Sadly, I do not see us winning this one. However, if the team shows fight and some key players (Hasan, Babar, Imam, Haris) regain a bit of form, we can go on a winning streak starting with Sri Lanka in the third match, IA. Hope they play this XI:

1) Imam
2) Fakhar
3) Babar
4) Haris
5) Hafeez
6) Asif
7) Sarfaraz
8) Shadab
9) Hasan
10) Amir
11) Shaheen

I want this 11 but sarfraz and hafeez and asirf should come at 5 6 and 7

Hafeez and Asif are better batsmen than Sarfaraz, however, the captain has shown himself to be a clutch finisher in the past. That is why I want him to bat at #7.

1. Fakhar
2. Imam
3. Babar (wk)
4. Hafeez
5. Malik (capt)
6. Asif
7. Imad
8. Shadab
9. Wahab
10. Hassan
11. Amir

Atleast, I have the courage to bench sarfraz. :)

I would drop imad. He has basically learnt nothing on this tour batting wise while his bowling has deteriorated.

Pakistan might drop Imad and bring in Malik for Haris

uff...i am going to have a migraine. england likely to have wood and archer in their attack, and looking to post 500.
Our response is going to be bring in uncle malik.

Weather is looking good positive news! Rain rain go away!

Glad you're back, hopefully Ramadan went well for you

I've never seen the pakistani public so pessimistic on twitter before.
They're fully expecting eng to thrash pakistan.

Lots of rain today according to report on cricinfo, meaning there could still be cool air in the morning. Do Pakistan risk bowling first if they win the toss?

No no no, what am I saying, bat first and get a solid score on the board!

Bowl first whether it rains or not. Any condition. Bowl first. I was meant to be there again tomorrow but last match's performance has left me broken, hopefully we can win tomorrow so we can go watch the Sri Lanka game with more hope otherwise we're done for this world cup.

We’re against the best odds are extremely against us Betway at +300 for Pakistan from +150 which shows we basically just going on the field and that’s about it

Going to the game tomorrow hoping for a better show from Pakistan....our team does not show fight when chips are down like in the last game when top order got blown away lower order just surrendered to windies

Bangladesh's odds were the same against sa.

I'd say that's fair enough. We are facing quite possibly the most dominant team in this World Cup tomorrow, at Trent Bridge. There's a lot that could go wrong

Here's hoping Pakistan come alive tomorrow. A resurgent Pakistan will be great for the World Cup.

Wahab should be axed, bring back Shaheen, at least he got 4 wickets in the previous game against England. Looking at this out of form bowling line up, I wouldn't be surprised if they score 500 tomorrow.

I would play Imad as a specialist spinner, as he can bat compared to Shadab who seems like a tailender. We should look to lengthen our batting as much as possible for tomorrow's game, or it would be game over if we go with 4 specialist bowlers.

My playing XI;

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfaraz + *
Malik / Hafeez
Asif
Imad
Hasan
Amir
Shaheen

Any news on the team?

Last match it was announced beforehand.

It'd be like us to win. But I can't see it happening from anywhere.

I would say bat first and get 300+ and bowl them out

Looking at England they can chase, but you cant chase every game + it is World Cup not a bilateral series

My team
1. Fakhar
2. Asif ali
3. Babar
4. Imam
5. Haris
6. Hafeez
7. Safraz
8. Wahab
9. Hasan ali
10. amir
11. Hasnain

Obviously, this team is not going to be selected, but i think it is the best team and combination we can make out of the squad available.

Hafeez should swap places with Malik. If you look closely at his fielding in the last game, he was slow on his feet and that is a cause for concern. Malik at least is a good fielder and a safe catch on the boundary. His bowling is under utilized, he flights the ball and along with shadab, can cause some problems for English batsman.

The other change must be shaheen for wahab. I would prefer hasan for shaheen but then the attacks become one dimensional.

It's better to be pessimistic now than taking sleeping pills after seeing pak getting thrashed by England

So happy I could not get the WC tickets. Travelling from USA to England , as I was planning , to watch minnow playing against a potential champion side ?

Lets hope for a washout tomorrow, our only chance. I'm sure Saffi is praying for the same.

You don't think Zimbabwe, Scotland, Ireland would have fans coming from their countries if they had qualified??
They're all minnows after all.

Because England are an absolute monster of a side who are expected to win the World Cup

Who are we in comparison? Just there to make up the numbers

Fans are pessimistic but there also scared for the team

The England fast bowlers are gonna bounce us out which could also lead to injuries

Malik is the only hope for these fans

I should be fast asleep by now after a long day and night, but I'm SCARED FOR WHAT TOMORROW COULD HAVE IN STORE.
england could score 450 and we get bundled out for 200 odd.

Damn this is painful.

But I'll be watching tomorrow and inshaAllah the guys can pull off something special

InshaAllah some fight will go a long way in ensuring some pride even if we lose

I was planning on sleeping early and staying up after Sehri to watch England get demolished. I guess I'll just have to wake up when they are 100/6.

Can be a nice easy victory for pak if they done their homework!
Prefably bat first and set a decent target. Not hard to do. Archer and wood are going to bowl fast bouncers at pak batsman. Pak batsman should have practiced ducking and weaving. Dont play at ANY bouncers, you are likely to get a wide for them. Thats about it for bowling, the rest of the english bowlers are rubbish. However, pak have a tendancy to give woakes a bunch of wickets. Just see of woakes, dont play at his wider deliveries and they should be fine. Post score of 330, quite easy to do on this small trent bridge pitch.

When bowling to england, bowl in the wickets, give them no room and bowl slow. Pacers should bowl at 70 - 75mph. Bowl alot of cutters. England want to play their shots, then let them generate their own pace. Sure they will hit a few sixes but they will eventually, give their wickets away. Bowl the odd quick bouncer and yorker, to suprise the batsman. No bowling back of a length, bowl a good length but not full.
The spinners should try to keep it simple and not try to take wickets. Keep it tight, no loose deliveries, frustrate the england batsman. They might hit you for a few sixes, but if they bowl tight and slow eventually, the english batsman will throw away their wickets.
Simple plan - bowl tight and good lengths. And bowl very slow( pacers 70mph, spinners 45mp), frustrate the english batsman by not giving them any width or pace. Get them to take chances and generate their own pace. They should SELF DESTRUCT!

If you duck and weave 20 overs and not score anything of Woakes, you are going to end up with a substandard total which your bowling is not going to be able to defend.
