8. Maxwell
9. Morkel
10. Narine

Nothing shows up the amount of difference between IPL and odis/ tests than the fact that Malinga and Gayle are the best IPL cricketers.

Players are picked on historical records. Don't be an idiot. Bradman still makes people's test teams and he is dead.

I've been playing IPL fantasy league for some years now and know for sure that Maxwell has more or less been a flop at the IPL barring 6-7 games. Rohit can replace him or a good bowler - Ashwin maybe.

Ashwin apart from 2010-2011 has been decent to bad in IPL.

Bhajji anyday gives more value to an IPL team.

Has IPL produced any star from the 7 Indian players rule which wouldn't have come to the fore if not for this rule?

Basically do the regular watchers think that this 4 foreigner limit is a good thing or a bad thing?

I think it is a good thing. Players like Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Ajinkya Rahane (in the past), Sandeep Singh etc etc, have pretty much been unearthed due to this 4 international players rule. People might have their own opinion as to whether these 'Indian' players are of any value. IMO, yes they are valuable and gives India a lot of options. For e.g. a bowler like Kuldeep Yadav can be a future star. Had there been no restriction like the EPL, it would not have been the case.

I feel it should be 6 foreigners allowed

5 per playing eleven still gives enough quantity to find quality and the talent is not diluted either

might hurt the indian cricketers financially

Even I agree that 4 is on the lesser side. IMO, it should be 5.

Rahane slogged in domestic cricket for years before he was noticed through IPL. Players like Steve Smith, Glen Maxwell credited their international success to IPL. A domestic player works equally hard as an international player but gets paid peanuts. IPL gives them the financial security they deserve.

lol rahane is 26 and ipls been around since 2008 so 8 yrs

so where does rahane playing for yrs in domestic cricket figure?

7-4 combo based on performance across all all IPL seasons

Gayle
Gambhir/Dhawan
Raina
Rohit
Bravo
Dhoni
Bravo
Bhajji
Narine
Malinga
Zaheer Khan

1. Guys like Kohli, Yuvi mostly flop in IPL seasons so can't be considered.
2. With great pain, I had to exclude ABD (not his fault at all) cos Bravo is needed for the 5th bowling (and he is BIG BIG deal in IPL) Gayle has achieved more in the last 7 seasons of IPL. Though looking at the way ABD is playing now, he would replace Gayle soon enough.

Sorrry Bravo was included twice.

Gayle
Dhawan
Gambhir
Raina
Rohit
Bravo
Dhoni
Bhajji
Narine
Malinga
Zaheer Khan

so you have both bravos brothers

and malinga, narine, gayle, bravo, bravo make 5

well tbh I don't know the respective performance and stats of bravo brothers so not one to speaj but they are certainly not big namess

Dwayne Bravo is a HUGE deal in IPL and he was chosen cos we need 5 bowlers.

Him vs Hussey is a no contest when you have to pick 1 (and Hussey was our 2nd best player across seasons).

^ tbh it doesn't look such a beastly team

^ tbh it doesn't look such a beastly team

It is.

IPL is a completely different beast compared to International cricket.

Guys like Yuvi have been consistent flops in IPL. SRT was good for a few seasons and that's it. Kohli was nothing special.

These 3 are rejected automatically compared to the rest.

Dwayne Smith is another guy who will be chosen over many international stars.

Rahane just played 2 games in 2008. The mods didn't let me post the link but there's an article on the cricketmonthly that explains his struggle

id drop narine and bring in Mishra (was checking stats and Mishra seems to be a beast in ipl)

then get ABD or Maxwell in for someone

ok yeah im having a read

my fave ipl and the last one I followed to some extent (iits hard to ever really follow it due to an infinity number of matches) was the season in South Africa. I remember Hayden was a beast with his mongoose bat and Gilly did so well.

I think I had some sort of school break too then so used to watch part of the matches every day.

My team was based on IPL performance across several seasons.

Maxwell performed for some 6-7 games in IPL and flopped otherwise.

Though his impact looks great, his consistency isn't there (in IPL).

Narine....man....he was just unreal in IPL. The best bowler I have seen in IPL (I would even put Malinga as No 2).

Mishra is not 1/100th as good as Narine in IPL (Mishra always has on-off seasons).

ABD is definitely great but Gayle achieved more than him in IPL.

Narine is not 1/100th of what he was before he was called out for chucking. Agree with everything else

ill make my own stats guru influenced team in the next few hours :D

ok yeah im having a read

Even Raina, Jadeja can thank IPL for reviving their careers. Raina was dropped from the team and he claimed his place again through a brilliant season in IPL. Yadav is in team just because of IPL. Shami is in the team because of IPL where he was guided by Wasim. Miller from SA came to notice because of IPL.

Narine is not 1/100th of what he was before he was called out for chucking. Agree with everything else

Yeah.

Narine used to have the ability to get the main opposition wickets even when they tried to play him off.

Like Rohit Sharma would be on strike. Just 2 balls of Narine is left and everyone else were getting slaughtered by him.

Just 2 balls to go.

Narine bowls a delivery and Rohit DEFENDS it and yet the ball pops up and he gets out.

Seen this happening with Rohit (twice), some other important batsmen a few times.

He was a hoot in IPL.

Though now....he won't be anything special.

So if that's considered, I would throw him out and bring in an Indian spinner (like Ashwin to partner up with Bhajji) and get ABD on.

The only one which was tough, deciding between shakib or hafeez.

My IPL GOAT XI

Rohit Sharma
Gambir
Suresh Raina
AB Devilliers
Hafeez
MS Dhoni (C)
Shahid Afridi
Bhaji
Anil Kumble
Zaheer Khan
Shoaib Akhtar (VC)

12th Man, Ishant Sharma.

I know Pak players haven't been involved so much throughout the seasons but it's a bit of a dream team, Shoaib did well in one or two games which he played for KKR. Shahid was great with the ball and x-factor with the bat. Hafeez is a great A/R, world class in T20's imo so picked him.

Looks very spin heavy. Need another pacer instead of a spinner. Believe it or not, Tanvir had a great IPL. I would prefer Tanvir over Anil Kumble

Am only allowed 4 Foreigners, IPL rules :)) Yeah! forgot about him, he had a great IPL didn't he think he was leading wicket taker. At best I'd consider swapping Akhtar for Gul, but he's my favourite player so I can't. Gul probably would be the better option given his death bowling (at his peak) or Malinga. Anyhow Shoaib has the potential to reck line ups at the top.

And Spin heavy because it's in the subcontinent but those guys are match winning bowlers, Kumble, Shahid and Hafeez on any surface. I guess to a lessar extent Afridi, but at his peak form he was very good.

The guy won the purple cap in his first and only season in the IPL, not just any cap, the purple freaking cap!

I was trying to get your attention with that post

Gayle will always walk into any IPL XI that is created anyday. He is an IPL GOAT.

Warner was not in IPL XI created in 2015 but is statistically up there as he has pipped up McCullum comfortably. Maxwell lol one good tournament but no consistency. Not surprised to see Windies dominating the list rather than Indians.

Gayle is an all time great for t20, he is the most legendary t20 batsman

Gayle
Rohit Sharma
Virat Kohli
Suresh Raina
Ab de villiers(wk)
Pollard
Bravo
Sunil Narine
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Zaheer Khan
Bumrah

Didnt want to put Dhoni
