Every time Pakistan loses a match against India or even loses a tournament the media and fans go crazy. It’s like Pakistan should win every tournament despite being underdogs. Look at the reception after losing t20 2022 final. Having unrealistic expectations and not the current strength/skill to meet them will always lead to poor confidence. It’s simple psychology. When Pakistan loses, a lot of people blame overconfidence lol when to me it looks like they’re scared out of their mind. Add in the constant chopping and changing of positions, hard to get a recall when dropped as written off as a tried and tested failure. Doesn’t help.

Yes playing cricket for your country is a very privileged position. But generally sporting teams preform better when confidence is high and stress is low. Thats is why in all sports you can see there is a constant effort to protect their squad from the criticism, pressure with managers taking the front of the blame (for example football you see this).

I honestly think playing for Pakistan cricket team is probably the most pressured job in world sport. There is no other team where so much expectation is lumped on you when you’re an underdog.
