There was a phone-in discussion on why the IPL has ignored the worlds number one T20 spinner, Imran Tahir

A caller by the name of Paul who sounded like Paul Harris said Imran Tahir was like Leicester City.. Lucky to be on top but he is in for a mighty fall. He said the Indians understand spin better than anyone else and that is the reason why IPL teams snubbed him.

The Indians certainly did not understand Steve O'Keefe

Do you agree with the caller that Imran Tahir is in for a fall like Leicester City?

I could agree with the caller, but then again, i have never seen him bowl really. I only watch crixket which pakistan plays and we havent faced him for a long time.

Tahir is a damn good LOI bowler and he will surely keep on putting some good performances for RSA

Tahir is the no.1 LOIs spinner in world cricket right now. Enuff said

Imran to SACricketmag.com

‘I don’t know what to say, but as long as I perform for South Africa I’m happy with myself,’ Tahir humbly told SACricketmag.com when he was asked about the inconceivable snub.

To enter into a political debate is always a risky route in sport, but could the complex and often hostile relations between India and Pakistan have anything to do with it? Tahir was born, raised and played for Lahore, the second largest city in Pakistan. I dare not delve further.

If anything, Leicester is one of the few teams left that he hasn't represented yet. :91:

Hey stop bashing Leicester. Some of the more established names didnt do diddly squat and wont this season. As for Tahit, well he's a pakistani so what do you expect? does he think just because he is now south african they will forget? Oh bhai IPL is only for non pakistanis. Its a racist tournament that I hope gets its eventual commuppence!!

ODI suits Tahir perfectly. He's an excellent ODI bowler- an attacking one.

In tests he doesn't quite have the patience/brains/accuracy to out-plan the very best batsmen if they choose to defend him. He gives enough loose ones that they can leave his best & still tick over or escape even if they don't pick all his variations.

In ODI, batsman are forced to attack more and risk playing the wrong shot to a variation or dangerous ball they don't pick. It plays to his strengths as a bowler- wicket taking ability with good variation without needing 100% accuracy or to think out a set batsman.

Another 10 overs where he goes for 1.4 runs an over

10 overs - 2 wickets - 14 runs conceded
