ICC CT 2017 | England [310] beat New Zealand [223] by 87 runs

If New Zealand beat England, they will have 3 points. If Bangladesh beat New Zealand Bangladesh will have 3 points. If England beats Australia,England will go through,if washed out then all the 4 teams will have 3 points, very interesting!

Exactly, if NZ win today.... The match between England Australia will be knock out then you can defeat NZ with a better a run rate and qualify.

Also if two teams are on same points, then the team with most wins goes forward and if only the number of wins is equal then run rate comes into play.

This English team is so overrated, can't wait to knock them out in semis, if we are lucky to meet them :srini

Hoping we meet India in the semis as well :mv.

But why? You'd have a great chance of making the finals if you meet south africa, considering their stellar record at choking and also their recent phainty at the hands of the english team, why do you want your team's journey to end at the semis? :yk2

Many bits and pieces cricketers in newzealand's team

Bits and peices cricketers are neccesity of modern day cricket. Look at all the top teams, they all have those.

I would say that Andersen and Neesham both are batting all rounders.

Butler must take the initiative and take the team score to 300+

If Nz goes into semis, they will reaffirm their title as team who always punch above weight.

Seriously when was the last time they weren't in semis?

NZ also has equally long batting order and they have better openers than England.

I can give you more simple equation.England wins their remaining 2 matches including this one and go through with 6 points. Then if Bangladesh just win anyhow against New Zealand,Bangladesh will go into semi with 3 points and Australia and New Zealand will fail with 2 and 1 point respectively. So i am supporting England.

You see the hard hitting and improvisation by these top teams that's the name of the game, our lot can just dream of pulling off such shots.

Really miss those razzaq and Afridi days, we took their lower order hitting for granted and around 100 runs in last 10 was like walk in the park, those days seem like they never happened.

Is 310 is good enough? What England got in JK Ball?He seems to me as a ordinary hit the deck bowler, the biggest weak link in English bowling.Adil is a very lucky bowler, gets wickets with nothing deliveries, otherwise a good batting side should take 75/0 in his 10 overs.

The only way England can win is to reduce New Zealand to 50/3 after 17 overs.

Any decent team should chase this total against the english bowling attack, nz should kick themselves if they fail to chase this total

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride :afridi

But when you see they are not even in the guest list of the wedding and people assume they are their just for humming up some retro music. Then suddenly, when the event starts - she, the beautiful bridesmaids with a silver fern lodged in her midnight-black hairs, which are crashing over her shoulders; have a repertoire for becharming the audience, who was masquerading itself under the guise of insignificant guest until now, comes into herself and attend the wedding standing beside the bride.

Ofcourse, the people will remember the bride but one can't help to be mesmerized by bridesmaid too. :))

310 is not that big a total, backing the blacks to chase it.

Especially against an average bowling attack. Plan should be to target Jake Ball and Ben Stokes, play out Mark Wood, and milk the rest of the bowlers.

If England lose today, your destiny is in your hands

If England win today, then not only will you have to defeat NZ but hope that Australia don't win, so that's depending upon others .

If England win today and lose to Australia, then NZ-Bangladesh match will become inconsequential. You will not be able to achieve anything even if you win.

But if you NZ Win today, your destiny is in your own hands. You will have have to defeat NZ by a certain margin which is better than depending upon other results over whom you have no control to make way for you.

A very funny end to the innings here but England could have been bowled out for far less if not for some late hitting by Butler and Plunket.

The English attack is very average, their main man Woakes isn't playing.

If this match is rained off, NZ and Aus will both be at 2 points each.

So which ever team beats Bangladesh with the biggest margin will advance? :))

Australia had it rained out against Bangladesh yesterday. This game isn't going to get rained out, we should even get in a full 50 overs.

Wont rain off

And Australia / NZ both have one match left which they could lose or win.

Wood and Ball, only Boundary missing.

This is such a day, when I don't know whom to support between Poms & Kiwis, but need to follow the match. Head says, Poms winning gives us a slim chance of beating Kiwis - but, then I believe Aussies will give the Poms a thrashing & that NZ-BD match becomes academic. If Kiwis, win that means they are better side than Poms, who have thrashed us :(.

Ideally, I would like to see Poms thrashing Kiwis, & then beat Aussies, which makes our task as easy as a wash out against Kiwis at Cardiff .......................

Go poms Go

How does that help us?

If Poms win today & then Aussies beat them, which we should expect - we'll be sucking fingers on our last match.

If Kiwi's win by tiny margin; one of ENG - AUS is out, & we have a slim chance of beating NZ, but small margin (we lost to ENG in 48th overs) & advance (even better, if they consider head to head).

Really bored of all those one sided and rain ruined matches hope this will be a close finish

Bangladesh don't deserve to get past the league stage. There's no way they are getting there without rain assistance. NZ and the winner of Eng/Oz should get in.

If there is a washout against kiwis in Cardiff,3 of the teams except England (England beating Aussie and New Zealand i assume) will have 2 points each.So any team with better run rate out of 3 will go through.Very interesting scenario!

To me thus Poms vs Australia is the most important match !

Nothing wrong in hoping and supporting our team.Who knows Bangladesh can beat New Zealand!

Why Moin still not bowling? He is a better bowler than long hop Adil.

They can be competitive against NZ outside of Bangladesh, but they have been disappointing so far. I thought their batting would do a lot better than it has. Apart from Tamim, its been disastrous. And they got shock and awed by the Aussie pace attack. Shows that they are not there yet.
