What's new

England vs Pakistan | 5th ODI | Leeds | May 19th, 2019 | England innings

Now the commies are discussing about potential collapse in the world cup :) Lot of self-doubts even with 311 runs on the board. No talk about bowling well? lol

But look what I was talking about not a single tail ender imagine chahal and bumrah batting here lol or any other tail ender from another team this is why they will most likely win the world cup

You gotta appreciate England. Even after such a bad middle order collapse they are still looking at 350-360. Most teams would have reached 310 at the most.

Tbh I feel Hasnain is very raw and Shaheen isn't exactly fully developed too. Shaheen needs a year in domestics. I would have picked Rauf ahead of both.

In CT 17 pitches were providing much more assistance and more than that it was dry conditions and thus reverse swing was in the game. If conditions are anywhere near CT 17 style I wont be surprised to see Hassan Ali giving some good performances.

He's had those dry conditions in UAE for two years, so where has that reverse swing gone for him in ODIs?

What made him so good in the CT wasn't just reverse swing but his variety - multiple slower balls, sharp bouncer, yorkers (with reverse) and etc.

People thinking the death bowling has been really good where as England are more circumspect of the situation of their score and being 8 down with 10 balls to go.

Tall claims, based on what exactly?

Saeed Anwar, Ijaz Ahmed, Inzy and lower down the order they had Moin Khan, Wasim Akram, Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood.

So as you can see a lot more firepower in their batting.

The only thing that has improved in our batting is the top 3 overall.

Actually during CT the bulk of the death overs were bowled by Amir and Junaid. Even then Hasan mostly operated during overs 15-40. Perhaps he isn't exactly suited for death bowling.

Would have loved Amir and Rauf bowling yorker after yorker here these two are leaking 8-10 runs an over to numbers 9 and 10 Mashallah. Imagine if Morgan and Buttler were batting.

This is exactly the reason why they load their side with batsmen who can bowl. If England's collapse due to some unplayable spell by a bowler they will keep recovering. This is why opposition needs to have good bowling. Exploiting the collapse. Today they had a collapse. But i don't think Pakistan exploited as well as they would have wanted.

Half of these fans that go to games in the UK that are Pakistani don't even watch cricket.

Nahhh I miss the 90s team. They would have scored 400 with ease against this bowling attack. You keep giving the impression we've made substantial progress because we've score 3 x 340+ scores, but you've failed to factor in the deviation from par score, which is what actually matters.

As a PAK fan, given 2 propositions of PAK scoring 361, 359 and 340 in 3 games VS PAK conceding 373, 360 (45) and 343 (48) - I actually do know which is more disturbing :)

As an Indian I am more fearful of Australians than the English. Australia with a potent batting attack and probably the best bowling attack will challenge us more than the poms.

after dropping handscomb and turner, their batting is not as good. smith was never australia's best odi batsman and has not played in a year. maxwell is the only power hitter they have. stoinis is a hit or miss all rounder. top order is their only strength.

with jhye richardson injured an out of form starc. cummins and zampa are the most threatening bowlers they have.

I was also favoring australia, but after they dropped handscomb to accommodate smith, left out turner and injury of jhye, they don't look as convincing

Haris Rauf would have been handy in these conditions at the death and those 10-20 runs are what make huge difference in the game. Oh well

Can't remember the last time Pak bowled out a side... we have a chance today.

As per Mickey he is too "raw"..... but Hasnain is in advanced stage of development.

If Pakistan can restrict England to below 350, so can England, and if their batting can have a relatively off-day, so can ours.

The bhangra crowd have celebrated prematurely and they might be left red-faced in a few hours.

Smith is a impact player

It’s a shame that Abid Ali only gets a single game to prove his worth, but I hope he takes this chance and helps to chase this total down!

430+ was a possibility.
Have you always been this pessimistic or has it developed with age?

Oh there is no Archer today !! It is christmas for batsmen then. But i think Moeen and Rashid will be better today. Pitch is somewhat sticky.

I think we missed a trick by not selecting Haris Rauf here as his yorkers would have been quite handy here

Dont understand the point of bowling slow balls in last over and that too when you can bowl yorkers

My sadism always kicks in when Hasan gets smashed. It is always a pleasure to witness.
