ICC CT 2017, Group B | Pakistan v Sri Lanka | 12th June, 2017 | Cardiff | Sri Lanka innings

Batting would have been pretty weak then

No. because AA does not really contribute much, so by adding a lower order hitter our batting would be stronger. Also it would mean that Sarfraz could bat higher. He isn't much use as a lower order player, but is good in the top 5.

This is not how decisions are made by considering that batsman is not performning so lets play a bowler or all rounder instead of him.

After seeing these conditions I m ready to bowl too! My run up is very dale steyn esque!!😅😅😂😂😂

Mine is Wasim-esque. Only problem is that the delivery is Tanvir-esque.

By the way Pakistan chased 302 against England in Sep 2016 on the very same ground.

Why did Sarfraz decide to bowl? We better get them out around 220, otherwise we are going back home.

Here's Pakistan's equation to better India's NRR: Target 350, chase it in 15 overs
Target 300, chase it in 13 overs
Target 250, chase it in 10.4 overs
Target 200, chase it in 8.1 overs

I thought it'd be much harder.

Srilankan anthem consumes so much time...pak runs a danger of slow over rate.

Don't underestimate Dickwella, he knows how to use the long handle - he averaged 39 at a SR of 114 in SL's torrid tour of SA earlier this year.

Its not an individual game that somebody hasnt done anything to be dropped.

Its about team combinations, you don't necessarily have to perform poorly to be left out, as conditoons are also to be taken into account.

In the little amount of games he's been given he's shown that he's miles better under pressure than ttfs like Hafeez. Anyways, now's the time to get behind the team, so I hope Faheem and the rest go well.

pakistan will chase 350 in 15 overs but they will be all out for 102 runs in 15 overs

You are correct. This is exactly why we fail. We do not think logically instead we keep playing those who are not performing. The fact of the matter is that Faheem is a lower order batsman, so you are not paying one batsman short. In fact your batting is stronger because you have replaced a slow scoring underperforming batsmen for someone who can help the team win. But Pak is not interested in letting go of under performing players.

Lets hope Sarfraz doesn't waste the new ball with Imad or Hafeez. Getting lovely swing first up.

I think Amir should bowl as fast as he can in his first spell because it would aid him in getting quick wickets. Hasn't been the case this far.

This is the exact line up I would have gone with too, it's the best one with our resources atm. I think Imad is too high at 6, but we don't have many options, and at least we're building to the future looking forward. We can always draft in a specialist batsman after the tournament at 6.

He tries to find some swing but the ball is really pathetic

Amir great first ball followed by 5 average balls. Why can't he ball same balls 3 to 4 times in a over?

Junaid hasn't gotten swing but is look much more threatening because of his attacking line and length. While Amir is definitely the better bowler, he needs to loosen up.

We should get in Hussain Talat there.

After CT:

Sahibzada Farhan
Fakhar/Umar Amin
Babar Azam
Shoaib Malik
Haris Sohail
Hussain Talat/Imad
Shadab
Fahim
Hasan
Rumman
Amir

Hope Amir can learn a thing or two from Junaid's over and bowl more full.

Seriously don't understand the harm in bowling full, at least do it first up! Amir literally wastes the first few overs and this is why we have a tough time getting teams bowled out eventually. When was the last time we even got a wicket in the first 5 overs? Even Irfan, who was a giant, bowled full first up.

Why was Junaid not played against India?

Team management thought as the wicket was flat and bit dry, Wahab Riaz might come in handy with his reverse swin with the old ball.

Amir is getting worse day by day. Really disappointed how he got finished.

Junaid looking surprisingly good, good signs. Hope he keeps it up. Decent start so far for us.
