I´m strictly referring to the world cups that you´ve yourself watched, so the 1992 edition would only stand for those who watched it live (highlights won´t count here).

I was hardly six years old when the 1996 edition took place. I don´t remember anything except Ranatunga hitting the winning run and then pictures of the Australian players in tears published by the Pakistan newspapers the next day. I´ve stronger memories of the 1999 edition but my understanding of the game hadn´t developed much. All I remember is that 87-run innings by Inzamam, Wasim Akram castling Gilchrist, Klusener´s superman-like batting, the mix-up in that famous semi-final and then Pakistan´s collapse and the defeat in the final - which made my cry as Lehmann hit the winning runs.

The 2007 edition was all about Tendulkar´s sublime, absolutely sublime batting, especially the 98 against Pakistan. Ponting´s merciless hitting in the final will too stay with my for the rest of my life.

2007 edition: sorry, my memory card got lost, or maybe I threw it away on purpose!

The 2015 edition had absolutely nothing of note except a nail-biting semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa (one of the greatest ODI games of all times), Starc´s bowling against New Zealand, Bangladesh´s win over England and then, and then that unbelievable spell of furious fast bowling by Wahab Riaz - I can recall everything from that as if my mind recorded everything!

The 2011 edition.... It had so many close games and nail-biters. So many memories from it, but Dhoni sealing the tournament with an almighty heave into the wide long-on to mid-wicket area is a summary of just how memorable it is for me. Regardless of how great this tournament goes, nothing, nothing can beat "that" moment for me from 2nd April that year. I know I´m being biased here, but so be it.

And then we come to the ongoing tournament. I rate it already the second greatest and most exciting World Cup of all times for me. One surprising result after another, and it has been full of thrilling matches. A long way to go but this tournament has already won my heart and made me fall in love with cricket again. I think it´s solely down to the format of it. We often ask for their head and criticise it a lot - a lot of it is warranted and on merit - but we must give credit to the ICC here. Well done for finally getting the tournament´s format right!

Yesterday's matches lit up this tournament. It's been a good word cup actually.

It is not the best but also not the worst. I give it 6 out of 10.

1999 World Cup was better.
