Ramiz was saying Saud wasted because he is debuting after 4k FC runs. Interestingly, the SA commentator responded to Ramiz with "some would say that is the right way to do it". 4k FC runs wow! Big wake up call for folks who want rookies like Haris and Saim in the ODI team.
 
Darn shame Saud is out but he's changed the nature of Pakistan's inning with how well he has played.
 
This is what differnciate Pakistani batsmen from other young talents. This was on the card as he was doing strange things for last 3 overs. Apne jagga bana lou, team ki khair hai.
 
Unlucky. He's done well though. Now it's up to Rizwan to guide us to 320+.

This statement is problematic and proves why Babar is not fit enough to be Captain anymore.
 
One sweep too many needed more from saud we don't have much batting left after iftikhar

It was a unlucky top edge due to some extra bounce. Do you guys even understand what you're watching? This could have happened to anyone who likes playing the sweep shot.
 
Well he has no choice cant afford any more wickets...need to consolidate. There was some spin there so hopefully we need to use that when we bowl
 
Saud was double minded whether to play sweep or with a straight bat.
He's had a bit of reputation for soft dismissals though in the past
 
NL should bring on Van der Merwe now and bowl out with Dutt
 
Rizwan needs to bat through 50 0vers. If Pakistan get 300 here will be a miracle

Yh his biggest weakness is soft dismissals, it was a glaring issue in the test series as well.

Not right now but Haris and Saim should be in the team by the next Champions Trophy. Players get loads of experience by playing in T20 leagues these days. Neither are going to become test players so FC isn't necessary for them.

This was your time to get through your main spinners and bring down the run rate

Haris won’t, but there’s no reason why Saim Ayub can’t become a test player, he’s technically relatively sound
 
Iftikhar and Rizwan should try to go as deep as they can. Iftikhar can be lethal in last 7-8 overs so he should bat throughout the innings now.

Slowing down never works for us. I have seen this strategy fail a thousand times for Pakistani batters. Just continue the flow, why change the momentum after a personal milestone?

Lol what game are you watching? The last 3-4 overs he didn't look to play straight as he had done uptil that point of time. I mentioned this 2-3 times before he got out. All I want is a youngster (btw he isn't a youngster any more) to play for his team. He took the team out of the mess, well done to him. I praised him alot for that.

But then you have to carry that momentum and look for a big one. They just had a good example of that yesterday in Ravindra from NZ, only 23 years, playing his first WC game. That is professionalism which our players lack. Our players get's over-confidient after reaching 50. it's not first time I am seeing this. I have seen this since 1992. So I kind of know what I am talking about here.
 
With 6 wickets in hand, Pakistan should easily get past 300 here.

Agreed. Minimum 20 first class games before a batsman should be considered for selection. Same for bowlers too to be honest, they learn so much more about their game and how to set up a batsman by playing first class cricket

Relax, mistakes happen. Not true for folks like Babar, Imam. Also, Saud is averaging 90+ in test cricket. clearly not the one to throw it away
 
Biggest problem that will be pakistan's downfall on this cup is opening. Ironic how a few weeks ago we praised pakistan as having a world class top order lol

That's the problem, you don't. It isn't 1992 anymore. Saud was keeping the momentum by playing conventional and reverse sweeps, straight batted shots can only take you so far in the modern age.

Getting out is not a problem, especially with a set batter at the other end. Pakistan need 320 to feel comfortable here because the dew is going to make life tough for the bowlers.

This is star sports India production team handling the broadcast if I m not mistaken. They are the ones producing these pictures. Not blaming anyone just stating things as per my understanding.

Pakistan not out of the woods yet. Rizwan out at a critical stage.

Time for Shadab to stand up and do something. He has been failing in both aspects for quite long.

Maybe if he was English. Besides, I don't see him displacing Imam or Abdullah. He could come in as an all-rounder if he develops his bowling.
