India (150 & 487/6d) beat Australia (104 & 238) by 295 runs in the 1st Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Even in the first test last tour, India was sitting on a comfortable position. Then India got 36 all out and Australia won the game easily. So it is key for India to bat well in 2nd innings. Aussies will not give it so easily without a fight.
 
Woow! Did not expect Aus to collapse too.

Watching highlights now of Aus batting. Hopefully India will get a good lead. Any lead is handy in those conditions.
 
Can anyone pls tell me how does KL Rahul avg 33 in test cricket. Guy has class written all over him and his technique is copybook. It is very surprising that he hasn't set the world on fire yet but I understand why BCCI backs him so much.
 
When it comes to Bumrah’s action, before I excuse anyone of chucking I always ask myself, if bumrah was a trundler would I be claiming this? And the answer is no.

Unless ICC tests it, then I'm cool with it however Indian posters need to cool it. You can't cry about umpire decisons against you in a test match but then attack posters for doing the same.

The man is supremely talented. He is his own enemy. He has no one to blame but himself. You can see his attitude in IPL too. Too much negativity in his approach and shuts down the shop if a couple of wickets falls around him.
 
Need to clean up the tail quickly tomorrow. Every run is precious on this wicket.

India also needs to come out with an attacking mindset in their second innings. Jaiswal especially needs to back his natural instincts.
 
This pitch is awful and not suitable for playing a Test match. Even perfect length balls are bouncing unevenly.
It's ridiculous. But no complaints—we have to deal with it.

He has great skill and technique; he can play all kinds of shots and is a versatile batsman. I expected him to be the next big player after Kohli and Rohit, but he has been hugely disappointing. He is mentally not strong and a bit selfish in the white-ball format.

India still might lose this first Test match at Perth. But they are definitely winning the series.

Australia's batting is nothing. People have been hyping Australia up but it's India who are favorites.

Even a young West Indies side rolled Australian batting over.

Indian batting is also a joke. Even with Rohit and Gill coming back.

Its about which bowling attack is better on the day that will decide the outcome of the Test.

Agreed.

India should look to shut them off for 80 odd and get a 60-70 run lead. That lead can be huge given the conditions of play.

Aus tail can bat and stick around with Carey who is a fighter. Carey scores quickly too. So if Aus bat for 1 hour on Day-2, they will cross 120.
 
Did say I expected a low scoring series with two vulnerable batting lineups, but I didn't predict this carnage ! 17 wickets in a day, wow.
 
Austrlaia has never lost a test at Optus stadium. Won 4 out of 4 here. So i still back Australia in this contest. Difference is not that big.

Depends on the lead.

If India can shut them off for 80, then 70 run lead will be huge here.

Australia is not going to chase anything over 200 in 2nd innings.

I have no horse in ths race but def should be tested. It’s actually better for him to be tested and cleared. If anyone queries his action after that he can point to the clearance.

Both teams rely on one batter to solo carry (Fakhar + Travis) and both rely on bowlers however aussie bowling attack is 100x superior to 2017 pakistan.

Really tough times for aus cricket.

I can literally call anyone chucking without any proof. Commies analyze all the bowlers. THey analyzed Harshit Rana as well. This is 100% unadulterated sour grapes. I am quiet enjoying it.

It comes down to the bowling. They need to beat us in this game where their bowling line-up is clearly better else Shami being added to support Bumrah will make the line-ups at par from the next game onwards.

There's a reason all they can do is 'analyse'.

It's virtually a home India series. All the sponsors are Indian, which must be unprecedented in Australian Home Test series. It's like a WTC final.

Australia has 3 solid bowlers and good 4th bowling option. India has just one. Rana on debut. Siraj hsa regressed massively. 4th bowler is not that good

Bumrah is a bowler and a half nowadays to be honest. Throw in Shami and one of supporting gang and we have 3 solid quicks. I'd put that up against the Ozzie 3 headed monster and feel confident we could match. Without Shami of course we're short.

Some say Murali was a chucker and he had 800 Test wickets.

Some say Bhajji was a chucker and he had 400+ Test wickets.

Just because it wasn't caught before doesn't mean chucking can't happen now. Based on the image @SpiritOf1903 posted, he should be tested.

2004 article.. One is ex-pak coach and other one is ex-pak player.. So they're not bccicc guy (and bcci not that strong at that time)..

The elbow extension rule is much more strict for spinners, with no more than 5 degrees of bending allowed. Murali has a congenital deformity in his bowling arm, which has a natural 15% bend at the elbow. Hence, he was never punished by the ICC..
It is a much more relaxed rule for pacers, who are allowed up to 10 degrees of bending. Bumrah seems to be well within it. And in any case, pacers, who rely on the speed of their run up and strength of the bowling arm, won't get much more traction or additional pace by chucking.

My Josh was always high but couldn't be happier seeing all the meltdowns.

Lets be honest, cricket is just a sport and there will be one winner & a loser. We as fans have no stake in it, whatever the performance of the team we support. However, the most fun and satisfactory thing in all these is seeing the meltdown among haters. Moments like these is what makes these kind of day so special.

It all started with hopefully it is 5-0 for Aussies by end of this year to hopefully India will lose by an innings in this test to blaming IPL/T20 cricket for poor batting techniques for Aussies and finally chucking allegations. I will not be surprised if fixing card and players don't try against India for IPL money is played tomorrow. There is no better feeling than reading these gradual meltdowns on a Friday evening. Its bit like watching MSNBC on US election night.

India has enjoyed its best ever pace battery in its entire history with Bhumrah, Shami, Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Akashdeep, Harshit Rana but still apart from winning in Australia, they have failed to win a test series in England, South Africa, New Zealand in the last decade. How, i mean how? With the bowling resources they have had at their disposal they should have run through these teams in their conditions

Indian lacks swing bowlers like zaheer, Ishant. Whatever we have are hit the deck bowlers. Also batting has been consistently been poor.

They are an overrated team. That's why.

Some notes:

1) They have won only 1 ICC trophy since 2013. That too against choker South Africa. It is a shame because they always get preferential schedules/treatments from ICC.

2) No Test series win in England, South Africa, and NZ (as a matter of fact, NZ whitewashed them both home and away).
