Different Sports, Different Roles.
Which job do you think among the two is more difficult and more demanding?
Personally, I think it's the WK in Cricket as he has to remain in action for one half of the game with Gloves ( and then has to come to bat too).
During the bowling period of a team, a WK has to remain active during all the balls that are bowled, constantly coming up at the wicket for the Spinners and has to be vigilant at all times. Add to that the diving catches taken by a Good WK like Haddin or Gilly or a Quick Stumping or a run-out by Dhoni requires fast reflexes and intense concentration. To be able to read the doosras, offies, leggies from different bowlers is an art in itself and a WK is under pressure at all the times.
OTOH, in Football even though Goal Keepers are fit and athletic who make some excellent saves but remain missing from action for most part of the 90 minutes. The Goal - Keeper only ever comes in play when the ball enters the D area or if there is a free kick or a corner which constitutes a very small part of the overall 90 minutes.
And then there are some matches between Strong and Weak Sides where the Ball hardly ever reached the D-area of the strong side due to constant attacks by the Strong Side and all out defensive play by the Weak team.
