The new season starts in a couple of hours or so. Here's your discussion thread. :)

Leicester will be in relegation fight

Chelsea will not retain title

United to finish in top 2

Palace in top 10

United - City - Chelsea - Tottenham will be your top 4 in this particular order.. Followed by Liverpool and Arsenal..

Utd and city will most likely fight for title. I think utd need danny rose or perisic to strengthen left side for a stronger title challenge

Arsenal 1-1 Leicester, with 2 goals coming in 4mins, 24 mins gone.

Well Chelsea lost not a good start for them and two red cards mean two crucial players will miss match against Tottenham now.. Good start for the season

OMG Chelsea lost to Burnley at home:harby Last night's Arsenal/Leicester match was awesome with the home team coming back from the brink. My Liverpool did what they do best which is score and concede openly. We looked like scoring every time we went forward and conceding every time the opposition did in particular from set pieces and corners. Klopp must let go of his obsession with Van Dijk and find some other few classy defenders to sign before the window shuts. There are many like Sami Hyppia and Stefan Henchoz if you know where to look. Without a good centre back we'll be leaking goals like the Titanic was water.

Chelsea losing to Burnley was a surprise. They'll be active in the last few weeks of the market.

Happy that my team Arsenal won. Think we will score goals but need to improve defensively. Whilst I think we should sign a CB, it's not the be all and end all. Need to get our current CBs fit and organize ourselves tactically and stay in shape.

The only team that looked solid this weekend was Man City. However even then they didn't look as sharp as Arsenal, Liverpool. It was just an indifferent win vs B&HA.

Man Utd should win. I'm expecting a 2-1, or 3-1. We tend to concede in the opening game so can't see any changes. But Lukaku will bag two and Mkhi will score too.

Newcastle 0-2 Tottenham FT, with goals from Alli and Davies. Helped with a red card from Shelvey though.

Great start for Lukaku at Manchester United.

Please open that thread of who is the best buy - Morata, Lecazzette or Lukaku. Joe Mou is arrogant and narcissus, but that guy knows what he is looking for.

Another 4-0 win for Manchester United; has Mourinho's bus turned into a Ferrari overnight? :murali

ahmedwaqas92 The big game is coming up! Arsenal fans better start praying. :))

Realistically speaking, and since I have now joined the ranks :ma, we should seriously consider to go all out for the title this season.

Arseanal was pretty noobish and I'd be looking forward to seeing how the other 'top 6' play when they confront the wrath of Stokes City and the Targareyan Race

Aren't you stoke city fan? You want/expect them to win the title this season? Pretty optimistic but I guess if Leicester can win then anyone can..

Huddersfield Town defeated Newcastle 1-0 in the first match today.

Tottenham v Chelsea is up next; should be an interesting game.

We haven't looked very impressive today, apart from the goal. Spurs have been making most of the attacking moves, and the game seems to be heading for a tight finish.

Battle for top 4 will be interesting

Atm UTd City Plastic Club n Reds look sharp

Let's see how Roland Koeman' Everton fare

Pep needs to spend some money to shore up that defence... see, his right-back just got a red card. :ashwin

Full-time: Manchester City 1-1 Everton.

Tight finish after Everton also went down to ten men towards the end, following Sterling's equaliser.

Just goes to show with today's draw anything can happen in the EPL. Early signs are Man Utd are looking good, Arsenal vulnerable and Liverpool frustrating. Chelsea were good against Spurs yesterday. The show has just began. Enjoy....

The two Manchester's are looking good. Utd still have to face tough opposition before setting the standards this season.

Is draw a good result ?? considering we were playing who I've never really heard of before (no offense intended to any of the said club's fans here on PP ~ I am quite stupid when it comes to football  )

It's not an ideal result. West Brom are not one of the strong teams. However, you still get a point for the draw, so it's far better than losing.

Ok I've never really asked this to any of the Football fans here but are we (Stoke City) one of the strong teams ?? We previously beat Arsenal (who I think are a strong team), so in the eyes of an average Premier League fan where does Stoke city rate ??

Honestly speaking, there are at least eight superior teams in the Premier League. Over the past few seasons, Stoke's best finish has been somewhere around the 9th spot, but at times they finish outside the top 10. The win against Arsenal was a great result, but weaker teams do manage to pull off such victories from time to time due to the competitiveness of the Premier League.

The football world would be absolutely stunned if Stoke City were to finish in the top four, let alone win the Premier League.
Sorry if that sounds a tad harsh, but I know you didn't start supporting Stoke for glory hunting purposes anyway. :stokes

Stoke City held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw. Solid result for ahmedwaqas92's lads.

Defense is still way too mellow for my liking, we got lucky there Choupo-Moting had an Afridiesque game tbh; won't happen everyday. Plus we are quite lacking in the possession % as well.

But Hey !! I am not really complaining here :afridi - Lads did well !! Alhamdullilah

Haven't lost a single game since that Arsenal one which is just :108:

I would recommend that you get accustomed to that asap :afridi1

That is how it is with most underdog sides; they rarely dominate possession.

FSG's media band is now playing new tune - I have read about 4 so far : we are just 3 points behind top, that's just about one match to cover!!!!!

What happened to Chelsea are in crisis, have no squad depth and won't get top 4? We're one point off the top and have a bench that some first team players can't get onto the bench (Musonda, Kenedy and Costa if he's ready to make peace even though its highly unlikely). We've won 3 games in a row without our best lineup (which imo includes Hazard and Willian) and Morata has contributed to 5 goals in 4 games. The media is ridiculous sometimes.

A word of advice - don't start believing the myth that possession wins you games or even matters. It's a useless statistic these days with most teams who are successful using a counter attacking style. Obviously there are some teams that still value possession like Barcelona or Ajax but it's still mostly irrelevant if you want to find out if you're playing well or how the game is going.

Frank de Boer has been sacked as Crystal Palace manager after five games and 77 days in charge.

Former England boss Roy Hodgson will replace him, BBC Sport understands.

The Eagles are 19th in the Premier League after losing 1-0 at Burnley on Sunday - and failed to score in their four league matches under De Boer.

Announcing the 47-year-old Dutchman's departure on the club website, Palace said: "We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work."

Former Ajax boss De Boer only took over this summer, succeeding Sam Allardyce, who left after helping Palace avoid relegation last season.

De Boer's past two jobs have lasted a combined 162 days - he was sacked by Inter Milan in November 2016 after 85 days.

Prior to that he had won the Eredivisie four years in a row, between 2011 and 2015.

His only win as Palace manager came in the EFL Cup against Ipswich Town.

Should Hodgson take the job on a permanent basis, he will be the club's seventh permanent manager in six years.

Palace chairman Steve Parish was at Turf Moor on Sunday, and said afterwards: "It's a terrible start but we have to stick together.

"People are frustrated, I'm frustrated, so are the management and players. We know we are better than this.

"I'm defending everyone at the club who is working their backside off to turn this around. Football teams lose games. It happens.

"Who has the better squad, us or Burnley? We had a much weaker squad when we finished 11th. The buck stops with me; I've never run away from that."

Speaking earlier this month, Parish had said De Boer's start had "not been great" and football was a "results-based business".

De Boer made two major signings at Palace, paying £26m for Liverpool centre-half Mamadou Sakho and signing Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald for £7.9m.

He also recruited full-back Timothy Fosu-Mensah and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan from Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Renato Sanches will flop in PL as well I think.

Portuguese League Serie A or whatever it is called is his level
