Bangladesh is a better side than Pakistan at the moment.
Would you still be saying this if pak beat nz tomorrow?

I feel Pak will beat NZ very easily. Kane Williamson is due a bad game. He is 80% of NZ batting. England is mental midget. SL , Bang don’t have a team worthy of being world champs. I feel on current form Pakistan deserves to be in top 4. It would be great to have an India Pakistan final. It would be best for sport of cricket. May the better side win.

Well this is interesting. Coincidence?![]()
Sri lanka must be gutted they have had 2 matches rained off, if they had even just won 1 of those 2 they would be in a strong position.
Bit more:
Pakistan's 6th Match of 1992 WC: Beat Aus by 48 runs and Man of the Match was Aamir Sohail
Pakistan's 6th Match of 1992 WC: Beat SA by 49 runs and Man of the Match was Haris Sohail
If this continues, Sarfaraz will become Pakistan's PM
If India beats England, are NZ through? Only teams who will be able to get to 11 points will be Bangladesh/Pakistan (both play each other) and SL will need to win all their games (SA, WI and India) to get to 12.
If Pakistan lose today, they are out?
Would you still be saying this if pak beat nz tomorrow?
Hoping pak makes it
On current form - pak nz aus and ind are best semi finalist .
Part of me is now becoming slightly uncomfortable about England blagging their way through to the semis. After losses to Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia frankly I think they deserve to be out of the running. Yes the Pakistan game was a thriller, very close and could have gone either way - but England got totally outplayed in the other two games, and were embarrassingly bad in consecutive run chases.
NZ will get beaten black and blue by Aus and England. Their luck ran out against Pak. I think that NZ will get knocked out of semis.
NZ will still have 11 points - same as Pak. NZ will most likely have a superior NRR.
Pakistan's best hope is England getting thrashed by India.
England wont win both matches.is moslt likey to only win one but my bet is they wont even win one.
Why so worried now that pak has wom v Nz ,chances for semis seems about 70%
No, England will destroy at least NZ into oblivion. Pak still has tough task ahead of them. Everything has to fall into place to qualify. However, after today's win, I would assume they have increased their chances tremendously.
England is under even more pressure now, thanks to Pakistan. NZ will be hurting from this defeat. I doubt either side will be able to 'destroy' each other in a pressure game. No, England will destroy at least NZ into oblivion. Pak still has tough task ahead of them. I don't see Pak or SL or BD qualifying for Semis. Pak has dug itself a huge hole and it is trying to claw its way out. But I am afraid they will fall just short.
SL will not make it. They do not have the talent and so far they have far outperformed their own expectations.
BD has the best of the chances to make it to Semis. However, one of NZ, England have to badly choke from here on to miss out.
Sri Lanka have a chance. They can beat West Indies and South Africa. They will play India in their last game, if India are already through anything can happen.
Srilanka can easily lose to SA and WI. They are not better than both of those teams.
Pak has easy schedule, but they have to not only win, but win by a big margin to nullify their bad NRR. That can put a lot of pressure on them to make mistakes.

They don’t need to be better than those teams, if they perform well they can beat South Africa and West Indies on their day.
I think we will get through if we win our last 2 games. As I think England will beat NZ but lose to India. I think New Zealand will lose their last 2 games.
NRR is only relevant in terms of New Zealand...cos New Zealand could lose their next two and we win our next two and we both end up on 11 points...
England lose either of their next two and they finish on 10...
Bangladesh lose against us then the max they can get is 9...
Sri Lanka win 2/3 they finish on 10...they win 3/3 they finish on 12...rendering NRR irrelevant...
You guys are having way too much faith in Srilanka. They are a terrible team who happen to play well in a couple of games.
Pak may win against Afghans, but they are not winning against BD.
I think India will lost to England. It will be a high scoring game and without Dhawan performing at the top, we are not scoring over 300.
Didn't people like this guy say the same thing before today? No one gave us a chance and considered today as the toughest game. Now suddenly Bangladesh is our toughest gameI don't think Sri Lanka will win their 3 games...my point was in reference to you stating that Pakistan needs a huge NRR...it's only relevant in trying to overtake New Zealand if they lose their next two...
On what basis have you concluded 'they are not winning against BD' ...I'm not taking Bangladesh lightly but what have they done better than us in this tournament?...
They have beaten South Africa and an inconsistent Windies side...and have conceded 380 twice in this tournament already...considering we have beaten New Zealand and England...I'm curious as to why you feel this is a foregone conclusion?...
When watching today's game I was a bit frustrated when Pakistan didn't show urgency in finishing the chase after the 42nd over when it was clear that we were in the driving seat (Win predictor had pakistan at 89%). I wish we had, because each ball we had to spare at the end of the game would in a way count twice since it improved our NRR and brought NZ's NRR down - who are the only team left in the tournament that we could compete on NRR with ...
That's why we have to play AFG very seriously and maximize runs off every delivery and try to take wickets on every single ball. The NRR between NZ & PAK is quite massive but it can be made up if we simultaneously make major moves the opposite way (PAK go up, NZ go down).

Bangladesh need to play extremely well to beat this Pakistan team now.
To give you guys an idea on how bad we are on NRR vs New Zealand. I ran some calculations... Pakistan would have to beat both AFG and BAN by 140 runs each and New Zealand would have to lose to Australia and England by 140 runs each - or some combination therein and equivalent NRR loss if PAK bat second or NZ bat first. It's unrealistic that this would happen.
Except the number of wins is the tie breaker when the points are level, not NNR.
Tbf I don't think we deserve to be in the Semis, we have one of the weakest batting line ups of the tournament. Bangladesh and Pakistan deserve it more and will offer more fight in the Semis.
Our captain/management keep persisting with duds who can't contribute 10 runs between them. Can only imagine how bad things will be in a SF where there is pressure.
At this point they have to play for the rest of the tournament.Any chance of Nichols or Blundell playing?...

Munro is a complete waste of a WC spot and somehow he's played all our WC games.NZ should bring in Blundell and Nicholls next game. I was baffled to see no Nicholls this game. Nicholls can at least anchor at the top.
With all this analysis, the one thing that always surprises me is the assumption that India will qualify.
They may easily lose twice this week.

I am beginning to not like this format. Too much competition for that one last spot between 4-5 teams. At this point, had Ind lost against Afg even they would’ve been in huge trouble. This is the beauty of this format- only Aussies are confirmed qualifiers while Afghans & SAF are out. 12-13 games left and still in multiple 3 of 7 will qualify, 4 will miss out. If WIN beats IND tomorrow, extremely unlikely but that will make every game there after almost do or die.

They would been on 7 points. I can see them losing against WI and wounded England. Why? They can still beat all the other teams.. 4 of them.

Feels like we're batting with 9 ATM and staring matches 0-2/0-3 with Guptill out of form.

I doubt the top three will change.. England looks most vulnerable not because of its 4th place but also because they have the toughest games left.
Hoping SA to turn up and win a few to make this more interesting
