So, today's victory was overall England's 14th test match victory in India.

Following is England's record in India

Matches Played 61
Matches Won 14
Matches Drawn 28
Matches Lost 19

W/L ratio = 0.736

Overall, England have won 5 series in India. Only West Indies have a better record than England in India.

Since 2000, England have the best record in India out of all teams. They have won 4 tests and lost 8 with a W/L ratio of 0.5

Serious questions have to be asked about our performance against what is this middling team both home and away.

Fair to say we always make England look better than they are.

This. We have a serious mental block against England. Be prepared to be whitewashed 0-5 during our English trip later this year.

Yes as a Pakistani fan I’ve noticed this, what is with India playing against England? Even the last series in England, India really shouldn’t have lost that series 4-1. That was an average English side, do you think that the traditional edge between an Australia and India series motivates the Indian side more than a series vs England?

Don't know tbh! We were doing fine till that ill fated series in England in 2011! Since then our record against England stands at,

Played: 24; Won: 7; Drawn: 3; Lost: 14

Thats extremely poor.

Yeah India we’re really good against England in the 2000s but then it did help having that insane batting line up. But I think the tactical blunders by the current team don’t help. Like playing 2 spinners in that Lords test match. But India should be doing better and I expect them to come out all guns blazing in the next match!

Yeah, our selections have been really poor especially under Kohli.

Not fair on India, who beat a powerful England in 1972/3 home and away, then 0-2 away in 1986, 3-0 in 1992 and 4-0 in 2018.

Lol, easy there no 0-5 is happening in England this summer. It will be a closely contested series.

1992 English side was really poor to be honest. Even 1986 English side wasn't that great. That English side lost plenty of home series.

1986 side had just come home from a 0-5 obliteration by WI and clearly several of them wanted time off. Gooch had got used to superfast bowling and seemed to be playing three shots of the Indian FM array. Botham got himself banned. The visiting India team was very good though: stronger batting that the current side, with Kapil and a good spinner in Maninder.

1992 side had Gooch who scored 450 runs in a match against the same bowlers a couple of years earlier, Atherton, Stewart, Robin Smith, Hick who did very well against spin. They really missed Gower (out of favour) and Gatting (banned) though.

Also some bad selections - remembering JK Lever in 1976 they picked another left-arm quick because he was left-arm not because he was good enough, and no second spinner to support Tufnell.

Hit the nail on the head, swing is king, and in Anderson one of the very best

Pakistan isn’t exactly renowned for its playing of swing either, have seen Jimmy make a fool of many Pakistani batsmen before but I think India is slightly worse at playing swing than Pakistan!

Pakistan's record vs England in the same period is.

Played 15
Won 8
Lost 4
Drawn 3

W/L ratio of 2.0 for Pak against England and W/L ratio of 0.5 for India vs England since 2011.

So two contrasting records for both teams vs England.
