Will it be Pakistan tomorrow?

There 3 teams likely to be knocked out in the next three days in the following order:

Pakistan
Sri Lanka
Bangladesh

Its a last in first out order. They are going out by the lowest ranking order.

Instead of Champions Trophy, it should have been a World Series between India, England, Australia & South Africa

PAK won't be out till IND-SRL match, even if they lose again by 129 runs. Technically, SRL can beat IND by 100+ runs & then SAF beat IND by 100+ & then PAK beats SRL by 250 .....

PAK & SRL will be out at same time if they both lose the next 2 matches. BD & NZ will be out same time, if AUS beats ENG next day.

Pakistan's most likely going to lose against South Africa today. Then, the result of the Ind-SL game becomes vital, as if SL lose, then both Pak and SL are out on the same day. Bangladesh still in with a decent shout to qualify.

Assuming there is no rain in todays game íf Sri Lanka lose they will be virtually out of contention, although not technically but it would be almost impossible as they will need India to beat SA and then crush Pakistan. But one of BD or NZ will definitely go out tomorrow, more likely BD.
As I see it, it will be
1. BD
2. Aus/NZ
3. SA/Pak and SL will all have a chance till the last match.

Most likely Sri Lanka, followed by Bangladesh, Pakistan, NZ.
Semi line up
India, South Africa, England And Australia.

BD will be the first if the lose to NZ

Pretty sure we will beat NZ. We have Banglawashed them twice and won the last game. No way we are going out without a fight and our star players are better than theirs.

Expect Fizz and Sarkar to star.

Would have been bangladesh but rain saved BD. I vote Srilanka. Weather looks alright, no chance against India.

A fluke prevent Pak. Now BD and NZ will be first if Aus wins else Only BD.

fluke is when Bangladeah wins
your team is hanging by thread you should be lucky rain saved it from being first one to be knocked out
otherwise Aussies were going to decimate you.

If SL manage to beat India today, then India will have to beat SA to go through (unless Pak/SL is a washout - then it's on net run-rate).

Even a SL/India washout today leaves India in a precarious position as it would mean a defeat to SA could eliminate them (since Pakistan could then beat SL in the last of the group matches to go through). And SA beating India isn't out of the question.

So today's SL/India match is probably key to India's chances.

A fluke win and so much noise...huh...see all the posts regarding Pak team by pak posters just the day before yesterday

Doesn't matter about what posters were saying those were emotion swings after loosing to india.
Bangladesh is still a minnow and was going to be the first team knocked out.

everyone knows that Pakistan is capable of winning as for Bangladesh they consider it upset when they win.

We beat you 3-0. You are #8, we are #6 with the big boys.

lol. beat us 3-0 After getting smacked for last 20 years and that too when our most of the players were new.
carry on with your chest thumping

and remember you got so many points after playing zimbabwe twice a year for last 5 6 years.

We beat you 3-0. You are #8, we are #6 with the big boys.

You are #7 on the latest rankings table, on 92 points, 2 points better off then Pakistan. The team in #5 position is currently 11 points ahead of you. So how are you with the big boys?
Thank your luck that the rain arrived at the right time in your last match and not 20 minutes later otherwise you would already effectively be out of the tournament. Not to mention loss of 1or 2 more ranking points.

The whitewash was 1)in Bangladesh 2)like 4 years ago. The last game literally 4 of new Zealands key players weren't even playing.

That is the bottom line. Rest is just your sour grapes. Bd>Pk (and SL) and it's not even close.

It's not even close that is why we comprehensively beat you in the last two times BD and Pak met (in the 2016 T20 WC and warmup)

:salute :salute

Haha, the team with zero ICC trophies under its belt continues to speak as if it is so highly accomplished.

Warm up means 0. You are living on past glories whilst we are toppling giants each new day.

We are much more likely to win an ICC event now than you. You will likely play WC qualifiers.

You are likely to win an ICC event? You would have been out of this tournament had it rained 20 minutes later...

You may have been as well.

another icc event another no win for you the trend continous

and to burst your bubble Pak will most likely 6th in the ranking after champions trophy if Nz (most probably)

ban and pakistan beat srilanka

deal with it

Bangladesh fans on here must be the most delusional fans of any sport. Imagine if they actually supported a team that had achieved something.

And I don't mean any offence to the genuine Bangladesh supporters here who sadly seem in the minority. Maybe it's just trolls. A lot of them, mind you.

Why not? If they lose two, aren't they out?

Nope if India wins their two games and SL wins the last match, Ind will be on 6 points whilst Pak, Aus & SL will all be on 2 points and will come down to NRR :)

Actually don't want to argue people like you (closed eyed blind). Ok. Pak team is the best team in the world now despite being 8/9.Be Happy.

A supporter of a team, with a couple of home series win in their history, currently on the verge of crashing out of a tournament, accusing another team, with a couple of world titles in their history, who have just beaten a world class team to stay alive in the same tournament, of living on past glories. That's it folks. Time to shut down the forum. We have seen it all.

Pak fans are not good either, may be worse.

Amazing really, isn't it :))

Minnows gonna minnow though.

Yes we were the best in test matches recently as we were number one (though for short duration but we still were, deal with it)

We are currently ranked 3rd in T20 rankings.

Yes we have struggled in ODI for sometime (Although have just beaten world no 1 side pretty comprehensively) but cricket at the moment consists of three formats and being at no 6 in one format which Bangladesh is cant make a team world beater or a big team by any stretch of imagination.

I respect all the teams but please be logical.

no 1 claimed Pakistan is best.
but whole of cricket world know who to fear more.
while they still consider Bangladesh as minnow.

Really? You mention the whitewash that happened ages ago and we are living on past glories when someone mentions the warm up or the T20 WC from 2016?

Which giant(s) have you toppled in this tournament?
You do realise that you need to win more than one game to win an ICC tournament.

Now, we have 4 eliminators in next 4 matches - out goes

1. Loser of BD-NZ
2. If AUS beats Poms, winner of BD-NZ goes out
3. Loser of SAF-IND
4. Loser of PAK-SRL

This is a remarkable tournament, where after 8 matches, still all 8 teams are in it.

I agree, to them Shakib is a better all rounder than Kallis and Imran Khan

I think Pak and India have equal chances of getting eliminated. SL look dangerous and SA is not going to lose another match in group stages.

Won't happen - he'll score a selfish 50 against SRL to cash on bowler's good job to take PAK to SF. Greatest opportunist of all time - but to his credit, he has managed to sell his trade to every corner.

The innings that he & Malik played yesterday - alter the person, PP server would have crashed by now curing Malik & PTv's cricket program (s) as well.

I still back him to lead PAK in future, as long as he can walk in a cricket field.

SRL has played their match of the CT - I expect them completely flop in the decider. Also, not sure how many fit players will be available for Monday.

SL has more ability to post a 300+ score and hence they have higher chances of beating Pakistan.

Same logic applies to Pakistani bowlers. They are not going to restrict a team to such a low total again in this CT.

It may very well be India now. :)))

How fortunes change. :))

Seriously dude last night i was on indian forum and indian fans were already discussing about SA match that they gonna come hard on us and we should lose purposefully so that pak doesnt qualifies :P

india then sri lanka. i expect south africa and pakistan to go through. australia will be eliminated as well.

May be, but if I were to bet, I would have put money on PAK, SAF.

From other group, not sure what Poms will do, specially now they are confirmed group leaders - AUS might beat them to 2nd spot.

SAF-AUS
ENG-PAK

SF for me - but, this tournament is affected so much by rain, you never know. If DWL/Wash-out comes into equation, anything can happen.

Pak cannot chase anything above 250. So only way would be limit srl within 240.

if SF gets Washed-out then who goes to final? whats the math here?

Some of the posts prior to SAF match I can bring here, which foretasted what SAF would do if they bat first ......

Every game is new & it's built on momentum - against IND, PAK players were shocked by that last 4 overs onslaught. Today, Indian bowling faced the same once SRL started to counter attack. PAK's problem while chasing 250+ score is that 3 of their top 4 creates fear among the team with their extra cautious display - something embedded into PAK team under Misbah's style of leadership. This often makes a target of 256 like 319.

That philosophy helped Misbah's cause of justifying 65/70 type of own stats, selling the idea of saving collapse. But, I am sure Arthur is smart enough to fix this - Ahmed already is dropped, while the shot that Azhar played yesterday - he won't have ever tried during Misbah-Waquar era & still could have justified "consolidation". I won't be surprised if Fakhar & Azhar/MoHa (whoever opens) comes out with guns blazing - only Babar should be allowed to play his natural game, which most times reaches 80+ SR by 25th ball.

I don't think, SRL'll defend any total - if they are to win, they'll have to chase. Which, they actually are capable, because of couple of players in PAK top 4. SRL attack isn't penetrative at all, but it's decent restrictive attack, which can catch teams off-guard - particularly teams that has players like Azhar, MoHa in top 4, which easily can end up scores like 273/5 with one of them scoring a nice 110 of 127. If I were Arthur, batting first, I would have promoted Babar, Sarfu & Malik at 2, 3 & 4 - dropping MoHa at 5 & Azhar at 6, as alternate plan for 60/4 situation, otherwise Imad bats at 6.

This bowling strategy of SRL isn't new - in 90s, Arjuna often used to catch IND off-guard bowling first, with scores like 225/4, 270/3, 260/4 ... with Tendulkar cashing on a nice Ton, only later Sanath & Hari blasting their way to chase it, putting whole blame on the bowlers. MoHa is twice the selfish, with a fraction of ability, that too at his pomp (now he is a zombie of old-self)............. least said about Azhar is better.

if SF gets Washed-out then who goes to final? whats the math here?

I think, SF has reserve days & in mid June, in UK,one can play between 9AM to 9PM - SF won't be wash out, so whoever is to reach Final, has to win the SF, be it a 20 overs shoot out.

If IND-SAF match gets washed-out then SAF misses, as their NRR is lower, winner of PAK-SRL takes the group lead.

If that one is also washed out, IND & SAF goes through as 1, 2.

Bro what are your predictions which teams are likely to go through from Group B now?

Don't know about the other group. But Saffers should be knocked out against India. The SL will be knocked out by Pakistan.

From Group B it seems like India may be the first team to be knocked out this Sunday. But at least they beat Pakistan so I am sure the fans are happy with that.

Bye bye Bangladesh. Poor old Bangladeshi fans were hyping a bit too much.
