ICC World Cup 2023: South Africa (311/7) inflict a massive 134-run defeat over Australia (177 all out)

All that hard work undone by the awful fielding....come back Rahat, all us forgiven!

Absolutely no excuse. No light issue. No distractions. They had enough time to take the catch each one of them

Yess!! Knew this overrated guy Miller is bad vs pace and bounce. Same as klassen. Nothing special cricketers.

Australia is still gelling. They rarely play together these days in a one dayer. But if they really gel together they will become a force again. Whoever faces them in the back end will feel the pinch.

Not sure about this score. Seems low tbh. Only way south Africa can win is if they put AUS under pressure by taking early wickets.

Very poor finish by South Africa still I think they can win this match .this is slow pitch not a patta

According to you Indian batsman are mentally weak and miller, Klassan is weak against pace and bounce all are nothing player, Who's special then🤣🤣🤣? Don't say that Imam Ul haq and Babar Azam

Travis Head/marsh
Marsh/warner
Warner/labu
Smith
Stoinis/green
Maxwell
Carey
 abbott
Zampa
hazlewood
Starc

Aus should drop Cummins and go with abbot at 8. Cummins isn't that good in odi

Indian batsmen have been mentally weak since 2013. They lost every ko. That is a fact. No one can refute that. If Indian fans disagree then they should get their heads checked. May change this year. They look stronger than ever.

Klassen is trash against anyone who bowls pace and bounce. Have seen it enough times. Happened again.

Same with Miller. Only flat track bully vs mediocre spin and trundlers.
He can't even play wristies If they are proper turners of the ball.

Watson takes a very subtle dig at Cummins uage of bowlers. Starc is not going to finish his spell here while Josh might finish
That was pathetic, this childish miscalculation just proves what I have been saying, the dude becomes a deer in headlights whenever pump is on. So Starc finishes with <6 rpo & the dude spray guns 8 rpo with same number of overs! Just imagine if Starc was allowed to finish his quota, SA probably wouldn't even have managed 300 altogether.

This is the problem with bowling captains. Only one great bowling captain existed and it was imran khan.

Even in 2011 world cup. 300s were hunted down. india couldn't defend 300 plus against SA. England tied with india chasing 338. England lost to Ireland while defending 320 plus. So i don't see any issues Australia hunting down with a lengthy batting line up like this. Australia will be kicking themselves if they fail to chase down.

Competitive total on a two paced wicket. No one looked set. Having said that South Africa should feel 20 runs short of a dominant total from where we was.

Spiners will be key here. How Australia handle Maharaj will be decisive. There's definitely something for the bowlers on this wicket.

(Starc is a GREAT bowler in ODI's btw)

Ok sir, pls enlighten who is your special player? india played 2014 T20wc final and semi-final in 2016 To get in final and semi-final have to win a few kO matches aswell ,2017 championship trophy semifinal also they won.
They lost 2019 Wc semifinal more because rain helped NZ still it was close match.
But agree that they should have won a few ICC Titles, Mentally weak player Don't win a test series in Australia after getting all out in 36. I want to see how many mentally tougher player around today in world who helped their team to win even single test in Australia when you find answer of it let us know.

If you fellas had nortje may have been tough for Aussies. Without him bowling seems weak.

Why was coetze not picked over ngidi?

Oh no. Indian test team is excellent. World class team. I have no issues in accepting that. That whole wtc concept is a farce. India was the number 1 team for 4 or 5 years. They won away in aus and drew in England etc. They are phenomenal in tests. One off tests don't matter and it's a rubbish concept.

My issue with them is winning tournaments in white ball. They have been poor in Ko stages both in semis and finals. They could have won 2 or 3 titles with better application but failed under pressure.

To me Aussies in white ball are the best ever. Always ice cool under pressure.

Starc showing how it's done to his captain clueless. He may have lost pace due to age & years of fatigue, but when it comes to clinical odi fast bowling he is still the undisputed final boss, the real alpha male. Maybe he indeed is the goat wc performer even though I still favor Mcgrath.

Tough one. McGrath played with Warne and had guys like punter gilly and Haydos.

Starcy dint have a spinner like Warne to support him but he did have a wc bowler in hazlewood and Mitch Johnson last time in 2015. It's really close but my brain also says McGrath.

McGrath was too accurate and metronimcal. But starc is like a hair length under him.

Looking at squad strength, i feel 2015 Aussie team was the most complete and balanced team I have ever come across for flat pitches. Only missing a great spinner.

No one can match McGrath, He was the only bowler I have ever seen who dominated all of his era's legend batsman ,Lara was literally His Bunny. The greatest fast bowler of all time.

I don't think you can get away on this ground with kuasal perrera type pick up shots. Slightly larger fielding area.

We don't lack strike bowlers, so Anrich Nortje won't be missed that much as he can be expensive too. What we lack is a controller to keep the rate down (besides spinners). As for Coetzee he isn't better than Ngidi in any shape or form at this stage

Ngidi bowling pace. He usually operates at lower speeds. So far it's between 138 to 142.

Powerplay is very crucial for Australia to chase this total as it's get very hard to score with old ball

This is the weakest SA fast bowling I have ever witnessesed in a tournament. It's shocking, as we were always used to seeing domination from SA fast bowlers. Not a single one of this guy gives me any hope. Nortje will be sorely missed. Rabada himself has probably forgotten when was the last time he used be a deadly loi bowler, Lungi is a pure trundler in such conditions. On top of that Bavuma either took inspiration from Imam or dreamt about Gavaskar/Boycott & played a tuktuk masterclass which caused SA those 20 runs you mentioned. I would say it's Australia's match to lose.

Australia should see how the pitch behaves before exploding. Throwing away wickets at this juncture will add more pressure to Smith and Labu who are still in test match mode

Swing on offer, unfortunately we're not consistent enough to exploit, I would imagine. It won't last long either, so use it or lose it!

It is very hard even for locals to predict how the pitch will behave as they have relaid all the surfaces.

I said on the context of odi wc only. On the whole Mcgrath is untouchable, Starc doesn't come near to him. Only Akram can be debated to be as good as Mcgrath was (in odi's).

How come lyon doesn’t play odis

He did play. But didn't shine. With 4 fielder restriction even guys like Ashwin are out of the picture. May be for INdian pitches he would have been an option. He said he is available for world cup if needed

Australia is so far doing the right thing. Just seeing off this passage. You can easily make up in the next 10 overs.
