Imran Khan's government so far has failed spectacularly for people in Pakistan.

  • He has not been able to fulfill his promises.
  • He has made u-turns on what his stance was before.
  • All the looters from previous era are out and free and he has failed in receiving looted money back from them.
  • In his era the looting has not stopped and he has not been able to catch the culprits.
  • By approving convicted Nawaz Sharif to go out of country he literally proved that the justice is not same for every Pakistani.
  • The life of poor and middle class Pakistanis is more miserable in his era than before.

He still has 2 years to right the ship and win ordinary Pakistanis back.

Now overseas Pakistanis are also feeling the heat. I came across a case in point.

  • One overseas Pakistani couple (husband and wife) open a joint Bank Account in Pakistan. They were using it as a savings account but transactions were very rare like once a year. One year they did not make any transaction and the Bank Account became dormant. Then wife went to Pakistan. She went to bank to make the account active, but was told that in Imran Khan's era this is not possible anymore. Both husband and wife has to come at the same time to bank, bring all sort of documents from overseas attested, it will go to head quarters for review and then may be account will become active.

Another thread where the OP's 'claims' will be debunked and he will disappear.

I think you are hurt that your crooked leader NS and his thick daughter have been rumbled as crooked traitors. This is badniyaati thread if there was ever one.

Oh boy, I do not know where to start so I am not even going to bother as it is all propaganda against Khan from those who are willing to support traitors over Pakistan.

Yeah, bring back the corrupt patwaries , they will make things easier for overseas Pakistanis.

Guys you don't know OP sahab's history. During Panama and before 2018 elections he was a raging supporter of PML-N and still probably is.

Can you expect an educated thought from such folks?

Okay lets make you the PM but you only have 2 years.

Also as for overseas Pakistanis and banking. The PTI government launched Roshan Digital accounts where you can go online from anywhere in the world and make an account in Pakistan. The SBP governor did a webinar last month and said everyday 800-1000 accounts are being opened. Roughly $500m has already been deposited by overseas Pakistanis.

You can use the Roshan Digital accounts to make investments and purchase property in Pakistan. The scheme is VERY popular.

This is one of the reasons why the ruppee is climbing like no tomorrow. Came down from 169 to 159 in a month.

I wonder why OP sahab's every thread is an anecdotal account of something that happened to a 'friend' of his.

@OP: the official in the bank probably checked the transaction and decided that it's not worth to pile up the work for individuals who will rarely use the account so he just made an excuse to not to do the work.

Moreover, at least in case of India, if it was joint account, both the party along with the document has to be presented. Since requirements are probably same across various nations, it will be perhaps same for Pakistan too.

I love to bash IK but i don't it's something that will be related to his policies.

wow. So you're blaming Imran Khan because someone's account became dormant. This is a new level of low bruv.

Are there any plans in place to give overseas Pakistanis the vote in a general election?

With the right steps taken by IK government, overseas Pakistanis beginning to feel more comfortable in investing some money in Pakistan. In the past, only corrupts and friends of the "patwaris" were involved in "business " in Pakistan with huge "profit " margin.

Just imagine how much Zardaris, Bhuttos, Dictators, Shareefs have had to steal to devalue Pakistani Rupee over the decades. I won't run the numbers cuz I'm genuinely scared of amount of looting all Pakistanis have suffered...

No wonder the white man (UK, USA, Swiss banks etc.) love and provide safe havens to these thieves... the overseas Pakistanis work hard, save money, send it back home and it goes straight into money launderer banks somewhere in Europe/Americas

This amount of money incoming every month could easily make our currency stable even if we assign a monkey as our finance minister

Take a moment to reflect on it. Blood boiling stuff.

Nah, only someone living inside Pakistan should have right to vote. Overseas Pakistani is overseas and IMO he loses right of vote when he stops having Pak nationality.

Oh come on, one isolated incident? That's such a reach.

Imran is good for the country, but I think he's a stepping stone. Not quite what the country needs in the long-run, but is a path to get there.

I disagree, overseas Pakistani’s care about Pakistan more than Pakistani nationals.

Just seeing how much support PML-N and PPP still have after all the corruption cases, it tells you the people only vote for their own interests and not the country’s.

People of Punjab will vote for the Sharif’s because then they won’t have to pay as much tax, whereas people of Sindh pay more tax yet most of the country revenue goes to developing Lahore.

The Sindhi’s will vote for Baby Zardari, they hear “Jiye Bhutto” and their ovaries explode. Many places like Orangi, Korangi and Landhi don’t have clean water, gas and electricity. My paternal grandparents reside in Landhi, and i can tell you that it’s a shi*hole. You ask the people in the streets who they’ll vote and they say people’s party. It’s like they’re oblivious to all the mess around them.

If Overseas Pakistani’s get the chance to vote, it’ll be the end of the corrupt parties. PTI will win with a majority.

Yet, it's the overseas Pakistanis who make huge donations to the Government and raise funds whenever they are needed to.

Pakistan records remittances over $2b for eighth consecutive month

Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked on Monday the overseas Pakistanis once again for ensuring that the country recorded remittances over $2 billion for the eighth consecutive month.

"Remittances from overseas Pakistanis were $2.27 bn in January, up 19% over Jan 2020 — 8th consecutive month of remittances above $2b," said PM Khan minutes after the State Bank of Pakistan shared the news.

PM Khan said so far the remittances of the country in the ongoing fiscal are up 24% compared to last year.

"This is a record for our country and I thank our overseas Pakistanis," he said.

In the same thread, the PM shared the "good news" regarding the "sustained growth" shown in the industrial sector.

"Large scale manufacturing saw another double digit growth month in December 2020 — 11.4% growth vs Dec 2019. Cumulative July to Dec growth above 8% now," he wrote.

Before his tweets, the SBP had released the data for the remittances Pakistan had received in January.

"In January 2021, remittances remained above $2bn for 8th straight month," said the central bank.

The SBP said that remittances had increased by 19% compared to the same month of last fiscal year. But it also added that the remittances were also "marginally lower" than what the country had reported in December 2020.

"During FY21, remittances at an unprecedented $16.5bn are 24% higher than same period in FY20," said the SBP.

The highest amount of remittances came from the overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia, with data showing that the country had received $553.6 million from there.

If this sustains or keeps going up, does this mean that the annual remittance is approaching nearly 1/10 of Pakistan's GDP? That's insane.

No one sends money back to Pakistan for "patriotic" reasons just like no one starts a business in Pakistan for patriotic reasons either. It comes down to opportunity and rate of return on investment for businesses.

In the clear absence of the latter, only the remittances are keeping Pakistan afloat. I know people who didn't even grow up in Pakistan and frankly don't have a strong connection to it yet will send money back to help out widows in their extended family. Our parents do even more. May all of them be rewarded by Allah for it.

As long as the value of Pakistani rupee keeps getting weaker we will keep sending ;)
Exactly, the rupee being so weak is the main reason why people are sending money to Pak. I know a lot of people that are investing in Pakistan for this reason alone. I myself sent some money over for my next trip to Pakistan when the pound was 220 rupee, I went down to 210 and I just checked it's back upto 220+, which is absolutely ridiculous.

I wanted to open this amazing Roshan account, I was told that I can only use it to send money into the account from abroad but I couldn't deposit money into it in Pakistan. Which makes zero sense to have such a bank account. I needed an account which I could use when in Pakistan but this doesn't work like that.

I then wanted to open a local account, I was told I had to get my pay slips attested by the British Embassy, LOL.

IK has greatly disappointed. This is not to say for a minute that I support Noora or Zardari. IK keeps putting his foot in his mouth with the most absurd statements that does not help his position. I think many in Pak will now be regretting voting for him.

So then why don’t YOU put your mouth where the money is by stepping up and run for PM in the next election? Let Pakistani voters have an other choice if not Noora, Zaradari and IK.
Unless you want Pakistanis to vote for Fazlur Rehman?

Coz I have a different profession. Question you should ask is why did your beloved PM make so many false promises?? I want a presidential system in Pak instead of democracy that your hero keeps crying about. He promised us how Nawaz would be behind bars and and bringing back Aafia Siddiqui, nothing! I can not be a liar like your beloved and narcissistic PM. Saying "why don't you become PM??"a cheap tactic PTI fundo's use to defend there hypocrite PM.

Yes he wants presidential system to become a supreme leader and bypass parliament.

In other words a dictator

Not only does this guy look like gaddafi he's beginning to sound and behave like a dictator he literally wants to crush people opposing him like a dictator and stop protests .

Hes totally lost it .

He does have the attitude of a dictator with his annoying know it all personality. Whatever system we bring i don't think it will be any worse then this joke of a democracy. Methinks in a presidential system he will not be the main man. I just don't like a hypocrite like IK being either PM or President.

My hero? lol ok let’s take out my hero.
Who is your hero? Or you are just a classical arm chair critic with a “Shahana mizaaj” where you wouldn’t do anything but yearn for someone else to come at your service and fix it all for you?

I do plenty for Pak without wanting to boast about it. My hero in politics is Muhammad Ali Jinnah, nuff said. Now don't compare your IK to the great Quaid! I am afraid you are most likely just like your hero all talk and no action still telling us how he won the 1992 World Cup! Your beloved has been unable to deliver anything yet you will keep supporting this loser IK hoping he will get it right one day. Your PM is a coward hiding behind the garb of pacifism. So pathetic is IK that he is now condoning rapes too, how low can you get??. In your silly world any man condemning this playboy now teaching us about Islam should become PM himself! Great logic!

Because he wanted to be PM. All politicians lie, or exaggerate. Not fair to hold IK to a higher standard.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Just coz others jump out of the window doesn't mean I will too. Just coz others consume liquor does not mean i will to. The list is endless. If Nawaz and Zardari are condemned for lying then the same goes for IK.

I've heard a few relatives who live outside Pakistan, say that they have been told that they will have their bank accounts closed in Pakistan if they don't attend the bank in person and verify that the account belongs to them.

If correct, how ridiculous is this.

I think some of it maybe because of fraudulent accounts and lack of checks previously. Money laundering was probably very easy in all previous corrupt governments.

Traditionally overseas Pakistanis have always supported Imran Khan and PTI and have boosted their budget with lots of financial support, but if these sort of policies continue, then I can see that support reducing.

They should allow accounts to be verified in PK banks or in Embassies in Foreign countries.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday said that overseas Pakistanis are "the biggest asset for the country."

“Unfortunately, we [Pakistan] couldn’t benefit from this asset,” said PM Imran Khan.

The premier, while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Apna Ghar programme as the chief guest, said that he has witnessed overseas Pakistanis progressing.

He said that overseas Pakistanis sent the biggest amount of foreign exchanges to Pakistan to help stabilise the national kitty.

PM Imran Khan added that the technical expertise of overseas Pakistanis had to be welcomed in Pakistan but that couldn’t be done due to several hurdles.

"It is difficult to change things all of a sudden but we are trying our best to do that," he assured the overseas Pakistani community.

The premier said that land grabbers operating in Pakistan "illegally occupied plots that overseas Pakistanis had bought in the country."

He further stated that corruption is the "biggest hurdle in the way of investments in Pakistan" because the people who are used to a corruption-free environment cannot work in a country having a racket of corrupt individuals.

“Nonetheless, we will try to provide safety to the investors by bringing improvements in the system,” the premier promised.

Sharing his views on the difference between import and export, PM Khan said that this difference can be removed with similar short-term schemes.

Prime Minister Imran Khan directed on Wednesday to appoint facilitating officers in 39 federal divisions to provide better services to overseas Pakistanis.

According to the PM Delivery Unit (PMDU), the officers will not be below the Basic Pay Scale (BPS) grade of 19.

The concerned ministries had been directed to notify the appointment of facilitating officers, the PMDU added.

The premier has also directed to establish special sections and desks in 34 sub-departments of 13 ministries for the facilitation of overseas Pakistanis.

The federal departments had been directed to share the information regarding this initiative with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for dissemination to the Pakistani diaspora.

Regular notification of the setting up of specific sections and desks will also be issued, according to the PMDU.

All the divisions had been directed to furnish reports within 21 days about the accomplishment of the assigned task.

The initiative is aimed at addressing the problems faced by overseas Pakistanis in different offices.

Earlier in August, the PMDU received the first quarterly (Jan-March) report of public courts (Khuli Kachehris) conducted by 32 federal intuitions.

According to the report, out of 6,911 complaints, 4,842 were resolved in public courts of federal intuitions and numerous complaints were sent to the officers concerned for resolution.

A total of 10,060 public awareness questions regarding federal intuitions were answered, with the report adding further that public hearings were conducted through Facebook Live and live telephone calls by the heads of concerned institutions.

According to the PMDU, federal intuitions held 955 e-court hearings as per the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
