Imam (90*) & Shafique (89*) take Pakistan to 181/0 at Stumps on Day 2 in reply to England's 657

The good thing is it is not an empty ground, there is sizeable number of crowd in stadium & it matters a lot because these Westerners get easily bored if there is no spectator.
If someone gets into bbc tms, there are 50,000 plus viewers checking scores & commenting.
 
We cant bat like England - nor should we when we are massively behind.

Englands batting left some mental scars on us. The best we can do is leave some physical scars on them by making them toil away for 3 days.

That's our only hope for the series.
 
Shafique playing as classy as ever with Imam a bit edgy, and then we will have the Azhar to follow who will play on the pitch as if its a minefield.
 
I don’t think Jacks brings much. I would have given young Rehan a run, see how he copes.

In an ideal world, our batters would fight fire with fire and pound this average bowling attack into the ground on wickets they have grown up playing. The pitch is a joke and there is nothing for the bowlers whatsoever.

What Pakistan will do is allow the bowlers to bowl to them, score at 2.5 RPO and bore everyone to death.

You know that pitch is a road if Pakistan are going at 3.2 runs per over [MENTION=4795]amjid[/MENTION]_javid
 
Bat for two days and get atleast 650 score and then knowing the way eng bat there might be chance that they get out while trying too much and we might even have a result if Pakistan plays at a good pace

I get that but on a pitch where the other team batted at a RR for 6+ for 100 odd overs, you can atleast try to go at 4.5. There are zero demons in this pitch right now. I don't get the logic behind batting at 3 RPO.
 
Yawn 🥱 I fear broadcasters like Sony who are broadcasting these series' in India will stop doing so if we see such crap games. Huge loss making for them as no one will watch this game.
 
Batted Pakistan. They are playing this just right. Save the match, and wear out the England bowlers (and Pope).

Look at how meticulously England our looking after the ball to get it to reverse. Yesterday Zahid was getting his palms all over the ball.

We teach everyone else and our current dumb team are the only ones not paying attention

That’s not accurate. Robinson has performed very well overseas, Anderson too in several countries, and Leach has an overseas tenfer.

England is bowling part-timers for long spells, so Pakistan batting has to be next level atrocious to get out to these pie-chuckers.

England have T20 batters in this test team, Pakistan have 80s style batsmen so they can only play to their strength.

Their part time bowlers, though Leach is by no means a part timer, are more likely to take wickets than their front line bowlers.
 
Same old defensive batting. Our batsmen are way to inferior compare to English players. No wonder Babar and Yesman want flat pitch to save face. England will outplayed us either spinning, sporting or fast bowling pitch. Not sure we can even save this match considering we will bat in 4th innings.
 
Good batting by Pakistan openers .just carry on, no need to play aggressive cricket and grind them to dust .this is a road so Pakistan can score 700 runs easily

It can be possible only if we bat all the remaining days. We can score around 200 in 75 overs.
 
It's a dream come true watching James Anderson bowl in Pakistan though its dreadful bowling at this wicket

I hope Anderson gives his name for PSL
 
Just checked score card and England only batted 101 overs. That's very poor from them.. Now Pak can win this game if they able to bat 200+ overs ..

They don't need to bat fast.. just bat 200+ overs, runs will come and it's Pak game to lose..
 
In terms of excitement and thrill, this is a pretty low quality match that we are witnessing.

Hope next game has a bit more spice for pacers and spinners so we get to see the 300-400 games rather than this dull boring batting on a flat wicket.
 
Ben Stokes with lot of short stuff but played well by both
 
I think days of Stokes being a true all rounder are long gone now. He is more of a part time bowler now due to nature of his injuries.

Venues in Pakistan are terrible for Test cricket. If you want a decent chance of a result on such flat pitches, you need to have 90 overs a day.
 
This is why test matches can be terribly boring if not played on sportive wickets or even when they are heavily one sided like the one we are seeing in Australia.
 
This is masterful batting.

Can’t take credit away from Pakistan if we have given England credit for their batting.

Much work to be done but this is the perfect response so far. Good run rate too.

If Pakistan had batted first, we would be singing their praises non stop.

The pitch is great for batting for both teams.
 
Anyone failing on this pitch with bat must be crying themselves to sleep.

Why can't Pakistan start test matches at 9 AM this time of the year?

Makes no sense starting test matches at 10 AM when you know you are going to lose overs. Make the obvious change and have very early starts to ensure 450 overs in a match.
