Govt retrieves bulletproof Mercedes cars from Nawaz Sharif's Jati Umra residence

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Bullet-proof Mercedes of Cabinet Division were retrieved from the Jati Umra residence of former premier Nawaz Sharif today (July 4).

According to the sources, Cabinet Division asked the former supremo on June 28 to return the luxury cars. These cars were given to him from the PM House on May 31, 2017.

Cabinet Division sent a letter asking to return the cars to the transport pool immediately as they were not under Nawaz Sharif’s use anymore.

The letter was received by the superintendent of the Kot Lakhpat jail who handed it over to the former premier. Cabinet Division demanded the official Mercedes back after the letter was received by Nawaz Sharif as another copy of the letter was also sent to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice President Maryam Nawaz, as per sources reported.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the retrieval of missing goods have started from Jati Umra residence.

She expressed on Twitter that the nation are getting buried under the poverty while Sharif family were enjoying in luxury cars.

Information Minister asserted that Nawaz Sharif was enjoying in the luxury cars on the money of nation whereas talking about public feelings while sitting in jail is a mere deception.
