Why should I ask anyone when I have followed his career since ball one. Yes I have been writing 'fiction' because you don't know how to use Google. It seems like you still haven't been able to source the reputable international website that conducted his interview and quoted him. There is so much fantasy in your last post that I don't know where to begin, but I will make a brief attempt even though I know it will sail over your head.

Firstly, he was not treated harshly till 2005. He was simply not consistent enough, and repeatedly got exposed by great Australian, South African and Caribbean bowlers. His performances in the UAE vs Australia in 2002, in the Caribbean in 2002 and in SA in 2002-2003 were too poor for him to get a consistent run. He only found his feet in Test cricket in 2005, after which he became a consistent run machine. Up until that point, he was similar to Shafiq. A hundred every now and then, but too many low scores to ignore.

Secondly, he never kept for a prolonged period of time. He only kept in emergency because he was the best slip fielder in the team and also the fittest. Taufeeq Umar has actually kept in more matches than Younis, does that also make him a team man? What do you think of Umar Akmal? He was made to keep for a couple of years even though he isn't a specialist keeper. Is he the biggest Pakistani team man of all time?

Now as far as Mahela is concerned, he wasn't a great ODI player. However, he was comfortably better than Younis, even though the overall stats do not reflect that. He has a century in a World Cup semifinal and final, Younis has failed miserably in every World Cup.

Yes Younis is not a team man. A team man does not force himself into a World Cup squad because of his personal ambition, even though he does not deserve to play, and neither does he turn down captaincy in the last moment, only to accept the offer two years later.

However, like I said, you have made up your mind already. You don't seen anything wrong with his actions and words and consider him a saint. Well, good for you. However, please don't attempt to convince me with your fiction. I don't need to rely on you when I have followed him since his debut.

Sir it is fiction because as I have said already, I have followed his career since his debut in Rawalpindi in 2000. I remember almost each and every innings that he has played. I don't need your word or anyone else's word as far as his batting and character is concerned. You are entitled to your opinion, and I expect you to respect mine. I tried to show you the reality, but you are infatuated with your admiration for the man so I don't have any hope of changing your opinion on this matter. If you got offended by the word 'fiction', then I am deeply sorry for it and I sincerely apologize.

There are no doubts that Younis Khan was a pain to watch in One Days and did not deserve to play limited overs for Pakistan this long.

However a very valuable test batsman he has been.

out of what i wrote u just took that keeping
word out and wrote a theory about it...
umar kept wickets because he was happy with it while younis was made to keep wickets..
U say a Mahela was better but stats don't prove it.... nobody can understand this...
I have no doubt about your knowledge and i already called u a veteran poster....
U might have surely followed Younis's career ball by ball..... I am just requesting u to read about off the ground stories about him, that is something u cant get to know while only
watching his matches....
His stats are somewhat similar to INZI's stats as well IN ODIS and by your logic then inzi shouldn't have been in the team as well.... infact Shoaib Malik, Hafeez,Akmal BROTHERS,Shehzad and SARFARAZ all have similar avg. that if younis... nobody of them then deserves to be in the team.
THIS IS NOT A FICTION... in the last month I read some 15 odd articles about him by various journalists which included interviews of him, his teammates, his neighbours, friends, relatives etc.....
Also get over this KIDDING of I DONT KNOW HOW TO GOOGLE.....everybody out here knows how to google even my 18 MONTHS OLD nephew knows it.. and everyone in this thread knows that REPUTABLE SITE.....
I have no doubt about ur knowledge and that's evident from ur posts and also your memory is Top Class.... But just a request-----
DO NOT ONLY WATCH THE MOVIE, WATCH THE MAKING OF MOVIE AS WELL.

77.30 Younis' average in the Tests that Pakistan won, is the third-highest among the 22 batsmen who scored over 4000 runs in wins. Only Don Bradman (130.88) and Inzamam-ul-Haq (78.16) are ahead of Younis. He averages 33.60 in lost matches and 57.35 in drawn Tests.
That pretty much sums up how team has been LARGELY DEPENDENT on Younis's performance.

Firstly, Umar was not happy to keep. He and Kamran regularly stated that he was not comfortable with the job.He has never kept at any level and it was physically taxing. Secondly, are you seriously comparing him to Inzamam in ODIs? Do you really want me to explain to you why Inzamam was 10x the ODI batsman Younis ever was, and why he is comfortably inferior to all the other batsmen that you mentioned in this format? Are you aware of Younis' performance in ODIs between 2009-2015? He was a tail-ender.

Thank you for your kind words, but we really cannot agree on anything related to Younis. We see things in completely different dimensions, but I can guarantee you that not a single person on this forum or outside this forum will agree with you that if Younis didn't deserve to be in the ODI team, neither did Inzamam.

Mamoon. sir i have never justified his selection in Odi's.... i am disappointed at the way he was selected and dropped in a pathetic way.... u must and must remember mamoon if u hav followed all his career that ""YOUNUS played 4 down 5 down and even 6 down till 2007...and then he was opener 1 down 2 down 3 down"" he was never given a consistency chance at one position. U can check these facts at the REPUTABLE SITE aslo....INZI played almost whole his career at 4.... that is a huge difference and anyone can understand that....
before banglore test he was threatened that he would thrown out and we all know how badly he was treated in 2009. these things make a huge impact on a player...
kami was complaining about having his brother as keeper becoz he wanted a place in the team and two akmals can never be afforded...
Mamoon dont make it a matter of ego...
u just thought that simple english comment was directed towards u, which never was the case.

I know that Younis used to bat at number 6 in ODIs initially. He actually performed well there, but on the advice of Imran Khan, his position was swapped with Malik in 2006-2007, who was doing excellently at number 3. Younis did well at number 3 initially in 2007-2008, but he got a free run from 2009 till the end of his ODI career, and he got a consistent run at number 3/4 so the excuse of moving up and down the order doesn't work.

I didn't make it a matter of ego. I was just trying to explain to you that he wasn't misquoted and he actually made those comments. You were mistaken and I was trying to correct you, that's all.

It's great to see that we both agree on some points.... I said i would always believe a man if he says""all the confusion and chaos in the media is completely wrong, i am gonna retire even if i score hundred in every innings"" , rather than any other source.
well mr. umar akmal is back
ohhhh god

The legend seems to be on a holiday in the lovely Caribbean, celebrating his 10k runs. Hopefully, the occasion of his last match will inspire him to score a hundred.
