Did we enter a time warp?

This is mid 1990's england we are watching.

Comically bad.

I think SL will win.

Out-of-form Cook and the noobs will collapse to Herath for about 160.

Well, I'm surprised that Prasad is doing the damage.

Dunno where ENG can go from here really..... wasted the opportunity to win at Lord's, wasted the toss at Headingley, 0-1 to SL.

This pitch suddenly came to life as the Poms came out to bat!....Wonderful bowling by Prasad.

Some blame has to be taken by Cook. Utterly mindless captaincy when Herath and Matthews were batting.

My choice of captain is Eoin Morgan, by the way, which would necessitate him also coming into the team from outside but so be it. Comes across as a genuinely intelligent and thoughtful man, capable of casting the tactics computer aside when necessary, which Cook has shown time and time again that he simply isn't able to do.

Broad would also come into consideration, but his fitness is an issue.

embarrasing defeat for the english 2 test series are very tricky it can go either way

india should play 2-0 series against ENG too

I would say lets wait for the Indian tour and if Cook fails there as well then he has to go. Cook has scored mammoth amount of runs in his last two Test series against India , one each home at away so let him be the skipper till the end of the summer.

What's happening to the Engerlund? Beaten in the football, beaten in the rugby, now beaten in the cricket? Is this the time the sun finally sets on Old Blighty?

What a great photo that is. Who says the smaller nations don't care about Test cricket.

KP would make no difference to this, in fact he'd probably make it worse.

Don't know why you have to have a dig at SL. That particular smaller nation has won 2 World Cups and has beaten England in T20 and ODI series this tour.

We've still got cycling and rowing. :)

I hope the England team are enjoying life without KP :misbah

Why? He didn't do much for his last fifteen tests. Do you honestly think he could have inspired an England victory chasing 300+ to win at Headingley?

The problem is that they can't take 20 wickets.

Bangladesh cares alright, same size as SL except they found a way to fit 120,000,000 more people

Mathews wicket was lucky. It was a full toss and a pathetic ball.

The No.11 wicket was amazing. Very hard to get through the defenses of Nuwan Pradeep.

The dude never played with hardball till the age of 20, when he participated in a reality tv show

Even if SL get the historic win tomorrow, I still want to say that this whole series has really been exciting. The plot always changed and made for some great moments like the Root 200, Anderson's crazy burst on day 5 at Lords, Sanga getting his name on the board and also this beast of an innings by Mathews today. Before this series, SL were under so much scrutiny; Sena was reported for his action, the assistant coach was poached by England and our seam bowlers being compared to county level players but we weathered the storm and now have England on the ropes.

By the time the WC rolls out, SL really would have reached a crescendo with many of their greats reportedly retiring. However, the future looks bright with Angelo leading from the front, Kaushal Silva, Karunaratne and Eranga also looking good. I'm sure with experience, SL might keep this momentum going post Mahela Sanga era.

Also, England will need to re-think their tactics. Cook's captaincy has really been poor this series. In my opinion, Cook doesn't deserve a place in the side because of his poor batting. His captaincy has been equally poor so why not give him the sack and give the captaincy to someone whose already reliable like Broad, Anderson, Prior or Bell. These are experienced people who might bring a fresh atmosphere to the dressing room. Some of you also may have wanted KP to return but if he is truly hard to work with then I say forget about him if he doesn't have the right attitude.

So.....let me get this straight. England are going to lose a home Test series to Sri Lanka?

That's just brilliant :D

What's the weather looking for tomorrow? Few Showers could really help England at this moment.

Bangladesh is about 2.5 times as large as SL. 30 years back, both countries had same population density. But our birth rate has fallen to that of the developed countries, hence the population will get stabilized around 25million in about 20 years time.

This is utterly hilarious.

Johnno did more than destroy England on the field. He's destroyed English cricket

English cricket were destroyed because the players were gutless, crybabies and were whiners. Two senior players chickening out mid series was no joke

We'll chase down anything they set. Little Herath will be run ragged as we smash him over his head.

By the time we are done with Herath, he will have a stomach as flat as Misbah's.

Don't be afraid of the old fashioned Herath. He looks like he is playing from a different era of cricket. He waddles around the field, he is a terrible batsmen and he has a belly hanging over his trousers like a person who sits in an office all day and never gets exercise.

Heloo, Is there anyboddddddyyyy........!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hearth scored 48 runs, SL winning the match convincingly. Poor mark :)))

Aussie Import Sam Robson scored most runs for England this test. Few more Aussies will be helpful.

They could use a few more Zims too I reckon. Need to plunder Southern Africa a bit more

What a shambolic performance from england to let SL back into the game, Well done to Matthews and Herath for sticking around with the bat and turning the game around. Cook is a useless captain and always has been and now is been found out, the lack of fight espcially from him with the bat means england are a rudderless ship going backwards right now.

Hope SL win this test now as they have fought hard in both tests and played to their potential.

Gonna be sticking around to see what Moeen Ali is made of. Root, Prior, Ali, Broad can still make things difficult for Sri Lanka.

It is more correct to say that Southern Africans choose to emigrate to the UK because of lack of opportunity in their own countries. Zimbabwe's economy is ruined and SA is sliding the same way, according to my Saffer work colleagues.

Yeah, there's only pride to play for now. Moeen's place is in the balance because he isn't scoring runs and has dropped catches.

Ali has played stupid shots in each of his innings so far to get out. Bairstow is scoring runs, as is Buttler, and to a lesser extent, Morgan. So Ali is the one in danger.

Don't lose hope, they might surprise you yet.

Surely they won't be dropping a guy that has just played two tests? Chopping and changing players this quick and losing out on quality players isn't something you would associate with the ECB setup.

Morgan is a contender but the other two have done poorly, thats why they were dropped, right? Plus, do you really want to see the spin department weaken even further?

Ali stop going after balls outside the off stump. Just stop it you are going to end your career before it starts.

There is much bloodletting about England and Cook in particular but Swann is of the opnion that we are focusing on the negative too much - that Matthews played one of the great innings of test history yesterday, alike to Botham's 149*, and we should be celebrating that.

Its a pity that this is a 2 Tests series only. I can't understand the logic in playing such meaningless series where a chance of a drawn series is highly likely.

I dislike 2 match test series but its better than cancelling the series as has happened in SL's case before. Plus this doesnt look like being a drawn series ATM.

They have no interest in test series over the minimum required length of 2. The board is broke and needs mickey mouse cricket to make quick money.
