England should have picked Monty instead of Bresnan. Poor and defensive team selection.

Australia have played brilliantly thus far. England's best hope is a draw.

Yes was exactly the same for the first Test in India, the 'safe' Bresnan selection ahead of the logical Monty selection and England's seam-heavy attack toothlessly assists in costing them the match.

Flower has never rated Monty.

It will be tough to lose this match, but a draw is definitely possible with lots of time left. All depends on how England turn up tomorrow. There's plenty of runs in the wicket still I reckon and a lot of batting to come with Cook, Trott and Kevinder. Warner will be kicking himself for not cashing in.

It's funny how a good batting display always sets you up to control the game. The bowlers can bowl with much less pressure knowing they have a mountain of runs behind him, and the mindset of the team batting second changes. Winning the toss was crucial. It's a shame how sometimes the toss unduly influences the result, but that's the way it goes and I'm glad Clarke finally called right.
