This is an enthralling contest, so close. With some good batters left in the hutch.

It should be easy sailing for Eng. Game will be over in next 20 overs.

How was that not umps call?

Especially considering this

Australia were always going to lose this after we let England score over 300 anyway.

Yeah England have clearly bought the umps.

Er not.

See ya later Aussies. Bad luck.

Umps call is only for where it hit and where it's hitting the stumps. Where it pitches there is no umpires call because it is supposedly 100% accurate.

Nothing is 100% accurate they just let the sheep believe that.

Because the line question is exactly where it pitches, and as long as 50% of the ball is in line it is not umpire's call. Where it goes on to hit the stumps is a calculation, and there is more uncertainty listed for that leading to more umpire's calls.

Close-up provided on TV...

And the technology proves that Hughes was out.

Bye bye Aussie.

Have you just seen the recent TV replay? Also do you watch tennis? Hawkeye is pretty much 100% when it comes to where the ball pitches. After that it may be slightly inaccurate.

why doesn't this feel like the ashes? england are cocky and annoying (swann is a ***) AND australia are crap. i'm out.

.

I don't think they would showing up soon James. You get the feeling that the Aussies have punched a fair bit above their weights this game and it would dispriting the way they are crashing down.

That is the fantastic thing about this current England team, they can persevere until the hell freezes over.

Well England were always going to win this series anyway.

Congratulations on the series win.

I've seen enough to back our boys in the return series though. Can't see Anderson getting any swing or an offy bowling any good over here.

England need Agar before they can sigh in relief. The kid had over a 30 average in FC matches prior to this I think.

This is all the fight Australia are going to show for the entire series, it's always the first test where it flares up. Similar in India recently, in Chennai.

If England lose this they would be bigger chokers than Sasha Grey

Australia will win this series and lose the next one at home.

LOL, last 4 wickets and 140+ runs in 4th inning. Relax, game is in bag for Eng.

Well Anderson was brilliant in 2010 and Swann did okay too, so..,

The talent is there but sadly, they do not have the character to challenge a team like England. Same was the case 2010. Your boys competed quite well in each of the games (well maybe not in Adelaide), but once England found their bearings and dug in, Australia wilted away. They are a bit like errm, Indian, SL teams. Boof needs to do some magic to rekindle that Australinism amongst the current bunch.

It's got nothing to with character and everything to do with not being good enough.

I have faith in some of the youngesters though.

Nope. You'll see.

And if Australia doesnt lose a wicket today, they'll win this match too.

It will be near impossible for Australia from here on, given Haddin is not the most reliable batman either. The last wicket was crucial.

Australia can prepare any pitches they like, they'll still be demolished. We bat, bowl and field better than them.

its been a tough time for Aussies with the DRS close calls going against them, but but but but, one has to credit Cook for using his DRS very smartly, something Clarke has to learn!

If Australia lose this game, which is the the most probable scenario now, I will be very surprised if they are able to put up a similar kind of fight again.

Australia is winning this . Agar to score a century making him the highest number 8 run scorer.

DRS should not be a strategic weapon. The goal should be to correct the wrong decisions, especially the blunders. What is the point of having DRS when you cannot overturn the Broad's not out yesterday.

Fair point , that is why The Third Umpire has to be given more power.

Haddin, agar, starc, pattinson, siddle can all bat. Not reliable enough but they have the ability to score a 137 together which is required now.

Im putting my money on Australia. this can become one of the most memorable ashes tests.

A few quick runs up early , if these two can bring it down to 70 required , Aussies would fancy there chances.

Boof what a day!!

I say any team can win. If these two hang in there 10 overs and wait for new ball then Aus have fair chances!!
