Another Sunday ramble of inanity, apologies.

Is fate entirely in ones own control or is it dependant on surroundings?.

It can be argued that an individual is able to alter their situation through free will but what about when the situation or certain cultures ingrain a psyche, or hold views simply not in line with common thought, that a stasis and ultimately malaise, destroys the whole and insidiously destroys the people within it?.

I have come to the conclusion that free will is an illusion. We already know what we are going to do from instant to instant.

And if the universe really is a great machine as Newton and Descartes thought, then There Is Only One Thing Going On.

Determinism (not Fate) makes more sense to me.

Any example of what do you mean by "we already know what we are going to do.."

from a universal level it seems unlikely, however that's primarily because the impact of our actions are largely neglebible on a cosmic level, however day to day, in our small lives, its useful to not think of free will in a universal sense, but in a local sense, as the ability to exert our will over surroundings and people, and in that sense i definitely believe will is free, and that we are fundamentally responsible for how we react to the universal uncontrollables.

i don't know what malaise and destruction u are referring to.
