Saud is playing great but let's not rewrite history. He was given opportunities before and he failed while Agha Salman performed better when he was given a chance.
 
Excellent innings by Saud, that too under pressure with utmost control. The kid has bright future.

There are enough spin options in ifty, nawaz and shadab, with about the same effectiveness

NO. Starsports gets the final feed. They have bought the global rights for final broadcast feed NOT for the broadcast production. Two separate things. As i said, not many people know how these things work and neither do they have the interest to know. Blaming india, bcci, starsports is easy so yeah.
 
Saud has been great but gotta give credit to Rizzy as well for steadying the ship and holding one end for Saud to play fearlessly on the other.
 
Saud low key bailed Pak out today.

Agha remains one of the better lower order batsmen we have. 40 average @ 96 SR is pretty fast for Pakistani batting standards. He probably does not fit in the system we have now, but we could ditch Nawaz and bring him in if we can split some overs from our part time spinners. Not like Nawaz is that great of a spinner anyway recently.
 
8th bowler by Netherlands.. maybe we'll see the Wicket Keeper take his gloves off and have a bowl as well.

Come on man. He is bits and pieces like other mates of mental midget Babar. Nawaz, shadow, imam etc.
 
Harsha’s pronunciation of Pakistani names is a treat to hear compared to other Indian commentators butchering the names despite being from the same region.

That was due to D string scoring. Also it doesn't help that games before this they kept playing saud at 6 to 7 lol.

Agha smacking D string NZ on Pindi pitches means nothing.

He's been useless ever since, Useless against afg, useless in Asia cup, useless in warmups.

I've seem the way he bats, just another bots and pieces loser who has convinced people he's a player just like shadab


Just a glance and you know sayd is superior, he hasn't slogged even once..proper cricketing strokes and striking.

Can Agha open? Can't do any worse than Fakhar (or even Imam) right now...
 
Where are the posters who were crying that Saud wouldn't be played? Crying and whining about something else, I bet.

Ideally, the openers would have been putting the Netherlands to sword by now but the middle order needed some big runs behind them so this isn't bad.

If opposition teams are smart, they will be choking Babar with spin as soon as he comes out to bat from now on.

Saud also failed in all of the ODI chances he was given before! He has been amazing since his come back into the One Day side but he wasn't exactly knocking the door down the last couple years. Seems like his amazing test form transferred to ODI.

Babar thinks Ayub is not ready for international cricket. I want to laugh at this. I would rather see Ayub playing and failing than out-of-form Fakhar continuing to look miserable

Shadab Babar's jigri should also not be part of the playing 11 but we know Babar is not dropping him for Usama Mir.
 
I am posting on PP after almost 4-5 years. First time seeing Saud Shakeel bat. Looks like a left handed version of Sachin Tendulkar. Great find Pakistan.
And Rizwan is best batsman in this line up. His temperament is second to none in this squad.
 
Brilliant innings under pressure by rizwan I ain’t given him the title of paks greatest w/k batsman for nothing.
 
Lol Saud didn't celebrate his 50 whereas Rizwan acts like he just score a 100

Why are you bothering with these 'fans'?

Saud is a miles better batsman than Agha Salman, this much we do not have any doubt over whatsoever. But Agha took his opportunities, while Saud could not. Now Saud is showing his full range, he is rightfully ahead of Agha in the starting XI.
 
Saud is the only batsmen who looks comfortable against spinners he showed that during sl test matches too. More on fakhar can we just drop that guy and play Mohammad Haris these are batting tracks he might give us quick start
 
What a gutsy batsman Rizwan is. Mentally the strongest player in this team.

The problem is the thought process - we always stumble upon the right player when everyone else fails. That’s where Babar cannot take credit for this
 
Babar and Saud will be the batting equivalent of the Wasim-Waqar rivalry, without the toxicity, hopefully. Saud hasn't played much but he's world class already.

Anyone who cries 'minnows' doesn't know cricket. The Netherlands bowled really well today. This is equivalent to a knock against any other full member.
 
I did say Saud will definitely play against Netherlands when everyone was complaining that Babar didn't give him a bat during the warm up against the Aussies...seems like Babar did need the batting practice more than Saud but probably not against the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner!

I'm from England and the broadcast has been terrible, they had double vision, then the on screen scoreboard disappeared and this supposedly "top 10 largest economy" couldn't even provide an electronic on ground scoreboard so they had two guys working on a 1800s scoreboard lol

This is a terrible advert for India at the moment.

The source of pressure on Babar is not the bowler but the intensity of a major tournament. Let him face Starc, Bumrah, Hazzlewood, Rashid in bilateral series or even dead rubber, he is different batter there.

Big hopes for Saud, if his clutch test innings are any indicator, he has the right tools for a successful international career.
 
Saud is so good. Every shot in the book. Having that reverse sweep is so crucial if you want to dominate the spinners.

Babar needs to work on developing both of his sweep shots. He will become a perfect batter once he has those.
 
Why Saud was benched in the Asia Cup? Our batting was miserable throughout the tournament but Agha kept on playing just because he could bowl 3 overs of spin.
 
Rotate strike, play your shots according to the gaps, take calculated risks when set. This is odi cricket , this is how Saud has played , I know it’s only NED but it’s been a masterclass so far.
 
Very important that Saud doesn’t throw away his wicket now. He has started with some fancy movements. Show true professionalism young lad.
 
Saud's running needs work. Especially if he's going to be partnering Rizwan.

This is what I've been saying over and over.

Rizzu is a platform builder like Joe root is. If England is smashing with their openers and strike like 200 in 30, then you bring in Butler or Brooks in that situation. Root only if openers depart quickly or by the 15th.

Rizzu ruins platforms established if the openers do well which he has. But he's excellent at building platforms and steadying the ship. I've seen rizzu play.

He does best when he enters by the 7th to 15th. Anytime after he struggles or just plays a match losing knock.

He's a good player but middle order isn't for him, as for the whole wicket keeper rest thing, Sangakara, Gilchrist, even Dhoni in his early years did fine. I'm sure rizzu will be okay.

I used to admire Gambhir as an analyst until he predicted Babar Azam to be top scorer in the Cup
 
The first 10 overs by NL were critical IMO

Realistically Pakistan will just about reach a par total because of it. They are slowing down once again

Because Shadab wasn't performing with both bat and bowl but couldn't be dropped so was Agha was the backup...
 
Come on Saud! Don’t be tha typical Pakistani batsman yaar. Just play like Ravindra did yesterday.
 
Time for both of them to go up one gear once there’s only 20 overs left.

350+ is on and we have batting firepower to come.
