I checked his stats and was shocked to see him averaging 50 already with the bat. Looks well on his way to become England greatest ODIs batsmen.

How long will it take to join the top tier league for him in ODIs?

Brilliant LO player. Capable of accelerating and also playing the anchor role. His conversion rate in ODIs is better than tests I think. I think this is because he is free flowing player and the fields aren't as attacking in LO as they are in tests.

Brilliant LO batsmen. Needs to perform in icc tournaments to be up there with best LO batsmen of all time.

For someone of his immense talent, honestly I think he should have a better record.
His conversion rate in Tests is criminal for a player of his quality.
The stats are more representative of his ability in the One-Day format. He really is an excellent player, and is at a good age; he will only continue to improve.

I can't really remember any match-defining knocks at the top of my head, feel he's a bit overshadowed by the likes of Hales, Buttler, Stokes and as of late Bairstow.

Basically this.

He doesn't possess anything special in his batting to break it into really ATG LOI player.

For example, AB's hitting ability is unmatchable by any batsmen in the world while Kohl's run chasing ability is far ahead of others.

Root doesn't have anything special or unique in his batting. However, he is the most consistent scorer in his team unlike others who are definitely bigger game changers.

Babar only has 3 less hundreds than him and Root has played 97 ODIs

Root is a more aggressive batsmen than Babar and Babar's bigger test will be when he faces top non Asian teams at home unlike facing WI or SL.

Babar is better.
No.

You forgot to look at the fact that Root doesn't get to bash his own countries bowlers and faces Pakistans attack, while Babar doesn't get to play vs Pakistani bowles.

Have to take every little thing into consideration when comparing players, even those ifs and buts

Ok sir

:salute

Root is a fantastic player and has been good in all three formats.

Good player but as is the case with all good english players the hype is a bit over the top. as a ODI player he hasnt performed when the crunch has arrived e.g. that semi against us.
