Why does sa need a t20 practice matches as they were playing a month ago in india only.I see rest of the good teams skipping it happily.

We also played warm up against SA in Mumbai during 2016 WT20. I remember it coz I attended that game.

Just hope we dont get knocked out in Semi's this time as well

Only England and Sri Lanka are skipping the official warmups because they are playing a 3 match series starting today.

My main concern for both teams is that they are playing a match on jan31 and again a warm up on Feb 4.its a real screw jack kind of stuff than taking rest.on top of it ,Sa has to travel and play. Its not a test match to adjust. Both have easy matches as first fixture.

India also doens't need to play warm-up fixture as we are currently playing the T20 series. .. maybe we can play Tilak, Axar in warm-up game to check their fitness.

Which teams? England and SL are playing the last match on the 3rd

Yeah the travel will be tough. But teams can still opt out of these warm ups if they want to

Every match against Pakistan is a practice match bro.

Ali khan is a pakistan born bowler. His opening bowling partner is Indian born bowler. Netravalkar.

Darwish Rasooli’s rapid half-century, backed by a disciplined collective bowling performance, guided Afghanistan to a comfortable 61-run victory over Scotland in a warm-up match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 on Monday.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan saw his decision pay off as his side posted a commanding 184/6 in their allotted 20 overs. However, the innings began on a shaky note, with Sediqullah Atal (6) and Gulbadin Naib (3) dismissed inside the first four overs, leaving Afghanistan reeling at 20/2.

The momentum shifted when Rasooli joined Ibrahim Zadran at the crease, and the pair stitched together a blistering 82-run partnership for the third wicket. The stand was broken in the 13th over when Brad Currie removed Zadran, who played a steady anchoring role with 36 off 32 balls, including two fours and a six.

Rasooli continued to dominate the attack, adding 27 runs with Azmatullah Omarzai (3) for the fourth wicket before forging a further 32-run partnership with Mohammad Nabi. Nabi contributed a brisk 34 off 16 deliveries, striking two sixes and two fours.

Rasooli finished as the top scorer with a superb 84 off 46 balls, featuring seven fours and five sixes, and was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.

For Scotland, Mark Watt and Jack Jarvis claimed two wickets apiece, while Currie picked up one.

In reply, Scotland struggled against Afghanistan’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 123 in 19.3 overs while chasing a target of 185. Wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Cross and opener Michael Jones were the joint highest scorers with 21 each, while Brandon McMullen (20), Watt (15) and George Munsey (13) were the other contributors.

Azmatullah Omarzai led Afghanistan’s bowling with three wickets, supported by Ziaur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi, who took two each, while Naib, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan claimed one wicket apiece.

For the same reason India and Pakistan (who finished a series yesterday) are playing the practice matches.

I object for both teams .they should keep their players safe before an important tournament. Every one knows the conditions in india apart from associates.

They practice in the nets too and sometimes get injured. It’s a risk all teams take. Your objection is duly noted. But nothing is wrong in more practice and to gauge other teams.

Men's T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up: Day 2 wrap

Oman and Zimbabwe began their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 preparations with confident wins in their respective warm-up clashes in Colombo on Tuesday.

A half-century by experienced opener Aamir Kaleem powered Oman to a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka A, while Zimbabwe defeated Netherlands by 29 runs.

Later in the day, Nepal impressed in their first outing, scoring a seven-wicket win over UAE in Chennai.

Here's how the action panned out:

Oman get the better of Sri Lanka A

After electing to bat first, the Sri Lankan top order struggled to get going and were down to 41/3 inside the first five overs.

Important contributions from Wanuja Sahan (29) and Chamindu Wijesinghe (24) lower down the order helped them to a respectable score. For Oman, Shah Faisal, Shakeel Ahmed and Jay Odedra claimed two wickets each.

Southpaw Kaleem, who has been a mainstay in the team for the last two years, shouldered the responsibility during Oman's innings. Even though he kept losing wickets at the other end, Kaleem scored 80 off just 47 balls, with the help of eight fours and three sixes. Though he did not carry the bat through, he set his team up for victory.

Vinayak Shukla added the finishing touches, staying unbeaten on 39 as Oman chased down the target with five wickets and two overs to spare.

Drawn in Group B along with Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe and co-hosts Sri Lanka, Oman will play all their group matches in Sri Lanka. They begin their World Cup campaign on February 9, with a contest against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe warm-up with win over Netherlands

A fine display with the bat and ball saw Zimbabwe through to a 29-run win over the Netherlands.

In their first warm-up clash in Colombo, Zimbabwe elected to bat and posted a strong 178/9. While Ryan Burl top scored with 50 off 31 runs, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Dion Myers and captain Sikandar Raza chipped in with cameos. Pacer Logan van Beek was the pick of the Dutch bowlers, as he claimed 3/22 in three overs.

The Netherlands’ chase got off to a stuttering start, as they lost the first two wickets in the first over. Left-arm pacer Richard Ngarava ran through the Dutch top order, snapping the first three wickets and finishing with figures of 3/11. Graeme Cremer may be one of the key players for Zimbabwe during the World Cup on spinner-friendly tracks in India and Sri Lanka and the leg spinner returned with an impressive 2/15 in three overs.

A defiant 40 not out by van Beek ensured that Netherlands played out their quota of overs, but they could only muster 149.

Netherlands and Pakistan will clash in the T20 World Cup opener on February 7 in Colombo.

Nepal cruise past UAE

Nepal won the battle of the associate nations, as they dominated UAE for a seven-wicket win in Chennai.

Put into bat, UAE made a promising start and scored 41 runs in their first six overs. Unable to carry the momentum, they were reduced to 66/5. A 68-run partnership between Harshit Kaushik (35) and Sohaib Khan (38) rescued them, guiding the UAE to 145/6 in 20 overs.

UAE pacer Muhammad Rohid (1/13) troubled Nepal early on, and the chasing team looked in a spot of bother at 45/3.

But the experienced Dipendra Singh Airee and Aarif Sheikh took the game away from UAE with an unbeaten 103-run stand. While Airee scored 50 in 31 balls, Sheikh was a lot more destructive, hitting eight fours and two sixes for a rampant 61.

Both teams are hoping hope to build momentum in the warm-up matches and cause an upset or two at the marquee event. While Nepal is in Group C, along with England, Italy, Scotland and West Indies, UAE has been drawn in Group D, which includes South Africa, New Zealand, Canada and Afghanistan.

Nortje, one of the fastest bowlers in the world, was taken to cleaner by Ishan Kishan. 29 runs in a over. :klopp :kp

India be South Africa

India 194/5 after 15 overs 🔥🔥🔥🔥

They smashed 16 sixes already

Ishan Kishan alone smashed 7 sixes in 20 balls

I hope South Africa win today and give me the jackpot. Match is irrelevant so india may give chance to part timers, taking some risks on South Africa.

:klopp :kp

India 240/6

19 sixes hit tonight

Pandya went berserk

Match abandoned without a ball bowled

Oh ok. Rainy days in Sri Lanka.

It’s bright and sunny in India brother. The pitches are flat and lots of runs are flowing. We would have loved to see Pakistan team here. Too bad. Remember Fakhar Zaman played a mad innings against NZ here in 2023 CWC. Great memories
