Lol nobody cares who beat England, just as long as they were beaten! We've all had to endure a years worth of unwarranted gloating, which was worse, so what's a few bumped threads to point and laugh at their cockiness? :))

Aye!

I will answer this later this year.BCCI has scheduled the matches across the length and breadth of India, from hot sultry south to freezing Dharamshala. And expect square turners.Lots of fun to be have with the POMS.

Unwarranted? We were the #1 side in Test cricket!

Just wait til this lot turns on you guys after you stuff them.

I've saved some special threads to be bumped in my favorites for then!

You don't gloat and tell your opponents to go home once you start beating em. I mean who does that?

I'll be here to say well played to whoever beats us. Heck it may be in the very next tour to Aus.

The difference is that we don't have Bothams claiming a decade of dominance, or Dobells claiming one of the top 5 teams of all time, or Husseins calling people donkeys, or Athertons claiming that a well deserved victory by the opponent was an aberration, or or or....

Quite the chip you've got there on your shoulder, no one's forcing you to listen to/read what that lot have to say.

You questioned whether the gloating was unwarranted, I provided a few examples to show that it was! :) I do like to follow cricket from around the world in general, so it is a little irritating to have these types of statements being thrown in your face when you're looking for objective pieces.

All I need is the Chuck Fleetwood-Smiths' analysis of Test matches involving England. :p

I was kind of surprised with everyone having a laugh at them for so long but recent thread bumps reminded me of so much nonsense spouted by players/media/commentators. As much I like a stronger English team, it gets tiring to hear comparison with great teams when hardly anyone except KP was anywhere close to that class.

I think it was due to England having a good team after so many decades. Commentators and current/past players made many over the top statements because this new found success was so rare in their recent history. I think next time they will be think twice before giving these BS statements.

Anyway, we should give it a break. One thread bump in a day is enough but then it might stretch for a month or so.

Jo_Don's and SempreSami's avatars look apt in this discussion. One with a nation rejoicing her victory, the other of a pissed off old man, about to have an outburst! :)

England can't even go home now, can they?

The comparison is not relevant.

Bresnan was not gloating. He was talking about the appalling attitude of the Indian team, who didn't even look to be trying. He was voicing the sentiments of the English cricket-watching public who felt cheated by what they had paid good money to watch. India's own fans must surely have had similar feelings.

By contrast, nobody felt cheated this summer. We hosted a West Indies team who gave their all, and a South African side who proved to be better than us. I don't think anyone would accuse the England team this summer of looking as if they weren't trying.

Still a statement that meant nothing. Did Big Tim really expect/wish for India to pack up and catch the first flight out to Bombay?

If I were in his position, I wouldn't have said a thing. Half centuries when I went out to bat, five wicket hauls when I had the ball - the last thing I'd want is for the opposition to go home!

Tim Bresnan has refuted allegations he made racist comments towards former Yorkshire teammate Azeem Rafiq.

Rafiq spoke before a parliamentary select committee from the department for media, culture and sport on Monday where he detailed alleged racist abuse during his time at Yorkshire.

Among those accused was Bresnan, with Rafiq claiming in his witness statement that the former England bowler had 'frequently made racist comments'.

Rafiq also claimed he was one of 'six or seven' players to have made a bullying complaint against Bresnan due to his alleged behaviour.

Bresnan issued an apology to Rafiq over the bullying claims, but 'categorically denies' making racist comments.

In a statement, Bresnan said: "I have been made aware of the bullying claims made against me and have listened to Azeem Rafiq's account of his time at Yorkshire CCC today with great distress, as I'm sure everyone will have done.

"For any part I played in contributing to Azeem Rafiq's experience of feeling bullied at Yorkshire, I apologise unreservedly.

"Following the publication of Azeem's witness statement from the employment tribunal, which I saw for the first time this afternoon, I must though categorically deny his accusation that I 'frequently made racist comments'.

"This is absolutely not true."
