This is the stupid game these play here. They will give you all sorts of nonsensical reasons to claim YK was a crap ODI player and one of the worst to play this many games etc…


Well then it means Stephen Fleming (a genuine NZ GOAT) who played in the same era as YK and has a +1 run average to him, with about the same amount of games and 1 more hundred to him is also one of the worst players to have played ODI cricket?

You negated yourself , Fleming NZ Goat , yes you are right theres difference between a World class player and a local hero.

Fleming in comparison with his NZ peers can be considered as GOAT, but when we compare it across the world like Hayden Jayasiruya etc etc , Fleming lags back.

YK as ODI batsmen even lags behind Malik the allrounder, there very much settles it

Comparing with Hayden with Fleming? Fine, everyone knows Hayden is one of the greatest openers of all time and anyone excluding the absolute top tiers would struggle to compare vs him Fleming included.

That does not mean Fleming is a bad player however. Hes world class but Hayden is next level I agree.

But then you mentioned Malik and Younis Khan . Wt f?

YK lags behind Malik the Allrounder? Hahahahahaahahahhahhaahahaha. No comment. Malik is genuinely the epitome of mediocrity as a cricketer however because the current crop led by Rizwan is so crap Malik looks world class kn comparison.

Malik is medicore but he's far > Shadab, Nawaz and many others.

Pakistan always struggled with their top order & Younis was never a good fit for the no.3 position where he played most his games, he couldn’t really play himself in like he did in Tests and a more permanent stay at no.5/6 would have better suited him to take full advantage of the field restrictions, rotate strike, sustain partnership’s and bully spin. Weirdly, he did that quiet well for Pakistan in the World T20 and it was a good template for how he should have been utilised. Having said that, while his ODI career was unfulfilled, it wasn’t terrible remotely, he played so many iconic knocks and was up against some of the greatest bowlers ever in testing batting conditions in those days when bilateral’s mattered, across all formats in the 21st century there has not been a more impactful player for Pakistan than Younis when it came to all our overseas wins, you can go back to 2002 series in Australia and Younis was MOTM in one of the games I think when Akhtar took most of the credit for that series. He’s a personified legend, and he would feast on the pitches and bowling attacks we see now.

As a player YK in tests is an ATG.

In ODIs in his first few years he was international standard and solid. Would walk into current lineup with ease and give Babar a run for his money. But eventually he started fading fast in this format and by 2011-12 he was finished as a LOI player but unfortunately blackmailed his way to a spot for the 2015 WC.

A test legend who stayed consistent into his late 30s and an icon of the fortress of the UAE.

Could’ve helped Kohli get back into form with some wise words and a pat on the back but he’s a quitter.

He was a pretty useful batter in ODI cricket but his best record in in test cricket which was probably the most suited format for him.

I tried hard to see who is worse than Younis Khan in OD , but was unable , unless you bring in really some unknown batters who played very very few matches.
