So what can we expect from Pakistan?

Their win over Bangladesh was good so they must be high on confidence.

This could well be Ijaz Ahmed's last game as Head Coach.

What makes you think like that? He may ask PCB to give him another World Cup as a fully preparation.

Sri Lanka Under 19s win toss and have opted to bowl against Pakistan U19s

Still no Failsal Akram. PCB should do investigation about Ijaz and Qasim. If they found guilty should get life ban.

Definately thats so absurd you.have lost the quarters atleast u can play rest of squad ..even other 6 ft 8 zeeshan could have played. They have played the same team for 10.matches which is redcilous. Saj can you please find about faisal akram even Cricinfo had him best 5 players find of the tournament

Bowling first against Australia was such a ridiculous decision.

Pakistan Under 19s - 98/0 20.1/50 ov CRR: 4.85
PAKu19 Projections: 243 @ Current Run Rate | 277 runs @ 6 RPO | 337 runs @ 8 RPO

Seen many posters here attacking Haseebullah unfarila, but he has probably been Pakistan's most consistent batsmen in this tournament. And considering he is a WK that is very good.

SL have another Malinga type bowler lol

Haseebullah Khan got his hundred, he now needs to accelerate faster, only hit 5 fours and 1 six - qasim akram already hit 3 fours only on 16 runs from 12 balls

100s for Haseebullah and Qasim Akram

Pakistan Under 19s - 336/1 47/50 ov CRR: 7.14

On a pitch where everyone scored big runs, only Irfan Khan (the future Misbah ul Haq) didn’t score anything

Sri Lanka Under 19s - 39/4 9.1/50 ov CRR: 4.25

Pakistan Under 19s - 365/3 50/50 ov RR: 7.30

SL U19 require 327 runs with 245 balls remaining | Req RR: 8.00

You can’t be serious. He came to bat in the 50th over , 49.4 to be precise .. how many did you expect him to score ?

Good performance from the U19 boys.

Superb performances by Shehzad, Qasim Akram and Haseebullah Khan.

One bad day at the office versus Australia cost them.

Have you seen him bat? If so you will know how awful he is. Awful against pace and spin. Seems to have connections.

Skipper Akram shines for Pakistan

Pakistan were in command from the off at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, with openers Muhammad Shehzad and Haseebullah Khan dominating the Sri Lanka attack.

The pair led Pakistan to 100 without loss, Shehzad eventually made 73 off just 69 deliveries before he was dismissed by vice-captain Raveen de Silva.

But Khan was joined at the crease by the impressive skipper Qasim Akram and the two took the game away from Sri Lanka, putting on a superb stand. Both made centuries and took Pakistan beyond 350, Khan was finally gone when trapped by Matheesha Pathirana ending on 136.

Akram remained unbeaten as his side closed on 365-3, setting their opponents a daunting task to claim fifth place.

And the Sri Lankan response was in tatters after just two overs with Akram wreaking havoc with the new ball.

The talented all-rounder removed openers Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Pawan Pathiraja for a combined total of just one, with Shevon Daniel also falling between the two. Ranuda Somarathna also went for a duck with Akram single-handedly reducing Sri Lanka to 4-15.

From then on Sri Lanka were purely batting for pride. Their captain Dunith Wellalage didn’t go without a fight and made a brave 40, which included five boundaries.

Vinuja Ranpul was in similarly defiant mood hitting 53 not out and his sides only two sixes of the match.

But it wasn’t enough and Pakistan cleaned up a 238 run victory when Treveen Mathew was hit on the pads by Zeeshan Zameer’s full delivery, bowling out the Sri Lanka team inside 35 overs to secure 5th place.

Its a very good team but one bad day against Australia ruined everything , they were a serious contender for the title. Beat some good team including Afghanistan, BD and SL.

The team combination was totally wrong also qasim isn't captain material at all.

I have seen him bat in all the matches and he isn’t too bad a player for a 19 year older.. You really can’t write someone of completely at this age and level. These are young boys who have every chance in the world to improve their game and become better players. I really don’t understand how people can make such sweeping statements about players at this stage of their career. So many players who looked great at this level never progressed and made it to the next stage, similarly some ordinary players at this level made it so big in their careers.. U19 is no indicator to judge players future.

What is the point of great performance if the person is insecure and try to destroy his competitor (Faisal Akram)? Even in play off matches he sidelined Faisal Akram. Total selfish.

Sri Lanka had a pretty good team this time. Surprised to see them lose by 238 runs.

Plus bowling first didn’t help.

The ball was definitely moving around that's why I think they wanted to bowl first. If Australia had bowled first they would have made more use of the conditions.
