their entire test history have beaten just 1 non minnow in a test series outside asia(nz 20 years ago) so this really would be the worse series loss for england in a long long time.

This Lankan team is at its absolute pinnacle in all formats recently. Greats like Sanga and Jaya would be gone soon.
 
Jo root is such a boring batsman and he has the potential to scratch for a draw from here. i hope he somehow gets dismissed.

yah, it will look bad but I think he will still get chance against newbie Indian team. He may actually start scoring runs and everything may be fine for him ;)

I guess the lack of captaincy alternatives and his batting record against india might just save him.
 
Man I was rooting for England today but they've clearly been outplayed by a much better and coordinated side..well done SL boys[in advance]
England well all I can say is that we're still doing better than the Footie team :afridi
 
SL must win this now, barring rain tomorrow. What an absolute cock-up this has been. England should/could at least be going into this match winning the series, instead they're on the verge of losing the entire thing. Can see why many call Cook a defensive captain. He's done it again today and his batting has been awful too.

Im convinced bowden just makes his decisions based on the quality of the appeals.

He really is shocking.
 
successful reviews don't get used up. Bowden has been poor giving out from the pressure of the appeal.
