India (150 & 487/6d) beat Australia (104 & 238) by 295 runs in the 1st Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

SO many bizzarre things happened today. one of the under-rated one was Labu's innings. 2 runs in 52 balls lol
That was weird to be honest. Yes, you can do Pujara, but you got to score some runs otherwise you will allow bowlers to set you up.

Aus needs to add 250-300 more runs with 13 wickets. India won't chase that.

India needs to wrap this up quickly.

A lead of 60-70 will be huge for them and might seal the Test. Once it gets into the 20-30 run lead then it becomes dicey again for them.

That is what happened in the 36 all out test. India made 244 and Australia was 111/7 and India allowed them to pile up 80 runs for the last 3 wickets. If i am right India dropped a few catches. So Austrlaia got 191. And India got a lead of only 53 runs. Then when Australia bowled ball was jagging around. It was pink ball test. May be had they bowled them out sooner India batted in slightly better time of the day could have posted 150.

Both Jaiswal and Devdutt approach in 2nd innings should not be defencive.

You cant survive on this pitch without scoring runs.

2nd day pitch is best for batting team . I hope we can set 250+ target.

Wonder if this develop cracks. Optus stadium uses the same grass and same clay used in WACA. so nature will be similar. If crack appears it will be doubly difficult.

game is looking well under control of India now... target above 200 would be very difficult to chase here for Australia.

They are an overrated team. That's why.

Some notes:

1) They have won only 1 ICC trophy since 2013. That too against choker South Africa. It is a shame because they always get preferential schedules/treatments from ICC.

2) No Test series win in England, South Africa, and NZ (as a matter of fact, NZ whitewashed them both home and away).
Yes team with 5 test maces is overrated

Aus lost home and away to India
Won only in nz and lost several to sa at home. Won once away in SA. Never won away in England and neither did they in bdesh iirc.

More demons set to emerge on Optus Stadium deck

Pace ace Mitchell Starc predicts the tricky Optus Stadium wicket will only continue to misbehave as Australia's Border-Gavaskar series opener against India rockets towards an early finish.

A whopping 17 wickets fell on a crazy opening day on Friday, with India dismissed for 150 before Australia were left reeling at 7-67.

Alex Carey (19no) and Starc (6no) hold the key to Australia's hopes of avoiding a sizeable first-innings deficit.

Unseasonable rain in the lead-up to the Perth Test heavily impacted the preparation of the wicket.

WA Cricket head curator Isaac McDonald even predicted the wicket would hold up better than normal as the match wore on.

"In terms of those big snake WACA cracks, I don't think the weather will get us there," he said two days before the start of the Test.

The only thing here is India is likely to bowl out under 150 again and this pitch will not turn much in 4th inning so we will have to bowl well to bowl Australia out again at low total to win the test match.

Got a funny feeling that India will be batting again within the first hour of play, can't see Aus holding out against this India bowling attack

Aussie batters deserve a lot of stick. We Indian fans give a lot of stick to Indian batters but Aussie batters deserve it too.

I think the only difference is pitch is pacy. That makes Bumrah far more potent. In slower pitches you can play him off the backfoot.

Huge wicket for India.

They can wrap this up quickly here and basically kill the game.

I bowl faster than you, I have long memory, lol. Loved the comments from Starc

NAH, Aus can hang and put some runs. Game is not killed. I think India has to bat well to kill the game.

Yeah it depends on how many runs these guys put up. However, I just don't think Australia can chase anything over 150 with Bumrah firing like this.

India would have to suffer a monumental collapse to lose this.

Bumrah will face heat whenever he will comes to bat against Stac .

I hope series is heated going forward . I don't like this bhaichara type of cricket .🔥🔥

Any team depending on just one bowler may struggle to defend 150 runs. I will fancy Aus chances to chase if it's just 150 runs. Won't be easy with Bumrah, but I think one bowler is not going to bail Ind out all the time.

As I was typing Aus is 9 down so more harder for Aus now.

It's not one bowler though is it?
Harshit is good
Siraj is ok.

Shami is badly missed though

This pitch is one of the paciest pitch for sure. Reaction time is very less. Even small movement is enough

What do you reckon would be a good total to defend here?

I reckon 250 is good.
300 is great
325+ will be real hard for Aussies to chase

India still hasn't use nitish Reddy and Sundar. Just saying :kp

This is just pathetic, there are no quality bats anymore in the international arena, T20 has killed test batsmen. The kids nowadays dont have the technique, skill or determination of bats before 2010 in general.

Bumrah whilst is a great bowler, Steve Waugh's team would handle him well, yeah Bumrah will have his wins against Steve Waugh's side but it wouldn't be so easy for him like now.

Rana looks like having some skill. India needs to play him and give a long rope. Early days, but looks good.

Don't think so. This pitch is very pacy much like kingsmead pitch in the 90s. INdia got bowled out for 100 & 66. Every ball was a grenade. Also this same Australians were reduced 24/9 at newlands some 10 years back? They had Michael clarke et al.

Not on this pitch. Pace with movement was hard for all teams, even for Waugh's team.

The ball was seaming like crazy on the kingsmead wicket, there is no movement on this wicket, just pace and bounce.

But pitch is way quicker and imagine Bumrah on this pitch with that kind of release point. It will be like 155 kph. Most of the wickets were due slight seam movement.

Crazy seam and Swing . Very hard to score runs on this pitch .

Australia is well within this game.

Starc is protecting his team mate and not allowing him to face Bumrah. Right decision.

Pant what have you done? Dropped the catch and gave 4 crucial runs also .

Starc is smashing now . Four more

Sreesanth massacred the ATG SA side twice at Durban. Imagine Bumrah there.

Ofcourse there would be out of the norms in all eras. However watching these kids bat on the crease they just look terrible the minute there is something in the wicket. Joe Root is a prime example of this, need everything to be as easy as possible to score any runs, Kohli it doesn't matter he won't score any runs anywhere....

The thing is back then second change, third change would be toothless. These days you get 3 or 4 guys come after you one after another

annoying partnership. Bumrah is pushing himself too hard. Siraj should bowl. India has to bowl 2nd dig as well.
