SECOND WICKET!

Robin Uthappa lbw b Mansoor 52 (61)

Misses a straight one from Mansoor. Ball may have been going down the leg-side but nonetheless a very important wicket for Pakistan at this stage.

India 121/2

Into the tail now so a collapse should be coming

India 124/2 in 23 overs

Rohit Sharma is the new batsman at the crease

Venugopal Rao 12*
Sharma 1*

Mansoor is bowling quite beautifully - spinning it a lot, and also giving it air.

We need to bring in Yasir Ali and get rid of the myth surrounding him too.

lol...

line them up and expose them all....enuf hype...lets go with what our coach has to say abouth upcoming pacers...

From what i saw of Yasir Ali against Bangladesh in 2003 he seemed to me a clone of Ata-ur-Rehman. But then i hear people on PP going nuts that he can bowl 95mph etc. This guy has hardly played any domestic games over the last 3 years yet there is clamouring for his inclusion. He is a injury prone medium pacer at best.

India's third fifty coming off 78 bals. Spinners definitely helped in slowing down the scoring rate.

Gul getting some swing. 5 runs off his last over, which included a lucky boundary for Venugopal Rao.

India 154/2 in 30 overs

Venygopal Rao 29*
Sharma 11*

Arafat back into the attack. 4 runs from his comeback over

India 165/2 in 32 overs

Venugopal Rao 35*
Sharma 14*

By the way, who thinks we needed full strength team in this tournament??? :20:

Irshad is fine but why Gul and Samiullah??? I would send a full strength squad to Australia but do we really need players like Misbah, Hafeez, Gul, Hameed , Samiullah etc against these teams?????

This indian team is NOT reall A team, 3 players are from their 2006 U 19 WC squad. Even Ireland has sent their B team.

Yes I agree that tried and testes failures like Misbah and Hasan Raza shouldnt be there. I would like to have seen Fawad Alam in this team. He had a decent domestic season and is a good fielder. Samiullah is a 31 year old guy I just dont see the logic in picking him either. We should have given one of the recent U-19 guys a chance too instead of the tried and tested failures in this squad.

Fawad Alam should have been given a chance but the funny thing is that Shahid Yousaf ( very good future prospect) is with the team and he still doesn't get a game even against Netherlands :| Why would you need MIGHTY Misbah to beat Netherlands???

whilst 4 overs doesnt tell us everything, So far Rao is consistently faster than Irshad as are Asif, Gul, Arafat and Rana!!

I'm just surprised as to why so many players were backing Irshad as a speed demon if he bowls in the early 80's. Something somewhere doesnt ring true

India 187/3 in 37 overs

Dinesh Karthick is the new batsman in after Venugopal Rao was out to Hafeez

According to cricinfo Taufeeq mar bowled 6 overs for 31 runs :20:

Hafeez only bowled 7 overs ( they showed he had completed 9 overs before).

What's going on???

Well India are playing Uthappa, Venu, RP Singh, Chawla and VRV Singh whom are all in contention for the first team. If you include Karthik then its definitely a full strength A team.

Sharma gets lucky there. Skied the ball to the mid-wicket region, Bazid tried to reach the ball but couldnt. Sharma moves onto 31 with a double

I don't think anyone of them is more than 25. Looking at the opposition, i don't think we needed FULL strength squad to face UAE, Netherlands etc.

Very good over by Mansoor. Only 2 runs off it, that too from the first ball of the over.

India 215/3 in 42 overs

India finding it really hard to hit boundaries.

What's age got to do with it? Samiullah Niazi is around 30 but has never played an international match. The Aussie A team has several players over 25.

Maximum by Sharma! Lofted Mansoor over long-on for a huge six. First six of the match coming in the 44th over

India 230/3 in 44 overs

Sharma 48*
Karthick 19*

Great shot!

44.6 Mansoor Amjad to Rohit Sharma, SIX, Maximum! flighted delivery
outside the off stump, Sharma charges down the track and lobs the
ball over long-off fence

Pakistan bowling well in the death overs (as was the case in the 2nd ODI v India in the Friendship Series). Mansoor, even though he got hit for a six, has kept the score in check and Arafat's last over cost only 3 runs.

India 233/3 in 45 overs

Sharma 49*
Karthick 21*

FOURTH WICKET!

Rohit Sharma c Ishad b Gul 62 (71)

Gul bowled it short, Sharma replied by pulling the ball straight into Irshad's hands. Very well played, not to mention this was his first List A match and also against the likes of Gul, Arafat etc. Top effort!

Amjad bowling the second last over of the innings.

FIFTH WICKET!

Dinesh Karthick c Yasir b Mansoor 33

Brilliant running catxh by Yasir. Karthick was getting restless and finally he skied one to long-on where Hameed took a good running catch. Second wicket for Mansoor Amjad, bowled really well this kid!

SIXTH WICKET!

Badrinath c Misbah-ul-haq b Gul 1 (3)

Lofted to long-off where Misbah took a well judged catch. Second wicket for Gul. India losing wickets in a hurry now

49.2 Mansoor Amjad to Karthik, no run, pitched outside the leg stump,
Karthik tries to play reverse sweep, no contact made, keeper
removes the bails and appeal for stumping, third Umpire called in,
Green light flashes!
49.1 Mansoor Amjad to Karthik, no run, sweeps and misses the ball
49.5 Mansoor Amjad to Badrinath, one run, push to cover point
49.4 Mansoor Amjad to Sodhi, one run, swept away to short fine leg
49.3 Mansoor Amjad to Karthik, OUT: Gone this time! pitched outside the
leg stump, Karthick charges down the track to get reach of the
ball and heaves it to long-on, good running catch taken by Hame
ed
in the deep

Great over by Mansoor Amjad. :D

Good shot by Jadeja to finish the Indian innings.

They have ended up with a good total of 269/6 from the alloted 50 overs. Gul's last over was pretty good until the last ball on which he got hit for a boundary through the covers. Tough ask for Pakistan now. Chasing 270 will not be easy on this pitch

I am confused.

Who bowled the last over? Mansoor or Umar?

It was Umar.

Not my fault - crapinfo acting up again. :12:

S Badrinath c Yasir Arafat b Umar Gul 1 (2b 0x4 0x6)
RS Sodhi 3* (2b) Umar Gul 9.1-1-46-2 (2w)

stump, beaten outside the off stump
49.3 Umar Gul to Jadeja, one run, pitched up delivery, batsman drives it
to deep cover point
49.4 Umar Gul to Sodhi, legbye: one run, short pitched delivery, sharp
bouncer, Sodhi pulls the ball taking off eyes from the ball, ball
bangs the helmet and rolls down to point, nasty blow to Sodhi
49.5 Umar Gul to Jadeja, no run, slower delivery, Jadeja fails to pick
it up cleanly, playing away from the body, beaten
49.6 Umar Gul to Jadeja, FOUR, Finishes off with boundary! pitched up
delivery outside the off stump, Jadeja leans back and cracks the
ball to deep backward point fence, ball races to boundary rope!

End of over 50 (6 runs) India A 269/6 (RR: 5.38)
Umar Gul 10-1-51-2 (2w)
RS Sodhi 3* (3b) RS Jadeja 5* (4b 1x4)

We need to get a good start - Hameed and Taufeeq have to fire.

There seems to be a few players who played in that under 15 WC final back in 96. Hasan Raza, Taufeeq, Yasir and Bazid? Sodhi from the Indians also played (their captain I think)

LOL

:))) :))) :)))

This is a decent score but not a winning one necessarily considering the batsmen on show for Pakistan. The ball though is keeping tad low and is spinning a bit.

India never broke away to thrust towards 300 much due to Taufeeq and Mansoor Amjad's tight line and length.

Yah, today was not impressive but time will tell for sure what's the case here. You can't have more than a few ex-Pak players praising a young bowler's speed for nothing special.

Six sixes from the first over would be nice.

Hameed went LBW to VRV.

Vrv singh at 87.5 MPH.

what happened to our beloved Irshad? 4 over 27 runs no wicket... all the hype for this? and bowling mid 80s... :9:
