Watto needs to cash in now, I don't see him lasting long against Englands 'reverse' swing or the new ball.

Aussies going strong....

Aussies in control, we need poles desperately.

First innings of note this series from Twatson

Obviously Lehmann told him he'd be dropped if he didn't perform this test.

I think its more to do with the batting position.

if you are right,Lehmann should tell him that every match :))

300 will make it Australia's game. Anderson seriously targeting 30+ again.

This is Englands best ever team vs Aus worst ever team

It is not Australia's worst ever team. The bowling attack is world class and specially equipped to deliver in England. With a better batting side this Aussie team may have taken the series.

Twatson should stay at 6. He is too likely to miss a straight ball to be a credible opener

Worst batting. ?

It's pretty close to our worst ever.

Least the mid 80s team had the excuse of players getting suspended for rebel tours of South Africa

This isn't our best ever team either. It's a decent one, that's it.

Vaughan's team 2003-2005 was much better than this one.

Game is still evenly balanced here. Both Watson and Rogers need to cash in and score very big runs if aussies are to take the game by the scruff off the neck...

Watson has a habit of throwing awa his wicket between 50 and 99, his conversion rate is pretty shocking!

English batting looks so solid even after the clear miscasting of Joe Root. Cook, Root, Trott, KP, Bell. Drop Bairstow and bring in Taylor. Then comes Prior. It's pretty close to a superb batting lineup. Hadlee 2.0, Kapil 2.0, Swannyg66 and Jimbo can throw their bats around. A solid team indeed. But they have been mediocre after the second test and Ozzies have punched above their weight in terms of batting. Maybe they needed the kick up their backsides at Lord's.

The fast bowling was better and they had a proper allrounder in Fred. The openers were more aggressive. They didn't have a credible spinner, though.

Cricinfo reporting :
Aleem Dar is checking the shape of the ball again

Is this because of the boundary or something else ?

Meanwhile Anderson has also reached his half century 0/52, he just needs to double up now

Just want to make sure that ball is not being tampered or out of shape.

oooh! rogers nearly spoons a catch down the ground. Still there though on 96*

If he gets a ton, then must be a record for oldest test player to get his maiden ton

They won in West Indies and South Africa, won 7 straight home Tests in 2004, beat the Aussies. In those conditions, and with such a fantastic pace battery, they didn't need a spinner. Obviously they were then found wanting in the SC, and many things together saw the side get hammered and forever ripped apart in Aussie. But on its day it was a very very very good England team.

Probably yes. I don't think this is the worst team. The Aussie team that lost to an English team of approx equal strength (to the present English team) at home (3-1) was probably worse. Aussies don't loose easily at home and it must have been a weak side that lost 3-1, and included three massive innings defeats, and was the first time the Aussie lost the Ashes at home since 1985. This current Aussie team has done better in foreign conditions because the bowling unit is stronger.

Dave Nourse scored his maiden test century when he was almost 43 years old...

And Jack Hobbs scored his last century when he was 46 years old...

He scored 60 hundreds in FC but this one hundred is really making him nervous...

300 Test runs now for Rogers in 5 test matches...

The Australian team of 2010/11 was a better team that played a better England team and had form/injury problems.

This is probably one of our worst ever squads that has toured England for an Ashes series.

Bowling is good but Australia has normally had good bowling attacks.

watson gone! strangled down the legside, **** ball from broad but gets the wicket!

Watson give up again so he was nervous too just like rogers...

watson fails to convert a start again, he will be kicking himself for getting out how he has done right now.

That awkward moment when broad got 4 wickets after bowling 18 overs and Anderson got none after bowling 20 overs...

haddin in, so england have an open end to bowl at now...

Twatto did more than what was expected of him. Upto Haddin and the real batters to take the lead beyond 150. Barbara meanwhile continues to turn in the usual 1 outstanding performance amidst 5 unwatchable ones.

Rogers needs to some how get down the other end... stuck in a rut here...

Australia cant go into there shells here, they need to be positive before the new ball comes in 10 overs time.

How many more overs are they going to play, its 20 mins to close

Aussies Tail is weak in this match
and Remember thay will bat last in test match

so match is Blance at the moment

Anderson doing nothing

and Ex england players think he is as good as good Mcgarth,Wasim, marhshall those guys were

Rogers needs to adopt the Sehwag method of getting out of 90s. Right now he is adopting the Slater method though.

If i was him, i would've tried to smash him out of the ground against Swan

Of dear
how that Missed

Swann at top of his game

Ball Keeping low to

4th Inning will be hard for bating
