Show's and books Night King are two different persons. The one you are talking about was the 13th Lord Commander of Night's watch (most likely a Stark) who fell in love with a white walker girl , mated and wed her , enslaved his sworn brothers through magic to do his biding and turned Nightfort into his personal castle.
He was later slained by King in the north in a battle .
Ah ok. I didn't know it was from the book. I am just about to start the second book. Read that bit of info on NK on some forum.
Off topic, brilliant avatar. One of my heroes!
Book's character was Knight's King, and show is Knight King, they are completely different characters. Knight King is the most powerful character in the show by far(his supernatural powers are far greater than anybody else), yet we know next to nothing about him after 65 hours of show. I don't think other WWs have the powers of Knight King, he is the one who creates and controls the Army of dead, creates new WWs, can see Three Eye Raven in their visions and probably much more...
Also, in show WW concept is different, there is no female WW, they cannot reproduce either...Show and books are not clear on how they beat or made piece with WWs 4000 years ago, maybe some of that will be revealed in season 8 and last two books of the series...We still don't know what caused WWs to become so active after 4000 years?? - One of the thing, writers keep mentioning that, keeping lot of info mysterious and vague makes it interesting and peopled hooked...I guess that's why religion has so much fan following, truth is mysterious, everybody can make up there own and still attach to the core idea...
There are so many gaps in the story, that's why RR Martin & Co are writing lot of prequel and spin off material, it make sense now, when GOT brand has so much fan following and well known in the world...GOT is seen everywhere in the world, its probably biggest and most popular TV show in the history...They would milk as much as they can, going forward.
