Game of Thrones [SPOILER ALERT]

'The King in the North scene' was sad! Arya Stark's character scene is taking interesting twists. Please no spoilers there! Joffrey keeps getting insulted, loving it :)) Dany's scene was quite boring and predictable to be honest! Ser Davos stands out. Stannis FTW

I haven't read the books but Stannis is in my top 3 characters in the series so far. I can tell though that the character in the series hasn't been fully thought out as the others have.

Basically.
In the books Stannis never actually makes the decision to burn his nephew (with Davos moving him off before).
Davos is also the one who convinces him to go up North rather than Davos convincing Melisandre to tell Stannis to go up North.

Plus Stannis was disgusted by the Red Wedding and vowed to destroy those responsible.

That would be more in line with what my perception of him is - being the only real king out of them all.

they have let the stannic character down some how i presume?

In the books he's a conflicted character with both bad and good sides.

In the show they kept the bad side and erased most of the good sides- in addition to making him Melisandre's puppet (in the books he is actually making the decisions and trusts Davos more than Melisandre).

On the other hand they have done the opposite to Tyrion by removing all of his bad side.

Really? I would loved to have seen an evil side to him.

Nothing substantial that the show hasn't conveyed. He was lustful for Sansa, he was satisfied at being in line for Winterfell and he raped the prostitute he was married to. We may get rape in future seasons.

As for Stannis, it makes sense for his character to sentence Davos to death since he betrayed him, irrelevant of his personal feelings. Sick of people taking ASOIAF as gospel or some other kind of literary masterpiece.

yeah it doesnt make sense to let davos free and then order him to be killed?

it actually made sense if he hadnt ordered his nephew killed and what you said

That's not the bit people are complaing about. It's the fact that he is nothing more than Melisandres dog.

And ASIOF should be the gospel for a tv series adaption of it.

This is the "they made my Kingdom bleed line in the books"

I shall bring justice to Westeros.
Every man shall reap what he has sown,
from the highest Lord to the lowest gutter rat.
And some will lose more than the tips off their fingers,
I promise you.
They have made my Kingdom bleed,
And I do not forget that.

And this is in reponse to hearing about the Red wedding

I read the books a while ago, but the way I remember it, Stannis was almost in the fight more because of his sense of duty than his desire for the crown. Because as things stand, if Joffrey is indeed not a Baratheon, than the Iron Throne is Stannis's by right. In the show they make him out to be kind of desperate and power hungry. He also appears to be genuinely dedicated to the Red God in the books. In fact the only time he appears ready to forgo his desire to do what's 'right' tends to be when he needs to cut corners for the betterment of the faith. In the show it appears he is only interested in the Red God because of the 'miracles' the Red Priestess is able to perform for him.

And in the book, at least to me, he again went to the North out of a sense of duty, believing that as the true King of the Realm, it was his duty to protect it while all the pretenders bickered among themselves. Not at the whim of the priestess as in the show.

Which he is in the book too. And why shouldn't he after everything she does? There is a specific dialogue where he says that he doesn't believe in her god but that he belives in her. Yes, he is the one who decides to go north but Melisandre gives her approval too.

And it's an adaption, not a transcribing. It's a different medium where dialogues are not everything. You are supposed to understand Stannis' true feelings by the fact that he freed Davos (he doesn't want to burn Edric) and the last scene, vastly on purpose to show the audience that it's Davos council all along:

I'm happy they scraped the cheesy and pre-adolescent fanfiction dialogue that is ''You must save the realm to win it''.

Re: Game of Thrones

Yara Greyjoy . Nice way to insult her cowardly father. Loved Ser Davos and Gendry scenes. Happy to see idiot Joffrey cower at badass Tywin's deathly glare.

Great to see Ser Jaime as not the brash bad boy but a more humble and reasonable guy. Arya and The Hound

Can't wait for Season 4. This episode felt too short.

Agreed that they portrayed Stannis's character wrongly. He had other reasons to be insensitive (not cruel) towards Gendry (Edric Storm). That chapter actually had the most amazing Stannis quote in it, something about everyone reaping what they sow from the highest lords to the lowest gutter rats!

Everyone was crying because Arya did not do that stupid coin scene. But now she did it and it was much better than in the books, because she did after seeing Robb Wind and the Red Wedding to a Frey. As opposed to a 10 year old cold blooded killing with no particular reason to be resentful.

Stannis will probably do all these dialogues but purists can't get a hold on themselves.

Its an adaption not a replica.

Some of the characters will be slightly different. For better or worse.

Deal with it.

9th episode has always been better than 10th in all 3 seasons.

This.

Every 9th episode of the 3 series so far have had more turn, twists and new stories introduced then the finales themselves. TThe 10th episode normally sets up the story for the new season coming.

Good ending, a little anti-climatic but no complaints after that monstrous ninth episode. The long wait begins again. Mondays are not going to be worth waiting for. When does season 4 air?

We're still allowed to dislike the fact that they're doing a hatchet job on one character.

Yes, he's doing mostly the same stuff as in the books.

But he's now only doing it because Melisandre tells him what to do.

In the books, good or bad he made his on decisions.

I will be starting the books this summer. I'm fed up of reading little spoilers before watching the episodes :))

Really did not wish to see this scene. :(

Re: Game of Thrones

Was I the only one who hadn't read the books and thought 'oh **** they're going to kill Jon Snow off as well'

I'm up to the 4th or 5th episode I think. Got a lot of catching up to do.

Thank you for ruining my day I got this scene off my head after so many days and now all I hear is "king in the north"
The actor who played Rob was apparently a knob, I hope that helps :)

the queen finally reclaimed her ONLY reason to continue living and the unburnt is gaining some real might :moyo next season is going to be special

Ramsay eating "porksausage" was epic :)))

"Oh come on, do you think I'm a savage" :))

Re: Game of Thrones

I hate Balon Greyjoy the most. He is a poor excuse for a human being. A loser.

im liking the changes they made too yara (asha) greyjoy

her scene was epic , have rewatched it many times

They like glorifying the iron borns for 2 minutes every season. I thought theon getting baptized was a captivating scene as well last scene but then i saw nothing of them.

hopefully season 4 will have a lot more stannis, right now to non book readers he is just a douchebag whoes only saving grace is that he values his daughter

I remember reading something a while back that he came off arrogant and snobby to a fan who ran into him at a diner.

i remember him saying he hated going out because would start shouting "THE KING IN THE NORTH"

would love too see that happen

Some non book readers I know think Stannis keeps his daughter locked up in a dungeon.

10 episodes it so less. Now we have to wait untill April 14th....I am seriously thinking of reading books??

People who read the books, do you think it spoils the show experiance??

Nope.

Only that you do tend to be annoyed at parts where it differs from the books.

Long wait..tbh the finale could have been a bit better..but it sets up the nest season beautifully.

It does spoil the TV experience but you get to know the characters a lot better.

Sandor Clegane stole the season for me. Hound for King!

Game of Thrones

Who else hates Khaleesi? I hope her stupid, ugly dragons die and she gets executed. I find her very annoying and arrogant.

find her scenes as the most boring and predictable. Also annoying how she keeps harping on and on.

definitely, before it was ok because of the odd flashing of breasts but even those have stopped completely or reduced vastly :iqasim
