Imad Wasim at the post-match presentation today:

Some of the shots the guys played were not on in those situations

But obviously if you are not learning after so much cricket then you cant do anything about that

The way Abid Ali played , that hundred was unbelievable as was the one from Rizwan so these are positives from series

I think Yasir Shah bowled brilliantly, and Hasnain at the death bowled really nicely so our bowling unit is absolutely fine

But, again at the end we gave away 25-30 runs which we shouldnt have

Its an honour leading Pakistan and I really enjoy captaincy so it was a great feeling and a great privilege for me
 
Always with the 20-30 extra runs when we choke during run chase.

And 20-30 less runs, when we choke while bowling and can't get them out.

It was totally chaseable and this should have been chased irrespective of 20-30 extra runs.
 
He has every right to be miffed at Umar.

Last recognized batsmen and only thing he has to do is play out the last 8 overs, and Pakistan will be home and dry.

And he slogs to "cow corner".

And they believe he will fire in England.

Insane.
 
Umar Akmal should never have been recalled so I am not surprised by his poor performance. What a joke of a player. Hopefully he will now be dropped for good.

But he is an all rounder, and he bowls well as well and his record overall in batting has been good over the last many matches.

And if he was left in the oblivion like Umar for repeated brain fades, I am sure he would come back and NOT repeat the same things.

I am sure you are BURNING at Umar being targeted, but today he was a big culprit in doing what he does best.

A well deserved dig at Akmal you think he surely cant get out the same way next time he does again and again other batsmen might not be better but if a player isn't fulfilling his potential he shouldn't be selected.

When he walked in, shots needed to be played.

When Akmal walked in, singles and twos and the odd boundary was all that was needed. Not a stupid heave to cow corner 10 minutes in. Glad it happened though, would've been shocked to see him in the WC squad.
 
Imad getting too big for his boots. Guys literally a nothing player. Imad would be blasted into oblivion in the IPL. Minnow level bowler and nothing batsman
 
Imad himself is a nothing player.

He doesnt pick up wickets and he cant even contain runs.


His batting is always of scoring 20-300ish runs and thats it.

Same is the case with Sarfraz and Same is the case with Malik

You got 3 guys scorin 20-30 runs coming in at crucial periods. The batting has become a joke.
 
Spot on about Akmal but this is coming from someone who himself is a huge bottler!🤦

He certainly hasn't got the performances to be taking a dig at the other players.Even though Umar Akmal deserves to be called out for his senseless performances but Imad is certainly not the person to be doing it.

Before assuming how I'm feeling, make the effort of reading my posts on the other threads.

Imad's comment was specific to the performance in this game and while he's right in what he said, he didn't fare any better, especially while also shouldering the responsibilities of a captain.

He came in no fracking urgency just trying and failing to take singles even saad Ali complete joke should have been pushing for single every ball so lack luster and I frickin hate players celebrating without team winning should ban it. Unless team wins no celebrating otherwise fine them. Pak got relaxed and through game away. Last 9 overs such a joke cant make it up

Finishing is an art and it is not solely about the ability to hit sixes.
 
well hes right The guys been playing at the top level for 10 years Surely he should know how to close the game at a run a ball and not slog out to cow corner

Clearly not happy. This is is a guy who is a senior now. So if he is thinking this , i wonder what other players are thinking.

Well he is the kaptaan now i guess
And in Pakistan that gives you a right to call out other non performers when infact according to your performances you wouldn't even be a contender to walk into the big 5 teams.
 
Imad has this attitude where he actually believes he's the **** and a great player. Imad adds absolutely no value to the team, don't need his overs if he takes uo a proper spinners spot like Zafar Gohar or Umer Khan, definetely his batting is no better he has always been a hack, swing hard hope for the best. He should not be bringing up other players until he learns how to spin the damn ball.
 
He did not take Umar's name and his statement could still have been a generic one.
 
It kind of makes absolute sense to single out Akmal and put the entire blame on him. In fact, him and Malik are the two biggest reasons why Pakistan haven't posted scores beyond 300, or failed to chase totals.

Combined experience of 400 ODIs and you're still not good enough to boss the game - exposes the mediocrity that we have been carrying in the team for a decade. The only job Akmal had was to stay with Rizwan, and he couldn't do that too. How many times has he been out on the boundary at mid-wicket?
 
I think his statement is regarding Umar Akmal, however the same applies to himself as well.

This presentation showed me he is not a captaincy material for future and will have problems with players in future. Might discard them on his personal dislike. I think he will have a hard time managing players.

Btw Payya ji this is your first match as captain where your own performance was awful and you are taking digs at others?
 
I like Imad but he needs to protect his players in all situations rather than have a dig at them. This is a poor comment no matter how true it is.

Poor comment. Pretty sure is a dig at umar akmal, if he'd said something like seniors take responsibility then fine it probably look like he was taking blame for it too. But saying not learning after so many games separates him. Imad might be 30, but he's only played 74 games and half of those being t20s. Umar on the other hand has played over 200 with 120 of them being ODIs.

Don't think he'd dare make these comments about Hafeez, Malik or Sarfraz. Umar's just an easy punching bag. But to be fair when your own coach does exactly the same thing hanging out his players to dry, can you really be surprised when the substitute captain does the same?

You need to back your team mates, don't single them out or play the blame game.
 
UA deserves whatever comes his way. He is an awful batsman. He has a brain of a 12 year old.
 
Player with the most caps for his country after Malik with over 200 caps yet imad preferred as captaincy choice, then to come out and suggest such comments, do show power hunting tactics and sheepish character by commend made by this ronaldo wanna be.

Akmal has won n will win more games than he ever will. Akmal tried to take the game away from Australia, we needed quick cameo by him which was near impossible on such a ground, he didn't succeed coming in at number 5. Number for who was there till end and then two batsmen yet to arrive 40 odd to get was just a joke.

Putting Akmal in a team full of gully cricketers is the biggest crime done by a national selection committee in a long time. All I
Can smell is Arthur conspiracy behind this to oust the Akmal name once and for all.
 
Time for Akmal fans to come out and remind us how Akmal once played a brilliant inning against Bond 10 years ago. Doesn’t matter how garbage he has been since then.

Akmal deserves this humiliation.
 
Interesting comment and definitely one aimed at the experienced player(s) who repeatedly fail when the team needs them most.

The way Haris Sohail played was fantastic, scoring 2 hundreds in four games

He worked very hard on his fitness and game and it really paid off, plus Shan also played well so it’s a good effort

No matter what how players are playing, 5-0 is a bad loss but we have to have our chin-up because we have a big series coming up against England and then the World Cup

We are going to get together, sit down and we have some work to do and we will do it

We will work on basics such as fielding and fitness

We will sit down and work on how to play a 50-over game; we will be working on playing attacking cricket

All the teams in the world are playing attacking cricket so we should also take the initiative and play attacking cricket

After 17 years of struggle, Abid Ali showed his class in the last game and then Haris Sohail played exceptionally well, and so did Mohammad Rizwan

If they continue to play like that then they will be superstars of the future

No matter who we are playing we need to show our A game

This is a big loss for us but we will come back hard in the next series

Regardless of the results. I actually liked Imad Wasim the captain, i believe the PCB missed a trick in appointing Malik. Malik was clearly not interested or hungry. Imad on the other hand looked a lot more hungry in the role, i can see a future captain in him already.
