India defeated England by 336 runs in the second Test at Birmingham and leveled the five-match series 1-1 on Sunday.

India registered their first win at the venue on thei ninth attempt.

The second Test will be played at iconic Lord’s ground between July 10 and 14.

The squads are as follows:

I do not think Poms will go with more green pitch , Indian bowlers will exploit it better.

England need Stokes to lead with both bat and ball. He is the key for England.

Eng are more scared about spicy tracks than us.Yesterday Brook's dismissal and Jamie smith horrible batting against jadeja trying to defend the ball pitched in rough outside leg confirms that.All of them are ftbs to the core with out any technique.They just don't know how to defend or survive on tough tracks.

England tullebaaz only can play on Highway so they doctored the pitch but india is prepared for all kinds of surface as we have resources .

Same brooks said 2 Day's ago that we will chase whatever target india set . These arrogant English player have Shown their places by Indian team.

They thought that their brute power will negate our long innings. They may have expected kuldeep and laid the same trap as 2019 wc group match against India.
 
England players hope Boundary rope needs to come in another 10m. They already shortened the boundary rope in last test due to fear of playing Kuldeep yadav. Such a cowards team .

Pitches ok
but boundaries cmon now?

That’s preposterous.

Doesn’t make the game more appealing. Bowlers have literally nothing to aid them in such type of pitches with rigged boundaries
 
For me England should bring in Bethell to Replace Crawley who would also give us a spinning option.

And if the pitch is a typical flat Lords wicket, then I'd bring in Gus for Shoaib, and Archer for woakes

England have requested a pitch with "plenty of life" at Lord's this week as they prepare to welcome back Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson, aiming to bounce back from a heavy 336-run defeat by India at Edgbaston.

Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum feel the "subcontinent-style" pitch at Edgbaston, combined with Stokes’ decision to bowl first at the toss, favored India. They plan to better leverage their home conditions in Thursday’s third Test and are considering changes to their fast-bowling lineup after a demanding week on the field.

Last month’s World Test Championship final at Lord’s saw fast bowlers like Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada thrive on significant seam movement. McCullum seems to want a similar pitch and has asked MCC head groundsman Karl McDermott for "something with a bit more pace, bounce, and maybe some sideways movement." He expects an exciting match, especially if the pitch offers plenty of life.

India, who struggled on a green seamer at Lord’s in 2018 but won a thrilling Test there four years ago, will bring back Jasprit Bumrah after resting him in Birmingham. They anticipate a different pitch this time. Their captain, Shubman Gill, said, "Let's see what wicket they give us at Lord's. My guess is that it won't be a flat one."

Many teams are in transition. So England thought they could capitalize on this situation. Alas. India sent one of the strongest batting unit in ages. If they replace Karun with better no.3 batsman they will become even stronger.

Definitely sai should be in place of karun.Archer will bounce out karun in 1 over.As naseer pointed out , karun brings his batting in sightly slant manner towards mid on and it will never work where ball bounces or seams a lot.If it's a seaming pitch as mentioned above, i don't see kuldeep. Rohit and kohli retirements brought world of good to us
 
Archer is a guarantee only Bairstow and Wood left... Crawley is just a new swepson for India and Bumrah.

pope is unreliable too. Rest is fine. Bashir is just in the squad for Pant wicket lol. Don't know what happened to Leach
 
England only lost cause they weren't playing at full strength and the pitch was a subcontinent pitch
 
The Lords's wicket always does something on the first morning -- not sure what either captain will choose to do if they win the toss.

Stokes calling for a spicier wicket is fine, except they will be playing against a rested Bumrah and Root is the only English player with a really tight technique.
It's gong to be hot and humid -- looking forward to a fun game with a better balance between bat and ball.
 
England's best bet is having INdia collapse. If they cannot trigger collapse they will go big. At Edgbaston India won 14 out of 15 sessions. That is a mind boggling domination. So there has to be some psychological effect. Pretty sure bowlers must be sick and tired of being on the park. So i expect a lot of grass on the surface. Especially batting first will be tricky.
 
Stokes has asked for a spicy pitch . What would their likely attack be - Atkinson, Archer, Woakes & Overton?

IND - Bumrah, Deep, Siraj, Kuldeep, Reddy, Jadeja?

In this situation only an exceptional individual brilliance can win it for Poms. Overall man to man , India is ahead of them, there is no doubt.
 
Interesting, will England risk playing simultaneously 2 bowlers who are fresh, but not cooked coming back from long injuries?
 
England should bring in Jack Leach.... I think he will bring more experience. Gus is also good addition.

Bumrah is gonna be back also so India might like it. Prasidh needs to go..
 
England urged to unleash Archer on India during Lord's Test

It's becoming more likely that Jofra Archer will play his first Test match in more than four years in the Lord's Test that begins on Thursday.

England great James Anderson thinks his former side must take a chance and play injury-plagued fast bowler Jofra Archer in the crucial third Test against India at Lord's.

Archer hasn't played Test cricket in more than four years, but recently made a red-ball return at first class level for Sussex prior to joining up with the England squad for the second Test against India in Birmingham.

England fell to a disappointing 336-run loss to India in that Edgbaston clash to leave the five-match ICC World Test Championship series evenly poised at 1-1 and Anderson believes Archer must play in the third Test that gets underway at Lord's on Thursday.

"You could keep trying to build his overs up and play him later in the series, but it could be too late by then," Anderson said.

"I think he will play.

"He's played one game for Sussex, he was around the team at Edgbaston and bowled a bit. I just feel like you've got to play him. It's too crucial a game not to."

England coach Brendon McCullum stopped short of guaranteeing the return of Archer, but did say the towering right-armer was fit and available for selection.

"Jofra is looking fit, he's looking strong, he's looking ready to go, and he'll come into calculations," McCullum said.

"It's hugely exciting. He's buzzing as well. He's obviously been through his injuries and his time out of Test cricket.

"We all know what he's capable of achieving in Test cricket and we hope that when the opportunity does arrive for him, he's able to recapture and also improve on what he's been able to do already in that form of the game."

The possible inclusion of Archer isn't the only change England are considering to their line-up for the Lord's Test, with fellow fast bowler Gus Atkinson and back-up batter Jacob Bethell also in the running for the crucial contest at the Home of Cricket.

Bethell has only three Test appearances to his name with his most recent match coming against New Zealand at the end of last year, while Atkinson hasn't played since he hurt his hamstring in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Nottingham in May.

While Bethell's inclusion would provide England with another spin option, McCullum said he won't take the place in the XI of first-choice spinner Shoaib Bashir.

"He's a batting option," McCullum said of Bethell. "He's the next one in if something happens.

"He wants to keep improving his bowling so that he can obviously impact the game across both the bat and ball. It's not something we'd look at from a tactical point of view to do."

It was an outside factor that no one could have predicted. Team India is filled with cheaters and hence the English Media is exposing them.

England is not known to lie or cheat and havent done so since Bodyline while India always cheats.

Imo England should curate another uber flat track and bat first.

The boundaries now need to be made even smaller around 60M. They can outbat india this way

It's more that Eng lead bowler is Chris Woakes after departure of Jimmie and Stuart.

Gill was averaging something in mid 30s before this series, but just after two match his avg went to mid 40s.
 
i am getting 2008 perth vibe..tait was supposed to wreck the indian batsmen with his pace...it turned out to be his last match..

that could the case foR archer too.

Trescothick, openly admitted in his book how entire team have systematically tampered the ball during 2005 ashes

And if india had sundar akashdeep and shami all playing every game

Esepcially shami they would have smashed Aus just like they did the last 2 times prior.

Vs England they are different beasts on flat pitches so I still favour England 60 40 unless India replace karun with jurel and anyone over useless fodder Nitish.
 
Bumrah replaces Prasidh which will make Siraj ineffective with the older ball.

Siraj should also be given the new ball. Bumrah can bowl 4 over spells just like Starc does for Australia.

But even if it’s 60 mil yuzu chahal can never hit a 6 loooool.

I hope it is a 300 to 350 type wicket.

Gus is good but not so much on flat tracks
Bethell I am not sure if he is better than Crawley

Archer is good but just back from injury. I still feel he is a white ball bowler.
 
If England makes flat deck again, Gill & company will smash England bowlers for 600-700.

Better to make wickets which aides seam bowling.

Anyway, England should win assuming they stop making mistakes. They fumbled at the toss and took india too lightly.

England only win first test due to dropped catches ( 9 ) otherwise india would have leading the series 2-0.

After lord's test it will be 2-1 in India favour :kp

Lords test, what's the weather forecast ? Also guaranteed England will be batting if they win the toss, they know the baseball gimmick won't work against the Indians with momentum now with the visitors..

Gambling is a highly regulated industry in the UK, companies have to provide their customer data to the regulator so they can be cross-referenced against professional sportsmen.

I have worked in gambling app .so I know the behaviour of customers and ways used to violate .using friends accounts, cronies , sending money transfers to some unrelated persons, off-line purchase through a random person, people sending international transfers to friends where betting is allowed .that's why it's addiction like ***.people will do random stuff. As per betting law of averages, he must have atleast lost 150 or more.so its an addiction for that guy .its reasonable to guess he did harakiri and ecb covered it.
 
Contrary to some people's dirty thoughts, i took inspiration from the Yin Yan theory to contemplate retirement on this number.

Gill was never batting at no.4. This is his first time. Besides he has fixed a lot of issues in the last 1 year. He made 452 runs in India against England. Gill was failing in India as well against ENgland in the first tour. Had he opened he would have had average returns. Kohli was occupying his spot for far too long. You are saying Jo Root world no.1 batsman could not buy any runs here against India's second string but GIll somehow got more runs against Tongue, woakes, Stokes? Tongue played one test against Australia. He took out Warner and Smith in both the innings.

If he was aware enough that his activity would be reported that he was using a friend's account as you accuse him of, then why would he knowingly break the rules on an account in his own name?

Don't believe in momentum especially in Tests. India required a record breaking batting from their captain to win that one to go with one of the greatest new ball spell as India took 17 wickets with new ball. India just had a small new ball window with a pathetic third seamer who can't make use of new ball. More importantly apart from a couple of drops took most out of their catches.
 
India have been the better team by far this series. Lost the 1st test due to dropping many catches. Bumrah almost had Brook on day 1 if he didnt overstep which would've chenged the course of the game.
second test was a thrashing,
jamie smith just reduced the margin of defeat

England may replace both Tongue and Carse for Archer and Gus. I hope Woakes also gets a rest, he is not as good as he used to be.
Unfortunately, England are keen on sticking with Bashir, he will play until the ashes
 
Anybody who has any idea about Gus Atkinson, he is also a potential replacement available for Pohms

As per ecb rules, no professional participant is allowed to bet on cricket anywhere in the world.Even after knowing that, he just violated it 303 times over 2 years.its really interesting to see how much amount he has placed on his own side knowing his team morale, pitch, team selection etc.its nothing less than spot fixing.

England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been banned from all cricket for three months due to betting violations

He placed 303 bets on various cricket matches between 2017 and 2019, although none were on games he played in. Despite this, his actions breached the integrity rules that prohibit any professional participant (player, coach, or support staff) from betting on cricket worldwide.

Carse accepted the charges and was given a 16-month ban, with 13 months suspended, meaning he will serve an immediate three-month suspension until August 28, 2024. If he commits no further anti-corruption offenses in the next two years, he will face no additional sanctions.

The 28-year-old, who signed an England central contract in October and has played 17 white-ball internationals, expressed remorse and took full responsibility for his actions. He thanked the ECB, Durham Cricket, and the Professional Cricketers’ Association for their support and pledged to work hard to repay that support on his return.

The ban rules him out of making his Test debut this season, as England’s last home Test against Sri Lanka starts shortly after his suspension ends.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Cricket Regulator emphasized the seriousness of the breach but acknowledged Carse’s cooperation, remorse, and growth since the offenses occurred. They hope his case serves as an educational example for other cricketers.
