Huge brawl breaks out in UK street as mob throw punches after India vs Pakistan cricket match

Who and what hindus align with will be their considered decision, and will be based on how and who it benefits them in the current circumstances.

Oh and don't worry about their trouble.

Its not shocking that so many of the posters on this thread are threatening hindus of "trouble".

More reason for hindus to politically realign themselves.

They can align themselves with Ku Klux Klan as far as I'm concerned, I'm just telling you it won't end well for them if they do. The white supremacists like Tommy R are only using the Hindutva hatred for their own purposes, they will go after Hindus after that. You won't be aware of how it works as you are thinking like an India based Hindu, the ones who live here will know what I mean.

But in any case the Muslim community is too strong in the UK, even the neo nazis won't be able to make a dent here. No amount of imported Hindutvas will succeed by resorting to violence.

Birds of a feather...

If RSS can align themselves with Hitler then getting into bed with Tommy is nothing

Yes aligning with nazis might make sense in India, just pointing out that it won't do them much good in Britain. Already Leicester's businesses on the main street have lost business due to customers staying away.

I agree.
So let them do it... they'll see the results of their folly

You can keep threatening. It scares no one. Its amusing how posters like you think that they will scare hindus. :))

Muslims are a 4 per cent minority in uk.Those belonging to pakistan Bangladesh etc are at the bottom of the economic pyramid. Then you threaten others. :))

Yes yes hindus have become poor due to pakistanis staying away. :))

And you guys also seem to know how and who hindus will align with.

:)))

This thread is hilarious. Threats at hindus. Then stories of economic boycott. Then guessing how hindus will align politically.

Indians have mostly been conservatives so what realigning??

Indians are the most educated and highest earning demographics in the USA. They over represent in most fields.

He is insinuating that Indians can influence oppression of western Muslims. They are not at that level yet.

You seem far too sensitive to Indian concerns "Salim" bhai, this is the UK not America. Their education won't help them on the streets.

Salimbhai from Lahore , its about extremist Hindus , anywhere outside of India they are not seen as a threat, nobody is intimated by them and nobody will think twice to crush them if they spread their hate extremist rhetoric or worse wield their lentil made sticks threatening people.

Joining up with the likes of Britain first is a fast track ticket to a beating here in the UK, nothing else will come of it.

I think I am indifferent to Pakistanis or Indians in UK. I could care less. I am just replying to the comments being made.

I don’t think I made a comment them joining British first . I think it’s a mistake to join and the British first will jump on them once/if they are done with the common threat.

Oct 4 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Rumour had it that a Muslim girl had been kidnapped and a Hindu temple had sent masked thugs into combat. Add in local fury over an India-Pakistan cricket match, and Hindu and Muslim men were soon fighting on the streets of central England.

It was a social media storm - mostly cooked up a continent away - that materialised in real life in Leicester, where police made almost 50 arrests and a community was left in tatters.

“It is a powerful illustration of how hashtag dynamics on Twitter can use dubious inflammatory claims to ... escalate tensions on the ground,” said a spokesperson at fact-checking site Logically, which analysed the posts’ veracity.

Experts say most of the incendiary tweets, rumours and lies came from India, showing the power of unchecked social media to spread disinformation and stir unrest a full continent away.

“I’ve seen quite a selection of the social media stuff which is very, very, very distorting now and some of it just completely lying about what had been happening between different communities,” Peter Soulsby, Leicester’s mayor, told BBC radio.

Rob Nixon, who runs Leicestershire Police, concurred, telling the BBC that misinformation on social media had played a “huge role” in last month’s unrest.

To counter some of these claims, police took to social media themselves, saying they had fully investigated reports of three men approaching a teenaged girl in an attempted kidnap, and found no truth whatsoever to the online story.

“We urge you to only share information on social media you know to be true,” they said.

Fact-checkers also found no truth to claims that gangs of masked thugs were bussed into Leicester.

Many of the misleading posts alleging that Hindus and Hindu sites were being attacked came from India, analysis showed.

Some 80% of tweets with geographic coordinates, or geo-tagged information, were connected to India, Logically said.

“The ratio of tweets geo-tagged to the UK versus those geo-tagged to India was remarkably high for what, ostensibly, was a domestic incident,” a spokesperson told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

“The involvement of high-profile figures in India setting the discourse was a key element.”

BBC Monitoring said that more than half of the 200,000 tweets it investigated came from accounts geo-tagged to India, with hashtags such as #Leicester, #HindusUnderAttack and #HindusUnderattackinUK.

Twitter did not respond to a request for comment.

‘HORRIFIC’ HASHTAGS

The fact-checks confirmed what several Leicester residents had suspected for years: online disinformation and abuse aimed at religious minorities came increasingly from users in India, and platforms were doing little or nothing to check it.

“The events in Leicester did not happen out of the blue,” said Keval Bharadia at the South Asia Solidarity Group, a British community non-profit.

“Friends and family have been sending fake news and misinformation for years. It is a never-ending stream of propaganda from troll armies,” he said.

A spokesman for India’s ministry of home affairs did not respond to a request for comment.

The Indian High Commission in London, in a statement, said it “strongly” condemned the violence against the Indian community in Leicester, and the vandalism of “premises and symbols of Hindu religion.”

Some commentators and rights groups say India’s ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party has a hand in the social-media warfare that targets religious and ethnic minorities.

The BJP swept into power in India in 2014 and won by an even bigger margin in 2019, its victories in part credited to its savvy tech cell and social-media prowess, fuelled by thousands of supporters it calls digital “yodhas” or warriors.

BJP’s tech cell, as well as government appointed cyber volunteers, often abuse religious minorities and spread disinformation about them on social media, rights groups say.

In a recent report, Dalit rights group Equality Labs said “nationalistic, Islamophobic, and casteist disinformation” was spreading among expatriate Indians via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and thousands of Whatsapp and Telegram chat groups.

“Hindu nationalism is one of the largest disinformation networks in the global South Asian diaspora, with bigoted and often terrifying attacks against caste and religious minorities,” said Thenmozhi Soundararajan of Equality Labs.

“Just think about the horrific hashtags that are now normal,” said Soundararajan, citing “presstitute” - a derogatory term for journalists - and “lovejihad”, an Islamophobic conspiracy theory popular in India.

“Narratives spread on WhatsApp have led to offline violence,” she added.

While expatriates have long absorbed content from India, and commented on events, disinformation has mushroomed with the rise of social media platforms, said Pratik Sinha, co-founder of Indian fact checking site AltNews.

“We are so polarised now, and this is particularly true of non-resident Indians who can’t check the reality on the ground,” he said.

“A lot of hate speech and misinformation, particularly in regional languages, goes unchecked on social media platforms.”

Much of the noise emanates from Meta, formerly Facebook, which in 2019 commissioned an independent assessment of its role in spreading hate speech and incitement to violence on its platforms in India, following criticism by civil society groups.

But Meta has since said it would not release the full report, only saying that it had “significantly increased” its content moderation workforce and language support for India.

Twitter - which has about 24 million users in India - has asked an Indian court to overturn some government orders to remove posts which Delhi said spread misinformation.

Last month, in a rare rebuke, India’s Supreme Court said television was the “chief medium of hate speech” and asked why the government was “standing by as a mute witness”.

The government has not responded to the charge.

Meanwhile, hate speech and disinformation on social media platforms goes largely unchecked in one of their largest markets, said Sinha.

“Misinformation leads to radicalisation, no matter where you are,” he said. “We are already seeing the consequences on the ground.”

The moment muslims try to intimidate non muslims in the west thinking that its pakistan, they are punished by law.

Reports say, 18 per cent of the prison population in UK is muslim, while the population is only 4 per cent. So while you can thump your chests on a muslim dominated forum, in real life, when law comes after them, you cry racism, Islamophobia etc etc etc.

The law wont save your Hindu extremists mates here in the UK. The law will be no good to them when they are in hospital spitting blood. This isnt India and dont rely on police to further Hindu extremist Hindu hate here.

Violence is never great but self defence is a right and will be used here by Muslims against extremist Hindus.

Most Hindus in the UK get on well with Muslims, they are not idiots who are stuck on history of Muslim rule in India and are not devotees of a tea seller.

Temporary Chief Constable Rob Nixon attended Edinburgh with some respected community members yesterday (Monday) at the request of The King, so that they could discuss the recent events in East Leicester

The King and the Queen Consort were meeting around 300 members of the British South Asian community at a reception in Edinburgh on Monday to recognise the contributions they have made to the country. In addition, an invite was sent through to Leicestershire Police to attend so that His Majesty could discuss the recent disorder in East Leicester.

On entering the main reception, His Majesty The King spoke with the Chief Constable and the group which included the East Leicester Neighbourhood Policing Commander Inspector Yakub Ismail plus representatives from The Federation of Muslims, the Hindu community, the Daman community and also a young person representing the Dui community in Leicester.

T/CC Nixon said: "It was a real privilege to meet His Majesty The King on his first public engagement since the Queen’s death and I thought it was significant that he wanted to understand what had been happening in Leicester.

"He was obviously appreciative of what our role has been in terms of policing, and he was very, very interested in hearing the community voice and how the wider communities and so many key people within them are pulling together to bring back harmony along with also understanding the role of social media and misinformation and how that can cause increased tension.

"I am hopeful that he might consider coming to visit Leicester in the not too distant future but we shall have to see."

The King met with guests for just over an hour, of British Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Bhutanese and Maldivian heritage from across the UK.

Leicestershire Police have arrested four men in connection with India v Pakistan cricket violence in Leicester.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Friday (9) on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident. He currently remains in custody, a statement said.

On Thursday (8), three men – aged 25, 29 and 30 – were arrested by the police. They have since been released on bail pending investigations. Police have not released identities of these men.

“These arrests followed an arrest on Thursday morning, when a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. He has also been released on police bail pending further enquiries,” Police said.

“A 28-year-old man was arrested on 28 August on suspicion of assault and assaulting an emergency worker in connection with the incident. He has since been released under investigation.”

Now, police appeal to speak to a fifth man in relation to the incident.

Detectives are investigating disorder which followed a cricket match between India and Pakistan in the area of Melton Road and Shaftesbury Avenue, in Belgrave, Leicester, on August 28.

Police were called to the area following a report of crowds in the locality who were celebrating after the conclusion of the India-Pakistan cricket match.

According to reports, racist chanting, was heard, while a police officer was assaulted during the violence which followed.

Police have promised a strong presence on the streets of east Leicester this weekend to prevent any disorder which might arise from an international cricket match between India and Pakistan. Officers will also be out in numbers to ensure the city's ongoing Diwali celebrations run smoothly.

The police operation is taking place as the city continues to come to terms with a turbulent few days in September during which tensions between small sections of the Hindu and Muslim communities in the east of the city resulted in outbreaks of disorder in a number of neighbourhoods. More than 60 people have been arrested so far and detectives are continuing their inquiries.

However, the past few weeks have seen calm restored and both the festival of Navratri and the Diwali lights switch-on, in Belgrave's Golden Mile, both passed without incident. Now, Leicestershire Police says it is preparing for a potentially busy weekend during which India and Pakistan will face each other in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Melbourne, Australia.

Such matches have historically sparked celebrations in the streets, often leading to road closures. However, when the sides met in September the celebrations turned ugly and there were scenes of violence in the Belgrave Road area.

Temporary Chief Constable Rob Nixon said: “I’d like to take this time to ask everyone to enjoy the Diwali celebrations – as they normally would. It’s a very special time for so many people in the communities of Leicester, and a very special time for the city and those celebrations should go ahead.

“There will be a high-visibility police presence in the area throughout Monday to ensure this is the case. Anyone thinking of causing trouble – please, don’t. We will be there to stop disorder breaking out.

“This is also the case on Sunday, following the cricket match. We recognise that there might be tensions around this result and will be on the streets, patrolling and offering reassurance to the community.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to ask – again – to not share unverified and unchecked information on social media. Misinformation has proven very destructive throughout.”

Meanwhile, detectives are continuing their efforts to bring to justice those who were involved in several incidents of disorder in a number of locations. Mr Nixon said: "Meticulous efforts to investigate the disorder are progressing, but not without challenges.

"The effort and care going in this work, as you would expect, is relentless. The team of detectives working on the reports of crimes are doing so around the clock, with more charges expected.”

The force gave an update on the ongoing investigation. It said five more people have been arrested recently, with one charged. This takes the total number of arrests to 66. They are:

All three have been released on police bail.

A 26-year-old man, from Leicester, was arrested on Wednesday, October 19 on suspicion of causing violent disorder on Wednesday, September 4. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A 17-year-old from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and was subsequently charged with the offence. In relates to an offence on Friday, September 6 this year. He cannot be named for legal reasons.

Saffron gangs better be kept away from the streets as they will go crazy with their islamophobia regardless if they win or lose against Pakistan. Expect them to look for opputunity again to spread their sickness and attack first so they can play the victim's card.

Let's see how things develop. No major incidents yet but it could all change. Luckily Muslims on Leicester are peaceful and won't be starting anything. That will come from modis dogs.

British posters that live there, could you tell who started these brawls?

Was it Indians or were Pakistanis indeed involved?

I saw a babar azams brother vlog who was in England and wonder if he was involved aswell

Hindu leaders say they will boycott city mayor's inquiry into east Leicester disorder

Sir Peter Soulsby is facing criticism over his appointment of an academic to lead an independent inquiry into the disorder in east Leicester. Representatives of 15 Hindu organisations in the city say they will boycott the review because of Sir Peter's choice for the role.

The city mayor announced on Wednesday, October 26 that Dr Chris Allen, an associate professor of hate studies at the University of Leicester, would lead the review into the incidents in September. However, leaders of a number of Hindu organisations have since declared their dissatisfaction with Sir Peter's choice of Dr Allen.

They claimed the academic had recently posted on Twitter that he had "ruled out Islamist extremism" as a factor in the disorder. They added: "Though we don't cast any judgement as to the presence of any extreme Islamist influence in the unrest, to assert a conclusion ahead of the review sheds [light on] Allen's inability to remain independent". The statement was not accompanied by specific evidence.

Sir Peter is also being asked to retract comments made to Channel 4 News earlier this year that he believed political ideologies, including Hindutva - a form of Hindu nationalism which is not the same as Hinduism - played a part in the unrest. Leaders of Hindu organisations say the mayor's comments leave them with "little confidence" in the current review process - but they say they would work with a 'truly independent review delivered with the highest level of transparency and integrity'.

The statement added that the signatories believed the appointment of Dr Allen was "biased against the Hindu community." They also accused Sir Peter of "breaking his promise" to community leaders that the details of the inquiry would be announced after the festive period - Diwali was celebrated on Monday, October 24 followed by the Hindu New Year on Wednesday, October 26, the same day as the announcement.

The statement followed one made by Councillor Deepak Bajaj, who recently defected from Labour to the Conservative Party, also making accusations of bias. Coun Bajaj said: "The City Mayor has appointed a single individual to run the review who has previously published open opinions siding with one community over another.

"This review should be paused until a tested review panel is appointed." He went on to say the suggested panel should be selected with the assistance of Leicestershire's Police and Crime Commissioner and the Government before being voted on by city councillors. The Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO) has also weighed in on the matter saying: "[We are] committed to building good relations with all our communities and believe that any review must have the confidence of all sides."

As reported by LeicestershireLive, the review will be carried out by a number of researchers working with Dr Allen and will seek responses from hundreds of people, from across various communities, including elected officials and public bodies such as the police and the city council. That means the report, which is due to be published in March 2023, may well put Sir Peter and the council in the line of fire.

The city mayor said: "Dr Allen has a very strong reputation as someone who is guided only by the evidence and is independent in his judgement. He was recommended by a wide range of people including a number of Hindus, because of his previous work.

"I'm just disappointed that some people want to attack his report before he's had a chance to do his work." Regarding the date of the announcement, he added: "We deliberately waited until after Diwali - we pushed it back a few days specifically for that reason."

Dr Allen, whose career spans two decades, explained in a briefing on Wednesday that an advisory panel was also being appointed as part of the review. The academic's work has included extensive research into religiously-motivated hate crimes, such as - but not limited to - Islamaphobia, which is where he believes a "misunderstanding" of his background has arisen.

In a full statement, in response to the criticism of his appointment, Dr Allen said: "Since being appointed as lead to the review into the recent disturbances in Leicester, questions have arisen as regards my independence and impartiality. This is surprising, given that it is the same rigour, objectivity and reputation for independent research that saw me commissioned by the EU, UK national government and various local authorities that led to my appointment to this role.

"The misunderstanding would seem to centre on the fact that some of my research has focused on Muslim communities. That said, so too has my research centred on all forms of religiously motivated hate, the role of religion in the public and political spaces, and the threat posed by Islamist-inspired and far-right extremist ideologies.

"In terms of the review, we welcome the opportunity to meet with all Leicester's religious and community leaders. For all, we will take the time to not only explain the review in more detail but also to allay any concerns they might have in terms of their participation.

"Given the concerns expressed by the city's Hindu temple and community centre leaders, we would like to expedite this opportunity to ensure they - and the city's Hindus more widely - feel confident in being able to support and contribute to the review process. I look forward to taking the time to introduce myself and the review team to them in the next few days."

A city council spokesperson said: "We have every confidence in the independence, impartiality and expertise of the University of Leicester and Dr Chris Allen and his team, and we look forward to receiving the report when it is complete."

Good move by Soulsby. Regarding boycott, in fact they should boycott the whole of England.

British posters that live there, could you tell who started these brawls?

Was it Indians or were Pakistanis indeed involved?

I saw a babar azams brother vlog who was in England and wonder if he was involved aswell

Dunno about Babar's brother. I live here. I know the city and these areas very well. I've played on these streets as a child. Hung out with hindus Sikhs Muslims etc. Leicester has been peaceful for a long time. When race riots were kicking off elsewhere it was peaceful here. Yes the communities fought the racist skin heads in the 80's. But everyone just got along. Manly coz the majority community was Indian. Sikh Hindu Muslim. All Indians majority of east African background.

But now things are changing. Leicester is known for its textile factories. Many now employ new immigrants from Modis India. I remember when we lost the 2004 series vs India there were massive celebrations. But nobody screamed jai shree raam and death to Pakistan. It was more jai hind and lots of drinking lol.

But this time was different. The tension had been building for quite a while as people see vids of Muslims slaughtered. Mosques demolished. And suddenly we see gangs trying to take over turfs in Hindu dominated areas. Muslims beaten up including a traffic and a young lad.

Finally in August it kicked off. Social media went viral and we had massive numbers of young Hindu lads terrorising our streets. I've never seen it like this. So word got out and Muslims rallied to protect their neighbourhoods and masajid. Because they tried to attack them. And yes some lads from Birmingham came over but if you look at the arrests most are from their side. There are vids online of liquor bottles being thrown at police..clearly not something drunk in Muslim Leicester areas.

Also we have had complaints of late night drinking and antisocial behaviour by these new arrivals near mosques and largely Muslim dominated areas.

We all.know who started it. Why do you think this enquiry either will be stalled or won't happen. The Hindu community has nor condemned this out right. We have had some broken condemnation from some mandirs but no collective statement.

If it was the other way around you know what they would demand. And now they want to scupper the enquiry because it will speak to eye witness accounts and there is video evidence. Muslims filmed loads. We have activists on the ground who didn't get involved but observed and recorded events.

Chris Allen is no big friend of Muslims. Just read up about him. Theynwonr be satisfied until they get a right wing islamaphobe to run the enquiry who will either blame islamists or do a watered down both sides enquiry. Hence why this enquiry won't happen. Inmho.

Just my two cents. I no longer live in these areas but I frequent there everyday and things are quiet and peaceful. Most everyone just getting on with things. But tensions are under the surface. You can feel it.

Muslims in England attacked and burnt hindu temples in 1992. Why?

Secondly, what happens in India has nothing to do with UK. The fact that you are trying to justify acts of violence in UK against Hindus because of something happening in India goes against every law in the book.

What is this muslim dominated areas? Is there a separate demarcated area for muslims with different laws?

Why will Hindus support a inquiry that is not impartial and has been appointed due to the political compulsions of the labour party?

Which masjid was attacked? There is confirmation that muslims attacked a hindu temple in Birmingham.

The more these attacks on non muslims happen, more the non muslims are going to rally together against. The more different races get together against this, lesser the chances that the usual racism card will be played.

British Pakistanis have been damaging properties of Nawaz Sharif and abusing his people etc because they don’t agree with him in London of all places. Now look I am not supporting Sharif, I am sure he is a typical shady politician but there is something called a decorum.

How many Indians you see for example attacking Vijay Mallya or other fugitives living in England.

Do the math and use logic and you will know where the trouble starts or who can be provoked easily into a frenzy.

Over many years I have seen some posters here still carrying same enmity due to back home issues and history
I am living in Richmond and i do my shopping regularly in big shop owned by Muslim family for more than 35 years and hopefully will continue to do so

Great post.

Many of us grew up in the types of area you describe here and we can't let these communities succumb to extremist ideologies from both sides.

These are two ill-informed views coming direct from hindutva posters based in India. When someone who is based in the area is giving you direct information on the streets, preaching anti-Muslim diatribes from abroad just looks ignorant. Indians and Pakistanis have lived together in relative peace for decades in Britain. Hopefully Leicester has calmed down now as I am sure Indian businessmen won't want their trade affected as it must have been during the few days of unrest.

It's quiet..peaceful no hulla Gulla. These agitators from abroad are desperate to ignite religious riots here luckily the majority understand this..

If it helps with your validation, I am an Indian but not living in India and I have my world view from traveling, speaking, reading and interacting with people all over the world.

Sure, I am generalizing and stereotyping everyone in this case but I only pointed out a pattern that everyone sees.

Your world view generally chimes with strident hindutva views in India. That's fine, but generalisations on a topic in a city you know nothing about comes across as ignorant at best, and in the context of the trouble here, agenda driven more than likely. Maybe find a general thread about UK Muslims if you want to make negative generalisations.

A "pakistani origin" guy is blaming hindu indians and other threads he even gave thinly veiled threats.

What peace? Pakistanis attacked and burnt hindu temples in 1992 as well.

Indian community is one of the most well off in UK, i am sure they can take care of themselves without the help of pakistanis. About time they started funding and supporting political parties who will be impartial, and move away from the labour, as they only seem to be appeasing one side.

You are doing the same thing by even making up words like Hindutva views.

You should be the last person complaining about negative generalizations.

The point being due to economic or education constraints, British Pakistanis are more susceptible to drive themselves into a frenzy on such matters.

You do see the semantics right in the face. Yesterday some guy was painting graffiti on Nawaz Sharif’s house in London. If someone can do that in such a heavy security zone, slapping some poor convince store Hindu owner due to some cricket match or some news out of India doesn’t seem far fetched. Yes if it was a Hindu overseas guy doing such activities it would seem surreal. Not saying people of Hindu descent are not capable of crime or nuisance but the generalization comes from what everyone sees in the news especially out of UK.

There may be some issues locally between two south Asian communities and which is very regrettable but most of them are interested in making their own life better

Oh stop being a drama queen..there were no thinly veiled threats. No hindus are under threat here. Only racists like you think in absolutes. You know nothing. I repeat know nothing about the situation here. My being Pakistani has nothing tondo with it. The majority here are Muslims of Indian origin. All my friends are indians. You know nothing of this place..and your constant rants are just further exposing your racism.

Cricketjoshila is ignorant and knows nothing of the demographics of leicester

He doesnt even realise that leicester is full of indians both hindus and indian muslims and the issues are between them which stem directly back to the venom the hindutva is propogating in india and now exporting abroad

You sure spew a lot of rubbish here. Muslims and Hindus generally live peacefully in all of countries outside of India :) be it North America, UK, Gulf countries etc. One off incident where Hindudva extremists in UK couldn't digest a loss against Pakistan, went out venting and damaging properties to make a scene to gain sympathy. It didn't go anywhere and their drama got badly exposed. When Pakistan lost to India 2 weeks ago, guess what nothing happened because Pakistani aren't sore losers like Hindudva extremists in UK who couldn't digest a cricket match loss.

And such a lame well off Indian tag usual attempt that you love guys obsessing over, just like everything else third world country Indian. Majority Indians still go through the daily grind to make ends meet, knowing that you move to other countries in such huge numbers, a few well off is obviously expected. Now run all sorts of analysis and figures just so you would be able to sleep at night. There are majority who clean toilets and do all kind of 7/11 and other odd jobs so keep trying hard here to present a different picture. Read they recently deported 40-50 Indians from Canada back to their caves in India as they were causing a lot of problems by damaging properties and gang fights etc. Heard it keeps getting worse their with Indian community.

Correction. Please do some research. The violence started after teh 1st round match between India and Pakistan which India won. But unlike you I wouldn't call Pak sore losers. I live in UK and have Pak riends and colleagues as well as meet Pak acquaintances regularly. The relationship between Indians and Pakistanis have been nothing but cordial. There will be some hot headed people on both sides which causes some sparks to flare leading to violence.

As regarding Majority who clean toilets I dont know from where you got this "fact". India is the second most populous country and hence more people go out in search of greener pastures. But post 2000 after the advent of IT industry the majority have been IT people that have moved to the west. Yes, in middle east you find many (especially from kerala) doing blue collar jobs.

I can understand and dont mind you being blinded by hate but atleast get your facts right.

12 New Arrests Over Leicester Violence Post India-Pakistan Cricket Match

British police investigating clashes between groups of men on the streets of the eastern England city of Leicester following an India-Pakistan cricket match earlier this year have made 12 more arrests over the course of December.

Leicestershire Police said in an update this week that its investigating team is working through the evidence and has identified a number of suspects and carried out enquiries to work up to making over 47 arrests. A further 12 men were arrested in the last few weeks and one was voluntarily interviewed, with three of them being charged with offences relating to a number of disorder offences.

"We've been working hard behind the scene reviewing the CCTV footage and all the hours of body-worn video from officers who were working and making IDs of those who may be involved," said Detective Chief Inspector Rob Arthur, who is leading the force's investigating team.

"This work has led us to be able to make these arrests and bring these people into custody in order to get their accounts. It's work that has taken time, due to the nature of it, and it's work we'll be continuing to carry out," he said.

Those arrested, aged between 25 and 45, are all said to be local to Leicester and have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder or suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in relation to the clashes that took place in September.

Three of them arrested on suspicion of public order offences - Jadved Patel, 46, Zakir Umarji, 26, and Hassan Chunara, 28 - have been charged to appear before Leicester Magistrates' Court on different dates next month.

"Identifying the number of people that are involved is a significant investment but these arrests and charges are a step closer to bringing those responsible for the disorder to justice," said David Sandall, Deputy Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police.

It follows ongoing investigation updates from the local police over what they termed as "serious disorder" and "significant aggression" as groups of men, believed to be largely from local Hindu and Muslim communities, clashed in the wake of the India-Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match in Dubai at the end of August.

Leicestershire Police had to call in backup from other forces and repeatedly used dispersal and stop and search powers to restore calm over days of unrest, caught on some social media videos. The Indian High Commission in London issued a statement to "strongly condemn the violence perpetrated against the Indian community in Leicester and vandalisation of premises and symbols of Hindu religion".

Some groups of the British-Indian community and think tanks have since claimed that much of the violence was the result of "misinformation" and fake news circulating on social media.

Muslim pupils are telling their Hindu classmates to change their religion to avoid bullying and make their lives easier, a think tank has found.

The study by the Henry Jackson Society found that Hindu pupils are being “held responsible” for the actions of India and facing xenophobic slurs from white pupils.

It comes after disorder broke out in Leicester between the Hindu and Muslim communities, which the report warned the same tensions are fuelling discrimination in schools.

Half of Hindu parents said their children had suffered hatred in schools with incidents including a pupil having beef thrown at her by classmates, the report found.

Hinduism is the third most common religion in the UK, with around one million people identifying as Hindu.

The henry jackson society has zero credibility. This report seems devoid real facts. How many pupils? How many complaints? Where? How many were white pupils being racist. How many Muslims made those coments? Just sensationalist to try and stoke the hinduphobia myth.

Also the way they have tried to connect two or three issues together shows you what a nonsensical pilenof garbage this is. Everybody knows what the Henry jackson society is all about. Islamaphobic right wing nut jobs.

Anything against Muslims is Islamophobic or racist.

Not true. But if you actually do a search for Henry Jackson society you will see pretty quickly that it is Islamphobic. One of the first articles I saw come up was something to do with Andrew Tate and the Incel-Islamism link. It looked extremely left wing, not sure you would like it either.

I have read this article as well and wanted to post it but you beat me to it. Awful stuff this and that too in a country like United Kingdom. But the good thing is, the amount of dislikes (compared to likes) and the comments on that MSN article shows what local Brits think about this.

Cpt. Rishwat - Since you couldn't respond yesterday but did you meant this yesterday that Hindus in Britain are timid bcoz they are not into conversion?

I knew this excuse will come :91:

Any organization or article suddenly becomes zero credibility/right wing when it goes against the propaganda. How can one live with so much ignorance is beyond me.

I didn't say anything about conversion. Not sure which thread you are referring to, but from what I recall, I think I was expressing my surprise that so many British Indians seem to love Modi. I was wondering what was the appeal since he is not particularly educated, which Hindus have always prided themselves on, so I thought maybe his aggressive policies against minorities appealed because Hindus wanted to change the perception of them as timid abroad, I think I referenced the Apu Simpson thread as an example.

It's not an excuse. The Henry jackson society is well known for this. Just do a search online. The Muslim community in the uk is well versed with their islamaphobia.

Your problem is you desperately want to portray the Hindu community as put upon in the west. But there is almost zero evidence of systematic and systemic anti Hindu sentiment in the west even amongst Muslims.

On the other hand there is documented evidence of institutional racism and islamaphobia. Facts don't care what you may believe or what you're biases are.

For example Oxford university did a report that highlighted the racism in recruitment. The Runnymead trust had done numerous studies on islamaphobia in employment. People with Muslims names are less likely to be offered a job or rental as compared to ones with Hindu names. These are facts.

"The impulse to weld together a coalition of neoconservatives and liberals and even left interventionists and supporters of Israel allowed the HJS to claim a bipartisan mantle. Within a few years of its formation, however, many of the liberals were removed in what has been referred to as ‘Mendoza’s putsch‘ so named after the director of the think tank Alan Mendoza. An unsuccessful prospective Tory candidate in the 2015 election, Mendoza, moved the think tank rightwards, especially after the 2010 integration of the Centre for Social Cohesion. Described in the Guardian as a purveyor of ‘relentless Islamophobia,’ its director Douglas Murray has a history of anti-Muslim statements. In the years following the integration of the CSC the HJS income increased markedly from about £0.3 million in 2010 to around £1.3 million in 2013."

So you think there is no semblance of truth at all in the story and Henry Jackson society cooked it up entirely? And reputed journals like Telegraph posting that cooked up story? LOL

Henry Jackson might have posted few articles before villanizing a certain community but that dosen't mean everything they post is a lie and islamophobia. Let me give you an example, the wire.in is a left leaning website in India who are yet to say a single positive thing about present govt, not one. They published an interview yesterday about Modi's lapses during Pulwama which even PM of Pak quoted. So shall we also say, just bcoz its posted in WIRE.IN and its always publish hinduphobic news this one is propaganda too?

Leicester events of last year was a shameful chapter last year and more and more things coming up only pointing towards one direction. Discrediting the source of the news and calling it right wing etc just to suit our narrative is old tactics.

Henry Jackson is well known anti-Muslim rag.

I don't live in Leicester but overall British Muslims have grown suspicious of Hindus as so many are in love with the RSS and BJP. There may be some kids using nasty language towards Hindu children, which is very wrong of course.

However why dont those brave RSS warriors return, without a police escort? Surely they will teach the Muslims a lesson not to mess with Hindus? :sachin

Yes. Because they have a history of cooking up stuff. Statistics and selective analysis can be very powerful. The HJS are know neo conservative Islam haters. Nothing they say about Muslims can be credible.

Rubbish. There is zero evidence of things " going one direction" except from fascist right wing Hindu rags and racists like you. I live here in Leicester. There are no major issues. The biggest problem we have at the moment is the power struggle within the labour party. No Hindu Muslim stuff. That was brought in by your ilk. I'm here daily. On the ground. My kids attend the schools. I go to the markets. Yes there has been some tension now and then but by and large no probs. I go regularly to Indian shops and meet hindus..no problems.

HJS is a known culture war promoter. Theybpromoted the now discredited analysis about Muslim groomers. One of their patrons has openly said they need to make things hard for Muslims in Europe.

You sit in slumdogistan and read your rss bakwaas and modi sponsored garbage and lecture us. I would say stay in your Lane. You don't know anything about the ground realities here.

So let me ask again. Telegraph and HJS society woke up one fine morning and suddenly decided to cook up the entire story? I can understand if you say they are exxeggerating the situation but to say entire thing is false is living in denial. So everything written below NEVER happened and they just created a random story? There is no smoke without fire...ever heard of that?

In one example a child “was harassed and told that if they convert to Islam, their life will become so much easier” and in another told: “You aren’t going to survive very long... If you want to go to paradise, you’ll have to come to Islam... Hindus are the herbivores at the bottom of the food chain, we will eat you up.”

Another parent said children were told to watch videos of an Islamic preacher and to “convert because Hinduism makes no sense”.

Researchers also found evidence of xenophobia including from Christian pupils, with one child told: “Jesus will send your Gods to hell.”

Eveeything above is false?

Also, don't worry about where I live and all but if that gives you any comfort, I live and travel extensively all over UK, including Leicester...so pretty well aware of the ground realities. And if you don't trust me, just read the comment section on that MSN link where this story was published and see for yourself what majority of local brits has to say.

Henry Jackson society has been sued by Muslims in the past. It paid libel damages and apologised. It has a clear agenda even if its too tough for you to accept.

But lets move on from them.

Can you explain why the RSS supporters ask for police protection when protesting their hate against Muslims? In India your mates ask for police when lynching and killing Muslims

Indians/Hindus in UK made the big mistake of thinking that having a shared political platform with Pakistanis or Muslims will benefit them. It hasn't.

They have started to realise how foolish they were to support the labour party. Now they are moving away from the labour and moving to Conservative or LD.

The community must use every legal route to counter the street power of the other side. Under no circumstance must they engage in any illegal confrontation and give the other side any ammunition to malign them.

You are a educated well off million plus community with little history of being involved in violent activities. Use it to your advantage.

haha..rubbish..majority of labour supporters in leicester are hindus. Yes some are moving to the tories because they are islamaphobic or opportunistic but labours vote is solid here.

oh so you travel to leicester so know everything about it cool..i travel to London all the time and know everything about it and about devon and cornwall and scotland..oh please..you dont know jack mate.

the HJS are not credible. their grooming research was rubbished. They have been sued numerous times. This reasearch also seems utter garbage as they havent presented numbers. If it were credible they would be publishing numbers like crazy. You have no idea what the media scene against Muslims in the uk is like. fake news and false stats are common.

did some of these incidents occur..maybe..are they endemic no, or institutional? no. Hindus are still treated way better than most ethnic minority communities in the uk and that is a fact. so stop crying and trying to portray yourselves are victims. its not backed up by facts.

You are making little to no sense and letting your prejudice cloud over your intellect mate. I understand after debating on this thread days after days, this news came as a shock for you but think about it rationally, you keep on saying HJS is not credible, this news is fake, there is no proof but you don't have any proof either. Can you show me a proof how you know this report is fake? I mean HJS has already given specific examples where the parents of those children who are complaining. They have specifics....do you have any such proof/evidence that all of this is fake? It dosen't work like that my friend based on your whims. You entire arguement is shoot the messanger down and let the inconvinient truth die. Won't work unfortunately.

BTW, another thread I will give a pass from now as I am being vindicated and got nothing more to add. Truth is for all to see...thank you.

They are quoted a very tiny number of cases but you should present the whole report as you are supporting this study. We have no numbers or anything just four lines or a paragraph. If you can point me to a credible study by independent researchers then I am all for debating it. The HJS are a neo conservative anti Muslim bunch of nut jobs. Nothing they say is credible. I am not being prejudiced. You are. You have convinced yourself in some twisted way that hindus are under threat by Muslims in the uk. This is a load of utter nonsense and a cheap conspiracy theory.

The onus is on you to prove this so called mythical report being true. Nobody takes the HJS seriously. They are highly dubious. They have a known agenda to target Muslims in the uk. There is no disputing this.

Interesting that you "live and travel extensively all over UK, including Leicester" but don't actually seem to have any local knowledge of any particular region. I would guess you must be an immigrant who has very little idea of life outside of the four walls you live in, that would be why everyone assumed you were posting from India initially. Just because you find articles from Islamophobe websites on the internet doesn't make you an expert on Britain. You could do that from Kolkata.
