What's new

Hardik Pandya has the potential to be the best all-rounder in the world

Every time i see him i think of agressive Dinda who can bat.

:))) Love this thread.

Imad Wasim had the same hype, comparisons, and love after his first few impact games.....and now everyone hates him.

He's got the attitude but sadly not the skills.

Keeps slogging. When it connects, the shots can sometimes look wow.

Best stick to IPL.

A very very poor version of Yusuf Pathan, who himself couldn't last too long on the international circuit.

I don't even know who Iman Wasim was or is. Pandya is a star already.

They say your name reflects your personality, if that is true then Pandya has bit of a problem on his hands :ibutt

Pakistani fans smiling now, you wont have much to smile coz i predict in at least one of the matches here or at WT20 Hardy's gonna hit you hard and bad.

Impressed.

Runs in hard.

Has pace.

Generates bounce that really made some Pak batters uncomfortable.

Pandya gets another.

Great outing for him. ONCE AGAIN, THE EXTRA BOUNCE DOES THE TRICK.

First time I'm seeing him.Looked pretty solid honestly even though performances against a Pakistan batting lineup should be taken with a pinch of salt.

What a spell from Hardik Pandya against Pakistan

While everyone is busy discussing Amir's spell, no one noticed that Hardik Pandya overpowered Amir statistically with impressive figures of 3.3-0-8-3. His spell came in the winning cause as well. Take a bow.

Wasn't anything special, bowled accurately and was economical but the batsmen gifted their wickets.

I am not sure bowling to a laughable batting attack of Manzoor, Malik, Afridi, Sharjeel, Hafeez is better than bowling to Kolhi, Rahane, Sharma, Raina. Amir took the latter out, minus Kohli.

He's a good talent, but had you people had Amir he'd cleaned up our batting inside four overs.

Not taking anything away from him but he took the wickets of tailenders and Malik who happened to play an atrocious shot. Good bowling but not the second coming of Kallis/Flintoff like Indians would like to believe

Comparing his spell with Amir's is a joke. But India seems to have found a gem here. A true allrounder is some one who can contribute with bat or ball or both. Against BD he batted very well and today, he bowled very well.

Well, you have to make a case for the kind of pedestrian batting he was bowling at... Amir was bowling to some great batsmen. Having said that, good stuff from Pandya. What an amazing option to have a 3rd seam bowling option, who is actually a batsman..

Bumrah impressed me more tbh, he's got a very unusual action as well. Good talent.

It's no secret that Indians raise their bowling when they take on Pakistan. Also quite indicative of Pakistan's atrocious batting line-up.

Of course he is. Bumrah is actually a better bowler at death and Dhoni didn't show Pakistan that side of him..

Malik's wicket was the only one where the credit for the dismissal goes to the batsman\
Sami's wicket was well thought out. Just before he bowled a short one, Raina was moved to square leg. The short ball was outside off and was perfectly planned and executed.
AMir's dismissal was actually unplayable. It was an inswinger to the lefty and I thought he couldnt swing the ball. The impact of these dismissals shouldnt be discounted either. Another 20 runs by Malik or Sami and the result could have been different

One picked off top order batsmen who have some outstanding credentials in limited overs

The other took wickets of a bits and piece and tailenders.

Now of course, if Malik, Sami and Amir are better batsmen than Sharma, Rahane and Raina, then yes Hardik was better.

Esp since getting Malik in the form he is these days is greater than getting out Sharma, Rahane and Raina.

Picking up the wickets of Malik, Sami and Amir vs picking up the wickets of Sharma, Rahane and Raina.

I wonder what would have happened if Amir was playing for India and Pandya was bowling for Pakistan.

Or switch altogether, what if Pakistani batting had to face Pakistani bowling and Indian batting had to face Indian batting in today's match . I guess record for low score and high score would have been broken

Pandya took wicket of Amir hence he is better then him. ha ha.... pandya got you.

That's an established fact. I fear more for Pakistani batting in this case. Would they cross 30 runs facing Amir, Irfan, Sami and Riaz on this pitch?

I am not even comparing the bowling of Hardik and Amir. I was just responding to other post that Hardik's contribution was vital for Indiaa and they were not exactly dumb wickets.

Please this guy is not good enough to tie Amir's shoe laces, rubbish bowler, he will be hit for six sixes, his name will be forgotten within two three days, that's why didn't bother googling his name.

I don't but I have seen some resemblance in both amir and pandya their faces looks quite similar to me.pandya is a good option for captain he can bat and can bowl some good overs

The only great batsman Amir took was Rohit .Rahane hasn't cut it at T20 internationals and Raina is a walking wicket in these conditions

Amir's bowling wasn't any better than Rajitha's debut spell against us on that Pune wicket .
It's just that Pakistan bowler so that the hype for that spell is getting ridiculous levels similar to the Wahab spell against Watson

Finally someone said it :amir

Yeah, he indeed got some good stats there.
Must have been quite a delight bagging the wickets to wrap the inns up.

Good to have an option who can roll his arm over while not being a mug with the bat. Should be developed further, and we may have a good option to balance things out during tricky selection time.

A) You can bowl to only the sort of opposition you get.

B) Assumptions.
Ofc aamir is good, but nothing is a guarantee.

I think there was a difference between Rajitha's spell reason being we were just back from flat tracks of Aus and were expecting the ball at certain height at the bat due to which most of them were not able to score.

Over here we had already played against Bang and we knew what to expect inspite of that we struggled against Amir's 4 overs and taking 3 wickets of which 2 are very good LOI players is big and Rahane is a decent player of swing considering total was low.

On that pitch everyone looked like right handed Wasim.

On a similar pitch in 2013, Junaid looked like Wasim's dad.

Let him bowl on a few roads and we will decide.

Exactly

Amir bowled brilliantly. But almost all bowlers bowled very well. Its the conditions.

Bumrah also looked lethal. Bhuvi would have been amazing had he played.

The OP would not be bashed if he had not mentioned Aamir in any part of his post.
Humiliated fans needs some figment of respectability to sleep at night. That is, Aamir was the best bowler in display yesterday.

A very good prospect for us. Hope he develops into a complete pace bowling (in excess of 135 kph on a consistent basis) all-rounder that we are lacking in any forms of the game.

Soon he should become a permanent fixture in our 50 overs line up as well.

No.4 batsman Malik is a tailender? In case you are implying all the bats of Pakistan are tailender i don't get the logic.

Malik's status changes on PP based on the thread.
If you ask Pakistani fans if Malik is any good, their response is usually that he rotates the strike well, he is backbone of the team and a senior who can bowl well.
The same posters call him a tailender, minnow basher, FTB if you try to glorify an Indian bowler for taking his wicket. There is a mega thread on Malik in PP and the same posters offer contradictory comments.

Similarly, Raina is a dud, can't play pace or bounce according to majority of posters. All of a sudden he becomes a gun batsman and an LOI great after Amir takes his wicket. You get to drift

Did he not take out two tailenders? Malik has been in horrible form and couldn't buy a run in the PSL. Getting him out wasn't difficult at all.

I hope you get the logic now.

A star.

Pandya was one of the best players yesterday. Didnt click with the bat on a tough pitch but impressed a lot with his bowling.

Welldone.

Chhha gye.

A- Obviously, however there is a world of difference bowling to hacks who have done nothing in their career to bowling to a world-class batting unit.

B- Haha assumptions? A bowler like Amir would annihilate our batting line-up, anything with an ounce of common sense can see that.

I was shocked to see him clocking 140 ks. He has managed to increase his speed by 20 ks.

A great find for India!

Dhoni was a hitter when he began and became a world class finisher later on. Hardik should be groomed for that role.

With his class and allround performance, I think he can be the Indian Shoaib Malik

Shobby is more a classy player.

Hardy likes play hard though totally different players but I get ya they can play the AR role beautifully.

A few chinks coming out, but with good guidance will sort them out :)

Having technical issues is not an issue. Can easily sort it out and improve .Plenty of Indian Batsmen have improved technical issues bh working on it with our coaches .Kohli prime example

But the amazing part is his bowling ability.Took both Mathews and Dilshan who are their best bats

Kinda reminds me of Watson with the ball .Innocuous but always picks up wickets

It's not wise to wear earrings while you're batting, think that weighed him down today. The helmet gets disbalanced by the nugget in his ear, so that may have made him lose balance.

Otherwise he would've played a Moeen bhai like role and finished the game with a six here and there. He's a hard (ik) hitter for sure.

yes that was a good knock but the way he has got out in the rest shows he has a lot to improve as a batsman.

He has been assigned the Afridi's orginal role, for which he has so far performed adequately for India.
India needed a pacer who can tonk the ball hard and not a tailender. Now Ashwin, who actually has a couple of test hundreds comes at number 9.

It almost feels as India are playing with 10 players.
Hé can't really bowl, can't bat At all.

Don't like this guy, wears ear rings, has a zoo lander latigra look, bet he wears make up too. He will be forgotten, he think by keeping facial hair you can become Kohli, please this kid will be lucky to play 20 matches.

He is very young too so please bear with him. Needs to bulk up a little to get more power behind the shots.

Needs to up his game if he wants to stay in the team also his attitude off-field is annoying ,seems very cocky not sure why.

He thinks he can be the modern Jadeja, but in reality, he will/should have a career like Joginder Sharma.
