Game of Thrones [SPOILER ALERT]

wow we actually have a similarity :akhtar

The battle at the wall will be make or break for stannis in this show. If he does bad stuff there he will always be a semi villain. I have hope that they will make that a moment which changes peoples opinon on the character. At the very least they are staying true to the book in regards to Stannis's relationship with his daughter

I agree with you on this 100%. :akhtar

George RR Martin is a cool dude. He once was editor of a collection of short stories called Night Visions 3. He wrote a foreword on how horror is difficult to write and people tend to thumb their noses at the genre in order to appear intellectual when in fact the genre deserves more respect. Heartwarming stuff!

I am the next George RR Martin. He seems my kinda man but my novel isn't likely to do well because its a boring plot, very boring in fact. :22:

NOBODY likes the stuff they write. Atleast you have the courage to release what you wrote. That's 90% success right there.

But I think the epic fantasy genre will always sell like hotcakes. Someone somewhere would buy into it but its extremely difficult to come up with a plot, you can't force it. It just explodes into your head.

You should try to write some horror stuff, definitely have potential.

Re: Game of Thrones

I have a novel drafted up. When it is released it will be massive. But i will sell its movie rights before releasing the book.

Charles Dance is some Actor...

That was a quick reign... I thought Joffrey would last for a bit longer....

Charles Dance has added an extra dimension to Tywin's character.

I also like the guy (aka Putin's long lost brother) who plays Roose Bolton. He doesn't look like Roose but I reckon he has the mannerism down pretty well, especially the voice

It's odd. He doesn't look or sound like book Roose yet he seems perfect.

Probably because book Roose's look, clothing and mannerisms don't suit a visual medium.

I reckon he sounds like roose, a soft voice that still gets a message across. Plus he barely shows much emotion.

Bit disappointed he isn't wearing that human skin cloak though

Roose Bolton guy has his character nailed. Very smooth and slick. :raja

I don't like the new Daario Naharis, even though appearance wise he's more accurate than the previous one but not as alluring.

Daario is someone else who has to change from the books. Can you imagine what blue hair and gold teeth would actually look like?

Lol true but I don't understand why Jamie Lannister has turned into a male brunette.

Lol true but I don't understand why Jamie Lannister has turned into a male brunette.

Because blonde hair=Lannister=Evul

The same reason the Thenns have gone from the most civilised and advanced wildlings to cannibal orcs.

Has there even be a more universally hated character than Joffrey? Most famous villains have their fans but I am yet to witness a single person who has a liking for this douche.

I don't like discussing Game of Thrones online or offline with friends because it quickly turns into "but the book was so much better, and this character doesn't match the description in the book...". Soon you have spoilers spilled from the big-mouth book-reading nerds. They act like as if the show was made for them and they need special recognition at every discussion for reading the stupid book.

Why can't people discuss the TV show only? I'm not interested to find out if all Targaryens have purple eyes or hair in the book. It didn't cost the fat writer any money to color everyone's hair purple. That's why the show and the book discussion should always be kept separate.

Since that is not going to happen, I stopped discussing the show with my best friend, since his cousin reads the book and he knows a little too much for my liking. He told me months ago that Joffrey will die at the start of 4th season. Of course in return I told him that Walter White dies in Breaking Bad and Pinkman survives. He was still watching the last season of Breaking Bad.

The books aren't stupid, they are amazing and to truly understanding the characters, you need to read the books. However, its as good an adaption as possible because no TV show/movie can be better than its book(s).

You need to stop whinging. You may not be interested, but I don't see other non book readers complaining about certain people passing info from the books. No one is gonna stop because your highness doesn't like it. :jf

I've only just started watching this as I wanted to know why there was so much hype surrounding it.

I think its absolutely brilliant. Compelling viewing.

I'm only up to episode 7 of series 1 but I'm already hooked on it.

***** Spoiler Alert ******

When do you think Tyrion will be committing the cleanup act (as he does in the books)? Those who have read the books, know what I am talking about. It involves the elimination of two more characters. Will that be in the next few episodes, towards the end of the season, or next season? I am inclined to say it will happen towards the middle or the end of this season, but I have not read the books, just happen to know what happens, so I am not sure but really curious to know.

So wo

Thanks.

^ If I were you, I wouldn't wanna know. Wait and let things unfold. Trust me, the real stuff is only starting.

Season 4 and Season 5 would be the best seasons without a doubt.

Abandon this thread, anyone who reads the book, any youtube video comments and anyone who's caught up with the show and has a big mouth. Every place is full of spoilers, specially since people who have read the books want to be cooler than you.

Some of GOT episodes cost as much as $5 million. Don't waste the experience by knowing the spoilers, even if by accident. I have blocked jerks from my FB and have refused to talk to my best friend about GOT for spoiling this one of a kind experience for me.

Also, please consider banning anyone in this thread who spoils it for anyone.:yk

I hope everyone in this thread gets banned. So many spoilers!
+1. Fortunately I haven't even read any spoilers in this thread, but I feared there would be some, and I already know enough spoilers from coming season. That's the downside of a show with books out.

Thanks.
I think episode 9 will be a combination of stannis arriving at the wall and Tyrion killing Tywin. Don't know if in the show he will kill shae, she is different to book shae. The amazing Charles dance said he will have scenes in season 5, in guessing that's his funeral procession, so tywin must die fairly late.

Also I hope like the books they do hint at the fact Oberyn poisoned twyin before he dies, Tyrion if anything saved him from a painful death

Only one advice. Stay away from this thread

Only one caveat with Game of Thrones... has OTT nudity and sex scenes. Its not one you can watch with family.

Agreed. The red wedding was mentioned here when the 3rd season began.. :(

But somehow all the TV guys would like to know those little secrets without dwelling in much, but unfortunately end up knowing everything important.

Update - now up to Season 2, Episode 1 :)

My wife and kifs are abroad, I did a marathon 3 day session and watched all 3 series on sky on demand. Its very addictive, I only planned to see one or two episodes a day :)

Season 2 Episode 3 now. I'm catching up :)

Those who have started watching now will be super depressed once they catch up and get to wait for every Sunday and then a massive season break.

Just one question to all the people bashing book readers here. I agree spolier tags should be used, but what do you expect when you enter a massive thread about a TV show? Do you plan to just read thousands of "this is awesome" posts

Exactly. What are we going to talk about in this thread LOL? and I personally try my best not to provide spoilers. I mainly comment on how some characters are different on screen.

Me too. You download through torrents or watch online?

I do both. :moyo

I don't bother with online streams, prefer waiting till a good resolution rip is out there.

Btw, their last episode broke all piracy records. :))

Guess who?

Yeah heard so :91:

I don't have the patience to wait for the torrents so I watch online in decent quality and then download a good quality one to add for archives. :moyo

Not content with the Stannis butchery they've turned to Jaime

He is now a rapist

This week of episode was okay; slow paced. Some interesting turn of events in this episode is too good to ignore.

The mastermind of assasination plot of King Jeffery is not unveiled yet; but in next week of episode, the court will be interesting part as Tyrion Lannister is clearly innocent, and especially with his wife escapes secretly; yet his wife is not behind the poisoning the king either. My bet is on Tywin Lannister who may found King Jeffery too much to handle. The next one, younger brother of King Jeffery, is easier to handle, nice and naive, can be easily handled by Hand of King; Tywin Lannister, Allahu Alim. I thought the show is going to do justice by portraying Kingslayer Jaime lannister as per according to the book based on people who read it.

I just feel cheated at joffery's death. I feel he should have been nicely tortured and then left to die!!! Poison is so tepid! He deserved a gruesome death. There are so many bad guys in this show! hard to pick who is the baddest of them all. Joffery is at the top but i feel ramsay bolton is not getting his due as a villian. Seems to me in ancient times killing methods were really bad these days just a quick bullet and u are done.. In GOT someone or the other is tortured maimed and some body part cut off!! very cannibalistic.

Charles Dance.

Olenna Tyrell was quite the beauty in her younger years, could have been a Bond girl ;)

The new Daario was smooth but I still prefer the previous one.

Cannot visit the thread anymore.... Have to wait for mrs to catch up!!.... She is only on 34 episodes behind :)

New Daario is cool and seems like a much better actor, its just that we don't like unnecessary changes.
