Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi freed after nearly 9 months following bail in new Toshakhana case [Update @ Post#413]

Thread has nothing to do with India!

Unfortunately, this is the problem when outsiders think they have a greater understanding of Pakistan's issues than they actually do.

what is under question is his the matter in between his ears.

His ability to assess the situation is high questionable.

1) economy: Won't go to IMF. Thw whole world knew IMF was Pakistan's only option

When IK made the statement the financial situation was different compared to when he got elected. Having access to government data changes things, doesn't it?

2) Ummah Welfare: Pleads ignorance about Xinjiang

What does "Ummah" have to do with becoming a welfare state? Pakistan has been China's ally for a long time.

3) screwed up CPEC with poor communication

One second you're criticizing IK for having relations with China, the next second you're criticizing IK for not having good enough relations with China, make up your mind already.

Regarding your claim.

“The previous government did a bad job negotiating with China on CPEC — they didn’t do their homework correctly and didn’t negotiate correctly so they gave away a lot,” Abdul Razak Dawood, the Pakistani member of cabinet responsible for commerce, textiles, industry and investment, told the Financial Times.

“Chinese companies received tax breaks, many breaks and have an undue advantage in Pakistan; this is one of the things we’re looking at because it’s not fair that Pakistan companies should be disadvantaged,” he said.

Why's PTI looking out for Pakistan's best interests a bad thing? You wanted them to go on with the unstable projects just for the sake of it?

Do you even have a source for the "bad communication" claim?

4) Pissed off Pakistans biggest benefactor: US

Again, if a country is "pissed off" by Pakistan looking out for its best interests then it's no problem. The US's primary problem with IK was that he wanted to sign trade agreements with Russia, why would the common Pakistanis be mad at IK for that?

Do you have a problem with Pakistan having a Pakistan-first policy?

5) pissed of his biggest benefactor: Establishment

PTI has been the most popular party in Pakistan since 2017, they don't need the establishment to win elections. All they need is for the establishment to not rig elections in favor of the other parties.

If the establishment got spooked by the US then so be it. IK did the right thing by not bowing down.

6) completely missed what is supporters are willing to do

what can he assess correctly?

What's with this gobble? How can he control his supporters if he is behind bars? A you calling for a revolution or are calling for them to not do anything at all? Both of these demands would sound silly if an outsider recommended them.

None of what you wrote can be reasonably used against Imran Khan or PTI, in fact, it only shows their strengths, like independent foreign policy and their willingness to put Pakistan first.

Fact of the matter is none of the elections in Pakistan have been legit. They are always manipulated and doctored and rigged. From more recent history the number of times PPP and Pamal have formed governments like a game of musical chairs one after another is basically an evidence to it that the army uses and dumps, rinse and repeats these parties to meet their own goals.

So no one party has truly ever had the mandate for various reasons but the army being the biggest one. One could say in 2018 army interfered to make imran form the government but also to make sure he didn’t get 2/3 majority.

But ne thing is for sure.. he is the onlyone who has stood up to them and if army wasn’t scared of his huge mandate, they would have held the elections a long time ago.

I don't think there is any legitimate answer to this.

As pointed out this decision by the contemporray God's has thrown out all Islamic and even secular principles into the bin. Establishment have taken PK to a place so low that even 2 years ago no one thought it could go. I am sure that it will end in IKs death( they have tried a few times but missed) but they don't care as long as they keep their wealth.

This summarizes everything what happened this week but have to say Imran Khan has shown that he is man of steel against those in power despite all the state machinery horrendously working against him and his party.
First they kept trying breaking him down physically , no success , now torturing him mentally by bringing his personal life in public in a futile attempt to humiliate him and his wife , but as you said , IK is not another man , he is a man of steal in real sense , sooner the army realize it, better.

Many PTI politicians resisted the physical torture and pressure but when the army shamelessly dragged their family into it , many gave away . Again , IK is different.

Next they tell is that they will attack his sisters. All this in a desperate attempt to get IK to give an NRO for the kidnappings, torture, murder, sexual assault and smashing the constitution. Munir, Nadeem and NS will face their say on a noose.

does this include 2018?

IK was selected in 2018?

SO establishment giveth and establishment taketh away?

nevermind.

Unless there is massive impetus able to overcome establishments hold on economy, domestic and foreign policy, all these dsicussions are academic.

Bushra Bibi moves IHC against Bani Gala sub-jail notification

Former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the notification declaring Banigala as sub-jail in the Toshakhana case verdict.

The complainant pleaded with the court to transfer her to Adiala Jail as per the original order of the Toshakhana case.

Request to annul the notification of the January 31 of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration to declare Bani Gala as a sub-jail.

On December 2023, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued a final call-up notice to Bushra Bibi, former prime minister Imran Khan's wife, summoning her to appear before the Rawalpindi office in Islamabad on December 11 in connection with the Toshakhana case.

The notice alleges that during Imran Khan's tenure as prime minister, Bushra Bibi received and retained gifts from foreign dignitaries worth millions of rupees, violating established procedures for handling such gifts.

According to NAB, she kept a locket with a chain, a pair of earrings, two rings, and a pair of bracelets in 2019.

In 2020, she retained a necklace, a bracelet, a ring, and a pair of earrings.

In 2021, she received a necklace with a chain, a pair of earrings, a ring, and a wristwatch, which she allegedly failed to deposit in the Toshakhana as required by law.

The anti-graft body has requested Bushra Bibi to appear before them along with the aforementioned items to answer questions and provide clarifications regarding the matter.

Who is Bushra Bibi?

Bibi is reportedly the first niqab-wearing spouse of a Pakistani Prime Minister. Shortly after Khan took office, Bibi was quoted by the media as being "afraid" and commented "I am sure Imran Khan will fulfill his promises to Pakistan. Allah has given us a great responsibility. Power comes and goes. Imran Khan aims to eliminate poverty from the country. He wants to improve the health and education system in Pakistan."

Bibi has described Imran as an ‘extremely simple man.

Talking about the PTI's slogan and promise of "change", she claimed that only Imran can bring about the promised change in the country but it would take time.

The residence of Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has been declared a sub-jail and his wife Bushra Bibi has been shifted to Bani Gala under tight security after the accountability court sentenced her to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana reference.

A notification has also been issued to declare Bani Gala as a sub-jail for former first lady Bushra Bibi and the prison staff has also been posted in Bani Gala.

Earlier today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Biba were sentenced to 14 years in jail by the Accountability Court judge Muhammad Bashir in the Toshakhana case.

Similarly, Bushra Bibi, after her conviction in the Toshakhana reference, has been transferred to Bani Gala, with the area itself now classified as a sub-jail. The presence of prison staff in Bani Gala reinforces the security measures surrounding Bushra Bibi's confinement.

For someone who rants so much about Islam and Madina Riyasat, Imran should have known the Iddat rule.

Whether Imran made mistakes or not, all these cases and court verdicts look very bad. Things like these happen in a dictatorial regime. The so-called establishment is just oppressing the Pakistani people.

Just like every other PM of Pak. if he was as smart as you say he is, he would known his approach for the last 3 months was never going to work. Working within system means that accepting the bumps on the road, like having to to sit in opposition.
@Stewie can you imagine the situation if IK had accepted the VONC and given along enough rope for PDM and establishment to hang themselves. enormous political fumble if you ask me.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) fixed a plea filed by former first lady Bushra Bibi, seeking her transfer to Adiala prison from Banigala, the sub-jail for hearing on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

The IHC bench comprising Justice Gul Hassan Aurangzaib would hear the plea filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s wife who is serving her jail term in Toshakhana and ‘un-Islamic’ Nikah cases.

Bushra Bibi in her plea requested the court to nullify the notification of declaring Bani Gala, sub-jail and order her shift to Adiala Jail from the sub-jail.

Speaking to ARY News, Maryam Riaz Wattoo claimed that Bushra Bibi could not eat anything for the last six days. “My sister’s condition is still unwell. She is in pain and has not been able to eat anything for the past six days,” the sister of the former first lady said.

She accused that Bushra Bibi was ‘given’ harmful food at Adiala jail, adding that home food is not allowed for the former first lady.

PTI raises concerns on report of Bushra Bibi’s ill health at Banigala

The PTI raised concerns on Thursday upon a report surfacing about a deterioration in the health of party founder Imran Khan’s spouse, Bushra Bibi, and called for her urgent medical inspection.

Bushra Bibi is currently incarcerated in the couple’s Banigala residence, which was declared a sub-jail for her, after their conviction and sentencing in the Toshakhana case.

Earlier today, Bushra Bibi spokesperson and PTI lawyer Mashal Yousufzai posted on social media platform X that the former first lady met her family, Imran’s sister and the PTI legal team.

“Bushra Bibi has made a horrifying revelation today that she has been given something like acid in her food, which has caused her immense pain for the past five days.

“She said it feels like her stomach is on fire, and she has severe sores in her mouth and throat, making it difficult for her to eat anything except dry toast dipped in tea or water. She was in severe agony.,” Yousufzai said.

She warned that there was a “serious threat” to Bushra Bibi’s life and urged that she be medically inspected as soon as possible.

In a separate post on X, PTI’s official handle said the “fascist regime” had stooped so low that it resorted to “maliciously attacking” Imran’s wife and denying her medical aid.

“Make no mistake, it will not be long before the people responsible for these heinous acts will be brought to justice,” the post added. “Pakistan stands strong. Imran Khan stands strong.”

The party also called on the higher courts to intervene in the matter.

PTI Senator Faisal Javed called on the party’s core committee to take notice of the matter.

Meanwhile, PTI social media head Jibran Ilyas said it was extremely worrying that Bushra Bibi was given something to eat that adversely affected her health.

“Full medical checkup has been demanded,” he added. “Mandate thieves need to respect women of our country and not stoop to the point of no return.”

Bushra Bibi’s Banigala stay

Imran and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana reference last month on charges of retaining expensive jewellery after paying a nominal price. Two days later, the two were also convicted and given a seven-year sentence for “contracting marriage during the ‘Iddat’ (period of waiting)”.

While the PTI founder has remained incarcerated at Adiala Jail, the government, in a late-night notification on January 31, turned Imran’s Banigala residence into a sub-jail for Bushra at the request of the jail superintendent.

The Islamabad police were also informed about deployment outside the sub-jail and directed to ensure the security of the convict, while prison officials would be deployed inside the sub-jail.

Subsequently, speculations started making rounds about an alleged deal which resulted in Bushra’s imprisonment at the Banigala residence. However, speaking to the media on Feb 1, Imran vehemently denied the rumours and said: “We do not want any deal”.

Meanwhile, Bushra had claimed that the military establishment had contacted her indirectly, but the initial dialogue was termed “futile”. She added that she avoided further contact with them.

Later on Feb 6, Bushra Bibi approached the Islamabad High Court against the notification declaring her Banigala residence a sub-jail and pleaded that she be moved to Adiala Jail.

Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi challenged their respective sentences on Friday in the Toshakhana and cypher cases.

The appeals argue that both Imran and Bushra were subjected to a sham trial, where the courts not only proceeded unfairly and hastily but also ignored their fundamental right to a fair trial and due process.

The lead counsel, Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, filed two appeals, writ petitions, and applications, challenging the orders passed by the special judge and NAB during the jail trials of the Toshkhana and cypher cases.

Barrister Zafar has contended that the ex-premier and his wife have been erroneously convicted and sentenced by the accountability court and the special judge. The appeal further argued that their freedom and liberty have been curtailed, blatantly violating their fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973. The evidence presented against them is deficient in every manner and fails to connect them with the alleged charges.

The filings further point out that, while passing their respective judgments, both the NAB authorities and the special judge have caused grave injustice to the aggrieved. Firstly, their trials in both cases were concluded within two to three weeks. Secondly, despite the IHC's directive for an open trial, the public, media, etc, were not allowed to witness the trial freely.

Instead, proceedings were carried out secretly, changing courtrooms without informing the aggrieved and their counsels. Thirdly, the judgments are deemed illegal and unconstitutional as the rights of Imran Khan and his wife to a fair trial under Article 10A of the Constitution were infringed when their trials were rushed, seemingly timed to conclude before the general elections on Feb 8.

Furthermore, Barrister Zafar argued that during the jail trials, both Imran Khan and his wife were not allowed to produce evidence in defence. Their right to cross-examine prosecution witnesses, including the instrumental witness Mr Azam Khan, was illegally closed. Their lawyers were unlawfully replaced with court-appointed state counsels, picked from the prosecution team. Similarly, the Section 342 Cr. PC. statement of Imran was not recorded, and his lawyers were not allowed to present concluding arguments.

The filings pray for setting aside the judgments passed by the NAB authorities and special judge in the jail trials of Toshakhana and cypher cases, acquitting them from charges, and suspending their sentence and conviction.

I think positive results will come out of this petition if both of them are innocent.

I was actually asking about Farah Gogi.
We had all this tripe for years that she control of Buzdar as part of Bushra and together they minted it. So surely Buzdar would have been prosecuted 1st and she would have be nailed. So point me to his prosecution.

That's something else, first, there is a need to understand who she is and why she was involved in money laundering. Why didn't Imran Khan catch her? Then, we can talk about the mysterious Buzdar.

Investigators claim that 240 kanals of land were transferred to Farah as a bribe, and she allegedly took advantage of the tax amnesty scheme. Additionally, she is accused of amassing Rs489 million through postings, transfers, and awarding government contracts to her favored individuals.

Here's a report from The Express Tribune regarding her corruption:

The disclosed assets of Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Gogi, reportedly a front person of former prime minister Imran Khan, allegedly rose by Rs4.52 billion from 2017 to 2020, the Express News reported on Thursday, pointing to massive corruption by a close friend of Imran and his wife.

According to the report, Gogi had admitted owning assets of Rs950 million in 2020, but her declared assets grew by 420% during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government led by Imran Khan. The report further alleged that she also owned undeclared assets worth Rs3.82 billion.

The report claimed that those assets were the personal property of Gogi, while the assets of her husband Ahsan Jameel Gujjar and other relatives and shareholders were separate. It cited the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) records showing Gogi as director in several companies.

According to the records, The Express News report said, on December 3, 2019, UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) returned £190 million to the then PTI government in an out-of-court settlement with a property tycoon and Gogi got 240 kanals of land from that property tycoon on July 19, 2021.

This valuable land was transferred to Farah Gogi, the front-person, as a bribe. And in return for this bribe, the PTI government avoided pursuing a case for damages of Rs460 billion.

The report continued to say that Gogi took full advantage of the tax amnesty scheme announced in 2018 and with the support of the PTI chairman she availed the scheme and regularised Rs489 million in black money collected through bribes for various postings and transfers, and government contracts.

Providing details of the alleged assets of Gogi, the report mentioned agricultural land in Bahawalpur and Gujranwala, residential and commercial properties in Islamabad and Lahore and 200 kanals of agricultural land in Chakri.

Investigations further showed, according to Express News, Gogi was also involved in crimes like money laundering. It added that she and her husband continued to work in UK as fake doctors and as director in the Goldstar Euro (Pvt) Ltd.

The report said that the Goldstar Euro (Pvt) Ltd had turned out to be a shell company. This company was dissolved on February 1, 2022, and 11 days later, the Manika Private Limited was established on February 11, 2022.

According to the Express News report, the number of Gogi's bank accounts also showed an abnormal increase from 2019 to 2021. A huge sum of Rs426 million was deposited in just one bank account through 47 different transactions from 2018 to 2022.

Apart from this, 102 bank accounts of Gogi, Gujjar and their other partners have been detected across the country. The total amount was Rs14.5 billion, it added.

Meanwhile speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Central Deputy General Secretary Ataullah Tarar said that Gogi’s total assets increased by a whopping 15,300%. He added that Gogi had no qualifications other than being a friend of Imran’s wife Bushra Maneka.

“Today, there have been shocking revelations about Farah Gogi's assets,” Tarar said. He alleged that it was a trio, comprising Gogi, Bushra Maneka and the dummy chief minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar behind all this corruption.

“Seeing the success of the no-confidence motion, [against then prime minister Imran Khan in 2022], the PTI chief sent Gogi and her husband abroad,” he said, adding that Farah Gogi should come back to Pakistan and testify about the PTI chairman. “Farah Gogi will have to answer for these assets,” he added.

“Which business gives 420% return? Did they install a money-making machine in Bani Gala [the residence of the former prime minister]? He [Imran] destroyed the national economy but he fixed his personal economy.”

Reacting to Tarar’s press conference, Imran’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat, who said he was speaking with the permission of Imran Khan, termed the allegations of Tarar a new wave of propaganda against Bushra Bibi.

Marwat told reporters in Islamabad that Pakistan had reached a point where political temperatures had reached a boiling point. “Circumstances demand that [PML-N] supremo Nawaz Sharif declare that Pakistan cannot afford any more political unrest.”

Bushra Bibi challenges Toshakhana verdict

Bushra Bibi, the spouse of former prime minister Imran Khan, has challenged her conviction in the Toshakhana reference before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

A day ago, Mr Khan also moved the court against his convictions in the Toshakhana and cipher cases.

An accountability court convicted the husband and wife on Jan 31. They were sentenced to 14 years imprisonment each, and a Rs1.54 billion fine was imposed.

In her appeal filed on Saturday, Ms Bibi contended that the “power corridors” were behind her conviction.

The conviction was based on the “false statement” of Syed Inamullah Shah, a former comptroller in the Prime Minister’s Office, she claimed in her appeal.

According to Ms Bibi, the former prime minister had instructed his military secretary to deposit the Graft jewellery set in Toshakhana, but the prosecution alleged that this set was not deposited.

She requested the court to set aside the conviction and suspend her sentence till a decision on her appeal is made.

In his appeal, Mr Khan had pleaded that the trial was conducted in violation of the fundamental right to a fair trial even though the convicts and their counsels extended full cooperation to the court.

Judge Bashir “suddenly and illegally” ended the couple’s right to cross-examine the prosecution witnesses on Jan 29.

According to Mr Khan, his lead counsel, Sardar Latif Khosa, was contesting the election and had sought general adjournment from the Supreme Court and high courts. But the trial court refused his request for an adjournment.

When Mr Khosa’s substitute, Zaheer Abbas, took over, he was also not allowed reasonable time to prepare arguments since the court was “under some undue pressure” to decide the case before Feb 8, Mr Khan claimed in his appeal.

On Jan 30, the defence counsel requested the judge to restore the right to cross-examine the witnesses, but the judge adjourned the hearing till Jan 31.

In a strongly-worded statement released following a core committee meeting on Monday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expressed serious concerns regarding the safety of the party's founding chairman, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, during their incarceration.

The party vehemently condemned the alleged provision of inadequate and unsafe sustenance to Bushra Bibi. Furthermore, PTI criticised her continued detention in Bani Gala, contrary to her request for relocation to a proper prison facility.

During the core committee meeting, a call was made for the restoration of fundamental rights for all incarcerated leaders and political activists of PTI, emphasising the importance of treating them in accordance with the law.

PTI also voiced strong condemnation regarding recent cases of forced disappearances targeting the party's candidates for national and provincial assembly seats. Notable instances involving Brigadier (retd) Aslam Ghaman and Ahmar Rashid Bhatti were cited, with the party alleging coercive tactics to force their departure from PTI.

The party demanded the immediate dismissal of the chief secretaries and inspector generals of Punjab and Sindh, advocating for stringent accountability measures. Additionally, PTI urged a thorough investigation by a judicial commission into allegations made by the former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Highlighting unwavering support for PTI Balochistan, the core committee called for the swift release of election results for all national and provincial assembly constituencies in line with Form-45.

The committee expressed unequivocal support for the collaborative efforts between Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM), Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Emphasising the party's increased influence within the Federation of Pakistan following the February 8 elections, the committee issued a stern warning against any attempts to undermine its electoral mandate, cautioning that such actions could fracture national cohesion and weaken the federation.

Meanwhile, addressing a press briefing at the Lahore Press Club, Advocate Ahmad Awais, representing Dr Yasmin Rashid, has highlighted concerns about compromised electoral integrity following the February 8 elections. Awais specifically addressed the electoral contestation in the NA-130 constituency between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif and PTI candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid.

Among the 376 polling stations in this precinct, PTI possesses Form-45s of 334 polling stations. According to official Form-45 records, Dr Yasmin Rashid secured 190,000 votes from these polling stations, while Nawaz Sharif obtained a nominal 8,000 votes. However, discrepancies emerged upon the declaration of the final vote tally, with 189,000 votes attributed to Nawaz Sharif and 100,400 to Dr Yasmin Rashid, who is currently incarcerated. Advocate Owais emphasised a significant disparity, wherein Nawaz Sharif purportedly received 90,000 votes and Yasmin Rashid only 2,000 votes across the remaining 33 polling stations.

Court defers indictment of PTI founder, Bushra in £190m case

Accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday once again deferred indictment of PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi in £190 million case, ARY News reported.

The indictment was deffered without any proceedings till Feb 23.

Accountability court judge had to conduct hearing of the case at Adiala Jail. However, the newly-appointed judge Nasir Javed Rana has yet to take charge at his new place of posting.

It may be recalled that on previous hearings Judge Muhammad Bashir was not available, so indictment was postponed. A new judge was appointed in place of judge Muhammad Bashir who has applied for long leave till his retirement.

NCA £190m scandal

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched an investigation against Imran Khan and his wife and others for the alleged gain of hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust, which reportedly caused a loss of 190 million pounds to the national exchequer.

As per the charges, the former prime minister and others accused allegedly adjusted Rs50 billion — 190 million pounds at the time — sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the government.

The PTI chief registered Trust for Al-Qadir University Project on Dec 26, 2019.

The Adiala Jail administration has refused to shift Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, from her Bani Gala residence in Islamabad to jail, ARY News reported.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan heard the plea of Bushra Bibi to transfer Adiala jail from Bani Gala in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In his report submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the superintendent Adial Jail said that the petitioner could not be shifted because of security concerns.

Furthermore, the superintendent wrote, already space in the jail was limited as 250 females were crammed into it.

Earlier, Uzma Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has moved Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking a medical examination of former first lady Bushra Bibi, who is incarcerated at Bani Gala.

“Illegally incarcerated former first lady was given chemical laced food over a week ago, which has burnt her throat and stomach. She is unable to eat and is unwell, but has been denied medical treatment,” the PTI said in a post on X.

In the petition, Uzma Khan pleaded the court that Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi should be allowed for medical examination from her family doctor Dr Asim Yousaf in the presence of senior doctors of PIMS hospital.

“It is further prayed that if it is advised by Dr Asim Yousaf, medical examination of Bushra Bibi is conducted in PIMS by the senior doctors in the presence of Dr Asim Yousaf,” the plea stated.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana reference last month on charges related to retaining expensive jewelry.

'Spicy food' caused 'mouth ulcers' to Bushra Bibi

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha has claimed that the party founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi’s “health worsened and she got mouth ulcers after she was given a spicy meal” during her house arrest at Bani Gala.

The former first lady was put under house arrest at her husband’s Islamabad mansion, which was declared “sub-jail” at the request of the Adiala jail superintendent last month following her conviction in the infamous Toshakhana case.

Khan’s lawyer Panjutha, speaking to journalists after meeting the party founder’s wife, reiterated that Bushra’s life was in “extreme danger”, and claimed that the high court also expressed concerns over her medical reports.

“Bushra Bibi’s health worsened after she was given a spicy meal,” the lawyer said, adding that the former first lady was unable to eat breakfast as the spicy food caused mouth ulcers.

He complained that they also filed a petition to the high court to transfer her to the Adiala Jail citing threats to her life, but no progress was made in this regard. Panjutha added that authorities concerned keeping Bushra in jail on the pretext of security concerns.

The lawyer reiterated the demand to transfer the former first lady to Adiala Jail from the Bani Gala mansion.

Another PTI lawyer, Senator Ali Zafar alleged that cases had been filed against Bushra Bibi just to humiliate the PTI founder. He also demanded to shift the former first lady back to Adiala Jail.

Zafar said a PTI legal team would also submit a petition tomorrow to allow her to meet her husband at the jail.

Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, the PTI senior vice president, repeated the same allegations and said, “Bushra Bibi is being served substandard meals and she was confined to one room.”

He also alleged that the Adiala jail superintendent had also misbehaved with the incarcerated PTI founder. Marwat announced to file a contempt of court petition against the jail superintendent tomorrow.

Authorities had declared the Bani Gala residence a "sub-jail" to confine the former first lady at the request of the Adiala jail superintendent. Bushra and Khan were awarded a 14-year jail term, each, when accountability court's Judge Muhammad Bashir announced the verdict in a case related to the illegal sale of state gifts.

Indictment of Imran, Bushra in graft case deferred till 27th

An accountability court on Friday deferred the indictment of former premier Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi in GBP190 million corruption case till Feb 27, as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) is set to take up appeals against their conviction in Toshakhana and cipher cases on Feb 26.

The newly appointed judge, Nasir Javed Rana, who has replaced Judge Mohammad Bashir as he is retiring in a few weeks, resumed proceeding in Adiala Jail where the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Mr Khan and Bushra Bibi is being heard.

Property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, his son Ahmed Ali Riaz, Mirza Shehzad Akbar, and Zulfi Bukhari are also among the suspects in this reference, but instead of joining the investigation and subsequent court proceedings, they absconded and were subsequently declared proclaimed offenders.

At the makeshift courtroom, Mr Khan was wearing red sweater, with sky blue shirt and blue trouser when the matter was taken up for hearing.

Only a few media persons were allowed in the “sitting area”, which lacked proper seating arrangement, at some distance from the rostrum to witness the court proceeding. However, they could not properly hear the arguments.

When Barrister Salman Safdar, the counsel for Mr Khan, pointed it out to the judge, the latter suggested that he share details with the media at the end of the hearing.

The defence counsel said the prosecution in Toshakhana and cipher cases violated the right of fair trial of Mr Khan. The trial proceeding in the cipher case was struck down by the Islamabad High Court twice due to grave illegalities, he argued, while requesting the judge to conduct the proceeding in the GBP190mn case at par with other cases.

Judge Rana allowed Mr Khan to see a dentist in the jail after he apprised the judge that he was 70 years old and required some medical care. His lawyer pointed out that over the past seven months, Mr Khan had never sought any relief for medical grounds.

The former premier also sought permission for meeting his wife, Bushra Bibi. The judge granted the request.

‘Institutions collapsed’

Talking to the media persons, Mr Khan said the institutions like the judiciary and NAB had collapsed during the ‘selection’ of the government process. The ‘rigged’ elections were aimed at undermining his party position, he said, adding that efforts were being made to cover up massive rigging.

The PTI founder alleged that the former commissioner of Rawalpindi, Liaquat Ali Chattha, who levelled serious allegations against the chief election commissioner and chief justice, was tortured after being picked up in a Vigo vehicle and was forced to backtrack from the confessions about rigging in elections.

Objections to appeals removed

Meanwhile, the IHC has fixed the appeals of Mr Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Bushra Bibi against their conviction by the trial courts.

A division bench is set to hear the appeals challenging their conviction in Toshakhana and cipher cases on Monday.

As PTI leader Sardar Latif Khosa earlier told the media about filing of the appeals, Barrister Syed Ali Zafar rushed to the court office and hurriedly filed the appeals without finalising them.

The registrar office then raised administrative objections to the appeals considering that the legal team had filed the same ‘prematurely’ and contacted lead counsel Barrister Zafar.

The legal team later completed the requirements and the objections were finally removed.

Special bench formed to hear Imran’s appeals tomorrow

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) formed a special division bench on Saturday to hear the appeals of former prime minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi tomorrow (Monday) against their convictions in the cipher and Toshakhana cases.

Mr Khan and Mr Qureshi have challenged the conviction and their 10-year sentence each in the cipher case. Mr Khan and Bushra Bibi filed appeals against their conviction in the Toshakhana reference in which they were sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment each and a Rs1.54 billion fine.

The IHC division bench, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, will hear the appeals on Monday.

The appeal against conviction in the cipher case pointed out that the arrest and remand hearing on Aug 16, 2023, took place in the “most objectionable, clandestine, and secretive manner”.

It said the prosecution did not share the complete record that was produced before the trial court against Mr Khan and the judge indicted the former premier and former foreign minister in haste.

The appeal recalled that the IHC division bench had to scrap the trial court proceedings twice owing to the “glaring illegalities”, but Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain allegedly concluded the trial without complying with the mandatory procedural requirements.

The appeal claimed that Mr Khan and his legal counsel extended all cooperation to the trial court and did not seek unnecessary adjournment to linger on the proceeding.

However, the judge did not ensure a fair trial and “the proceedings were hurried through by the court at a breakneck speed for reasons known only to the court itself”, and the “trial was concluded in less than 20 days”.

The appeal said the defence counsel cross-examined four prosecution witnesses, and the case was adjourned to Jan 25 when a counsel appeared before the IHC and another counsel had to rush to Lahore for dental surgery. The case was adjourned to Jan 27 when the judge appointed state lawyers for Mr Khan and Mr Qureshi.

It said Mr Khan and Mr Qureshi strongly objected to “these so-called state counsels without their consent but to no avail”.

They requested the court to make a call to their lead counsel to seek assistance in cross-examination, but the trial court refused to wait for him.

The appeal said the trial in the cipher case was shifted to a “secret room” and concluded in a “very short span of time”.

Toshakhana reference

The appeal in the Toshakhana reference alleged the trial was conducted in violation of the fundamental right to a fair trial.

It also insisted that Mr Khan, his spouse and their lawyers cooperated with the court, but Judge Muhammad Bashir on Jan 29 “suddenly and illegally” closed their right to cross-examine the prosecution witnesses.

The appeal said the lead counsel, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, was contesting the election and had already sought general adjournment from the Supreme Court and high courts, but the trial court refused his request.

It said the alternative lawyer, Zaheer Abbas, was also not allowed reasonable time to prepare for the arguments “since the court was under some undue pressure to decide the case before Feb 8, 2024”, the date of elections.

According to the appeal, a defence counsel on Jan 30 sought to restore cross-examination but to no avail and the judge adjourned the hearing until Jan 31, when he announced the judgement without even recording the statements of Mr Khan and his spouse under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

It said the accountability judge convicted the former prime minister “in a haphazard manner, bypassing the procedure and settled practice [and] under apparent/visible pressure”.

Imran Khan, wife Bushra indicted in £190m NAB reference

PTI Founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been indicted in the £190 million scandal reference in a hearing held by the Islamabad accountability court in Adiala Jail on Tuesday.

The court has now sought five witnesses in the next hearing. Accountability Court judge Nasir Javed Rana held the hearing and announced the verdict.

Both accused refuse charges levelled against them by the prosecution.

However, two applications submitted by Imran Khan have been approved. The PTI founder had sought permission to have a checkup conducted from a dentist as well as a general physician of his choice.

The hearing was adjourned till March 6.

Alarming revelations have come forth in the investigation report of the 190 million-pound scam case against former prime minister Imran Khan and others.

The record of correspondence with the UK's National Crime Agency, held by the Asset Recovery Unit of the previous government, has disappeared. The report also confirms Malik Riaz's meeting with former prime minister Imran Khan along with the former accountability adviser Shahzad Akbar before the settlement of 190 million pounds.

As per the PM House records, the meeting was held on July 11, 2019.

The report states that the missing record was held by Shahzad Akbar and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem. The record was owned by the state of Pakistan, and disappeared to cover up the illicit activities.

The records were made to disappear to hamper the investigation in the case, the report said, adding that the Cabinet Division had conducted an inquiry into the missing records.

The report further says that Shahzad Akbar and Ziaul Mustafa Naseem have been held responsible for the loss of the records.

The correspondence with the British NCA was confirmed by Asset Recovery Unit Secretary Manzoor Kayani, according to the investigation report. The unit had written letters to Usman Ahmed, the country manager of the NCA.

In the first two letters, the NCA was informed of the 1 Hyde Park, London property and money laundering investigations. After the letters, the NCA froze the UK bank accounts, the report said.

A third letter dated April 18, 2019, offered surprising explanations to the NCA, as per the report. On Shahzad Akbar's instructions, the NCA was told that Ali Malik Riaz had declared 1 Hyde Park, London property and paid taxes according to Pakistani law.

The NCA was told that no action could now be taken on the property in Pakistan, according to the investigation report. The British crimes agency has been given an impression that no investigation was underway against Bahria Town.

The former accountability adviser had already submitted the "Deed of Confidentiality" to the NCA on November 6, 2019, before the cabinet’s approval, the report said further. Shahzad Akbar brought the summary to the Prime Minister's House for the cabinet’s approval “by hand”, the report claimed.

No record of the summary’s collection existed, as per the report.

On Monday, an accountability court in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the former prime minister’s accountability adviser, Mirza Shahzad Akbar, property tycoon Malik Riaz and four others in the 190 million-pound scandal reference.

The warrants were also issued for Ziaul Mustafa Naseem, former minister Zulfi Bukhari, Ahmed Ali Riaz, and Farhat Shehzadi alias Farah Gogi.

On Dec 2, a civil court in Islamabad declared ex-SAPM Akbar the “proclaimed offender” in the embezzlement case. The charges of fraud and other offences had been filed against Akbar at the Secretariat Police Station in Islamabad.

Judge Ahmed Shahzad Gondal declared Akbar “proclaimed offender” for persistent non-appearance.

£190m Al-Qadir Trust case charge sheet reveals shocking facts about PTI founder, Bushra Bibi

Startling facts surfaced in the charge sheet against founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in £190m Al-Qadir Trust case.

“In April 2019, Al-Qadir University did not exist. In Britain, the National Crime Agency traced the £190 million. Before the money was transferred to Pakistan, the head of East Recovery Unit Shahzad Akbar made a secret agreement with the property tycoon,” he said.

“Founder found guilty of the violating PTI Rules of Business 1973. Shahzad Akbar signed the National Crime Agency (NCA) confidentiality deed on December 6, 2019. PTI founder approved the Al-Qader Trust in the cabinet with its influence,” the charge sheet maintained.

“Bushra Bibi helped founder PTI by signing documents as trustee on 24 March 2021,” the charge sheet said.

IHC to proceed with Imran’s pleas, even if prosecutor not appointed

Perturbed by the prosecution agencies’ response to ex-prime minister Imran Khan’s appeals against his conviction in cipher and Toshakhana cases, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed the federal government to appoint prosecutors before the next date of hearing.

The IHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb resumed hearing on the appeals against the conviction of Mr Khan and ex-foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

Barrister Salman Safdar, counsel for the former premier, informed the court that Mr Qureshi had filed an application seeking suspension of his sentence.

The directive to the government came when Deputy Attorney General Azmat Tarar apprised the court that the appointment of two special prosecutors of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had not been finalised as the process was still ongoing.

Justice Aurangzeb expressed displeasure and remarked that the court wouldn’t be bothered if the prosecutors were not appointed by March 5, the next date of hearing.

Justice Aurangzeb told Mr Tarar, “You are representing the state. You should take notes and share with the prosecution as the court continues the hearing.”

Barrister Safdar invited the court’s attention to Mr Khan’s ‘speedy’ trial, saying that prosecution had produced 25 witnesses before the judge in one single day while trial court recorded their testimonies till midnight.

He pointed out that the judge moved the court to a “secret” location where the “prosecution and the judge played a match together”.

CJ Farooq remarked that since the hearing on the appeals had already been fixed, the counsel may advance his arguments at length on the same date and the court would examine the matter accordingly.

While dictating the order of the day, Justice Farooq said: “The conduct of state/respondent is not prompt and is not appreciated.”

The court directed the state to complete the process for the appointment of prosecutor before the next date of hearing.

The bench then took up the appeals of Mr Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, against their conviction in the Toshakhana reference.

Barrister Syed Ali Zafar, counsel for the couple, argued that this matter was even graver as the judge had closed the right of cross-examination in this case.

NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Azhar Maqbool Shah informed the court that Special Prosecutor Amjad Sohail was not available owing to the death of his a relative.

He suggested the hearing may be adjourned till March 11.

Justice Farooq reminded him that it is the bench that schedules and regulates the hearing.

Barrister Safdar stated that Mr Khan, his spouse and Mr Qureshi had also filed petitions seeking suspension of their sentence and conviction.

Justice Aurangzeb remarked that IHC had already ruled in the matter related to suspension of conviction and the matter was pending before the Supreme Court.

“We have already fixed the appeals for a short date, if you want us to take up the petitions seeking suspension of conviction, then we would adjourn the hearing sine die,” remarked the judge.

Barrister Zafar, however, requested the court to hear the appeals.

Subsequently, the case was adjourned to March 5.

Iddat case

District and Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand took up Mr Khan and Bushra Bibi’s appeals against their conviction in the Iddat case.

The judge issued notices to complainant Khawar Farid Maneka and adjourned the hearing to March 11.

Salman Akram Raja, counsel for the PTI’s founder, argued that Mr Khan married Bushra Bibi 70 days after the latter got divorce from Mr Maneka. He said that filing of complaint by Mr Maneka after a gap of six years was an afterthought.

He further said that the trial court had overlooked legal provisions and religious principles while convicting them in this case.

Complaint against CJP

Talking to media persons outside Adiala Jail, PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen recalled that a five-member bench of the Supreme Court had in 2021 pointed out that Justice Qazi Faez Isa was prejudiced against the former premier and, therefore, held that he should not hear the cases involving Mr Khan.

Mr Shaheen said the PTI’s leadership was of the opinion that Justice Isa could not be fair now and should recuse himself from matters related to Mr Khan.

A local court in Islamabad Saturday dismissed a Rs20 billion defamation lawsuit filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan by former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry after almost 10 years

In July 2014, the former CJP sent a defamation notice worth Rs20 billion to Khan for accusing him of rigging in the 2013 general election.

Chaudhry’s lawyers had warned that legal proceedings would be initiated against Khan if he failed to apologise for the allegations he had levelled earlier against their client.

However, the former top judge formally filed the lawsuit against the PTI founder in the court of district and sessions judge in the federal capital in January 2015.

In his lawsuit, the former CJP stated that the PTI founder used derogatory remarks against him in his statement published on June 27, 2014. It further claimed that Khan levelled baseless and fabricated allegations against the judiciary.

After prolonged proceedings, the court dismissed the lawsuit against Khan, declaring the defamation notice as time-barred.

A district and session court in Islamabad ordered to produce Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi on April 4, ARY News reported.

As per details, the session court judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the bail pleas and issued production orders for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife.

The PTI counsel Khalid Yousaf Chaudhary appeared before the court, where the court ordered superintendent Adiala Jail to present Imran Khan on April 4.

Earlier, the District and Sessions court in Islamabad acquitted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in two vandalism cases registered against him.

The PTI founder was booked in two cases at Loohi Bheer and Sahala police stations during the party’s long march in Islamabad. Judicial Magistrate Ayesha Kundi acquitted the PTI founder in both cases.

In another development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the Adiala jail superintendent to arrange online meetings between the former prime minister and his lawyers till the resolution of the security issues.

In the judgment, the court said that the PTI founder’s lawyer had said that they were restricted from meeting their client due to security issues.

The IHC ordered the jail authorities to make arrangements to facilitate Imran Khan’s online meetings with his legal team. They were directed to ensure the required internet speed for smooth huddles of the former prime minister.

The former prime minister is facing more than 100 cases following his ouster from office and currently, he is incarcerated in Adiala Jail after convictions in cipher, toshakhana and ‘un-lawful’ nikkah cases.

I feel very sad for Imran Khan…
In my childhood, IK and Wasim Raja (big brother of Rameez) were popular Pak cricketers amongst our kids…. Pakistan lost track after Zia came to power… Pakistan was at Par with India when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was in power….

When IK was captain of Pak team said if he comes to power Pakistan will defeat India in war…Later he became PM of Pakistan, but nothing happened….
It started going downhill from ZAB's era although the foundations of destruction were laid in Ayub's era..
Your Last sentence doesn't make any sense.

IHC suspends Imran, Bushra Bibi's sentences in Toshakhana case

On January 31, an accountability court judge found the PTI founder and his spouse guilty of misusing the state’s gift repository during Imran’s tenure as prime minister and sentenced them to 14 years in prison.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs787 million each on the accused individuals in what is being described as the most swiftly concluded trial in accountability courts’ history.

In a reference filed in December 2023, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had accused the former PM and his wife of retaining precious gifts received during Imran’s terms as the country’s chief executive in violation of the prescribed protocol.

Interestingly, another trial court on August 5, 2023, disqualified Imran Khan and sentenced him to three years in prison for not disclosing the gifts he received as the prime minister in his statements of assets and liabilities submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

They are badly exposed. The CJP wants an extension because he is safe in office. Those FBR files aren't going away and Establishment won't be around forever. Judiciary has no power or principles and all we hear is that they and their handles will "manage it".

Poisoning Bushra Bibi cannot benefit anyone: Rana Tanveer

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, Rana Tanveer while responding to a question said Bushra Bibi is not a political leader, so why would anyone poison her?

He criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for attacking Army institutions on May 9 as the ‘enemy’ of Pakistan and blamed the party for ‘polluting’ the ‘system’.

The federal minister denied PTI’s accusation of election rigging as baseless.

Where PTI wins, there’s a fair election; where it loses, there’s rigging; this double standard cannot continue, Rana Tanveer said.

On Pakistan’s economy, the PML-N leader said SIFC will facilitate investment of billions of dollars in the country and added Saudi Arabia’s Aramco Company is interested in investing in the petrochemical sector.

He supported the role of SIFC in removing barriers for investment in Pakistan.

Rana Tanveer said ToRs of the inquiry commission to probe IHC judges’ letter were discussed with the ex-CJP Tassaduq Hussain Jillani after a detailed discussion in the federal cabinet meeting.

After ToRs, Mr. Jillani held a consultation on ‘some extra powers,’ he claimed.

Ruling out Sheikh Rasheed’s claim of PML-S coming from PML-N, Rana Taveer said it was a mere drama of the former interior minister and added that the federal government is working on the directions of Nawaz Sharif.

So you are calling her a liar, like they did with IK after he was shot. If she is lying then why not allow independent Doctors to see her. Remember it was claimed that she asked to stay at Bani Gala why that was a blatant lie.

Poisoning Claims: Medical Team Gives Bushra Bibi Clean Bill Of Health

A team of doctors has given former first lady Bushra Bibi a clean bill of health after she claimed to have been poisoned earlier this week.

They have prescribed her medicine to treat acidity and digestive issues based on her complaints of mild pain in the stomach and a bad taste in her mouth.

Earlier this week, Bushra Bibi had claimed that attempts had been made to poison her after she was moved to her Bani Gala mansion, which has been declared a sub-jail to ensure her privacy.

Her husband, incarcerated former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, had claimed that she had been poisoned with arsenic.

Subsequently, a medical team was formed to examine her health.

The team comprised four senior doctors, specialists, and consultants including Dr Ayesha Javed (Department of General Medicine), Dr Ammara Aslam (Department of Ear, Nose and Throat), Dr Ayesha Afzal (Department of Opthalmology), and Dr Maria Baloch (Department of Gastroentrology). All of the doctors work at the government-run Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

A report by the team of doctors (which is available with The Friday Times) said that Bushra Bibi had no pre-existing co-morbid illness (such as diabetes, or heart disease etc.) but had complained that after consuming some food about two and a half months ago, she experienced unusual sensations including burning sensation in the stomach, swelling of lips, watering of eyes and dryness of skin.

The condition continued for a few hours before improving. However, Bushra Bibi told the doctors that she has continued to experience a bad taste in her mouth and occasional mild pain in her stomach, apart from a loss of appetite.

Upon doctor's inquiry, she denied experiencing any pain or difficulty swallowing her food.

Bushra Bibi also complained of the occasional ear blockage, though no symptoms were observerd during the examination.

The doctors said that her pulse was normal, her blood pressure was slightly elevated, and her breathing was normal. A limited examination showed nothing unusual except mild congestion at the back of her throat, and nothing was found in her ears.

The doctors, who were all women, noted that Bushra Bibi allowed them limited access to examine her abdominal area, insisting on examination over her clothes.

However, the doctors found that everything was normal.

An eye exam was not performed on Bushra Bibi's request.

"On history and physical examination, no such signs or symptoms were identified that would raise any concerns," the doctors concluded.

They prescribed two medicines for Bushra Bibi, including one for acidity (Omeprazole 40mg) and one for digestive issues (Itopride 50mg). They also advised Bushra bibi to avoid oily or spicy foods, to take smaller but frequent meals, and to limit the last meal of the day to three to four hours before going to sleep.

It is pertinent to note that the report did not mention any samples drawn from Bushra Bibi or any other chemical examination of meals provided to her.

Moreover, the examination did not mention whether Bushra Bibi had a history of food-related allergies or whether that was even inquired about.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the symptoms of arsenic poisoning include but are not limited to nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. These are followed by numbness and tingling of the extremities and muscle cramping. In extreme cases and upon sustained, long-term administration, it may cause skin changes such as darkening and lesions and even death.

Who appointed the Doctor? Surely not the people that tried to kill her Husband and also claimed that it was fake.

The whole political system in Pakistan is a mess. Not sure of the news is true or not but the way things run here, it can be true.

PTI demands Bushra Bibi’s medical examination from Shaukat Khanum

The demand came two days after a medical report – released by Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (Pims) – found no evidence of any poisonous substance being given to Bushra Bibi at the Bani Gala sub-jail.

The medical report was released after four senior doctors performed a medical examination of Imran Khan’s wife. The report said that Bushra Bibi’s appetite was not normal and she is suffering from stomach pain.

PTI founder Imran Khan’s personal physician, Dr Asim Yousuf, also performed a medical examination of the former first lady and found no evidence of any poisonous substance.

Today, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan – in a statement – said they will only accept the medical reports – issued by a personal physician, demanding to conduct examination from Shaukat Khanum hospital.

Incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan on Tuesday alleged that his wife was poisoned at the Bani Gala sub-jail. The former prime minister made the startling revelations during a hearing of the £190 million settlement case in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.

During the hearing, Imran Khan informed the accountability court judge that the former first lady had marks on her skin and tongue after “being poisoned”. “The court should pass an order for the medical examination of Bushra Bibi,” he said.

Why hasn't this been done weeks ago. Some called Bushra a drama queen but their own heroes know what they have done

Bushra alleges violation of her fundamental rights

Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, on Monday filed a petition before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against alleged violations of her fundamental rights during her incarceration at Banigala sub-jail.

In her petition, Bushra Bibi contended that she was poisoned and subjected to psychological torture at her Banigala residence that has been declared a sub-jail.

She further stated in the petition that she is suffering from heartburn, aches in throat and mouth and that she believes that it is the result of eating poisonous meal.

Bushra Bibi further said that there is only one lady deputed in the sub-jail while the rest of the staff is male and she feels discomfort in such an environment.

Moreover, the petitioner said, the room in which she has been confined is bugged and spy cameras are installed there at different places, which is against the right of her privacy.

The petitioner said she has not been given ample time to meet her family members and lawyers.

The petition said Bushra Bibi has requested her shifting to Adiala Jail and a petition in this regard is still pending before the IHC.

The petitioner requested the court to order relevant authorities to ensure protection of her fundamental rights.

The petitioner further requested the court to allow her medical check-up from Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hosptial.

Iddat case

In the Iddat case, the counsel of complainant Khawar Farid Maneka continued his arguments in support of the conviction and the sentence awarded to former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

The counsel of Mr Khan, Salman Akram Raja, on the other hand urged the court to conclude the arguments of complainant’s counsel advocate Raja Rizwan Abbasi.

Mr Raja accused Mr Abbasi of applying delaying tactics in the case.

During the course of the arguments, Mr Abbasi read out the verdict of the trial court and said the key witnesses in the case were Mufti Saeed, who solemnised the Nikkah; Aun Chaudhry, a witness of the Nikkah ceremony; and Latif, a domestic servant of Khawar Maneka.

He said that the Section 496-B (fornication) was added in the charges against Mr Khan and his wife on the complaint of Mr Maneka, but the trial court deleted this offence during framing of the charges.

He argued that he would assist the trial court on Section 496 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and requested the court to adjourn the hearing till May. He said that he would require at least 4 to 5 hours to conclude the arguments.

Mr Raja on the other hand pointed out that if the trial would continue in late hours, the arguments on the appeal against conviction could continue after the regular court timings. He, however, asked judge Shahrukh Arjumand to give adjournment for a single day.

The judge responded that the courts have remained closed for Eid holidays and, therefore, he has workload for the entire week.

He adjourned the hearing of the case till April 24.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday disposed of a petition filed by ex-premier Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi seeking her transfer from her Banigala residence, which had been declared a sub-jail, to Adiala Jail.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb disposed of the plea due to Bushra Bibi’s lawyers failing to appear before the court.

The former first lady was taken into custody on January 31 after an Islamabad accountability court sentenced her and Imran to 14 years in jail in the Toshakhana reference.

While the IHC on April 1 suspended their sentences in the Toshakhana reference, she remains in custody in the Iddat case. Imran also remains incarcerated in other cases.

Following the Toshakhana verdict, Bushra had arrived at Adiala Jail, where the National Accountability Bureau’s team was already present, to surrender to the authorities. Subsequently, she was taken into custody by the anti-graft watchdog.

However, she was moved to her Banigala home after it was declared a sub-jail in a late-night notification. Her shifting to the residence has been under discussion for weeks as she and her husband denied submitting any application to declare the residence a sub-jail.

Almost a week after her arrest, Bushra Bibi had challenged the residence’s status as a sub-jail, urging the IHC to let her complete her 14-year sentence in Adiala Jail.

In a subsequent hearing, the Adiala Jail administration had opposed moving her back to the prison, claiming that overcrowding posed security threats for the former first lady.

Last month, Justice Aurangzeb had asked if the authorities sought permission from Imran before converting his Banigala residence into a sub-jail.

A day ago, Bushra Bibi filed another petition before the IHC, alleging violations of her fundamental rights during her incarceration at Banigala.

Bushra Bibi’s sister raises concerns over treatment in Jail, criticizes PTI lawyers

Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister of Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has expressed deep concern over her sister’s treatment in imprisonment.

In interviews with private TV channels Samaa and Aik News, Wattoo highlighted several alarming issues.

Wattoo claimed that Bushra Bibi has been denied medical tests and visits from family. She said when she met Bushra two months, 10-12 police personnel were present at their meeting.

“There are concerns about the incidents that happened to Bushra Bibi during her imprisonment,” Wattoo stated. “She was definitely given something mixed in her food several times. Despite her request, she was not shown to any doctor for 10-15 days.”

"If Anything Happens To My Wife...": Ex Pak PM Imran Khan Warns Army Chief

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and jailed former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday alleged that Army chief General Asim Munir was directly responsible for the imprisonment of his wife Bushra Bibi.
Bushra Bibi, 49, was convicted in a corruption case as well as in the case of illegal marriage with Mr Khan, 71, and is currently held in detention at their Bani Gala residence in the suburbs of Islamabad.

The PTI leader in a conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail where he is currently incarcerated hurled allegations on the army chief, according to a long post uploaded on Mr Khan's official X account.

"General Asim Munir is directly involved in the sentence awarded to my wife," Mr Khan said, adding that the judge who convicted her said that he was forced to make the decision.

"If anything happens to my wife, I will not leave Asim Munir, I will not leave Asim Munir as long as I am alive. I will expose his unconstitutional and illegal steps," he threatened.

Mr Khan said there was a law of the jungle in the country and all was being done by the "king of the jungle". "If the king of the jungle wants, all the cases of Nawaz Sharif are forgiven, and when he wants, we are punished in three cases in five days," he alleged.

Mr Khan also said that the economy would stabilise not through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loans but by investment. "Due to the law of the jungle, there will be no investment in the country. It is good that Saudi Arabia is coming but investment will come once there is rule of law in the country," he said.

He also referred to the recent reported clash between police and army in Bahawalnagar area of Punjab and said that the "police were thrashed" by violating the law, but the IG (inspector general police) and Viceroy, who oppressed our people, apologised from those who had thrashed the police.

Mr Khan said the Viceroy said after the incident that "they (police) are our brothers". He went on to say that "such treatment is done to slaves and not to brothers" because those having power thrashed the police and also forced to apologise.

He also said that PTI was being stopped from contesting in the by-elections. "At this time, standing in front of oppression is Jihad. Our workers have to protect each vote, guard the vote," the former premier said.

So far the army has not responded to the serious allegations.

Bushra has been poisoned. There is no other explanation because if there was they would have tested her to prove her allegations wrong. They are waiting for all the traces of the poison to disappear before they test. Munir is evil. An innocent woman not only locked up but also poisoned

IHC restores Bushra Bibi’s plea for Adiala jail transfer

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday restored a petition filed by Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, seeking her transfer to Adiala Jail from her residence in Bani Gala.

Bushra Bibi has been placed under house arrest at her Bani Gala residence as a sub-jail following her conviction in the Toshakhana case.

IHC Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard Bushra Bibi’s plea while Usman Gill, the former first lady’s counsel, appeared in the court.

During proceedings, the state counsel did not oppose restoration of the appeal.

Subsequently, the court then issued instructions for fixing the appeal on April 22 and adjourned the hearing.

On Tuesday, the high court rejected former first lady Bushra Bibi’s transfer request from Bani Gala to Adiala Jail over non-compliance.

IHC Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb resumed the hearing on Bushra Bibi’s plea. The IHC judge expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of Bushra Bibi’s lawyers.

The court criticized both sides for what was perceived as political maneuvering.

Despite pleas for relief, the court remained resolute indicating a desire for adherence to legal proceedings.

Bushra Bibi’s legal team led by Advocate Shoaib Shaheen pushed for a private medical examination to address health issues.

It is worth mentioning here that the incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan alleged that his wife was poisoned at the Bani Gala sub-jail.
